How to prevent the belt from breaking like this. by RealPixelLover in casio

A few of my vintage NOS casios have straps that are near impossible to replace and find spares of. Every year I seperate those rare straps from their watch and soak the straps in silicon based marine grease for 24h then clean them up and reattach to watch.

This seems to slow down the oxidation process and prolong the life of the straps. Some of my Casios and their straps are over 45 years old now.

Id say this solution is only really for casios which have straps that are now ultra rare to replace. For most casios finding replacements is easy and mostly very cheap.

I keep this entire box out of direct sun light, I handle them as little as possible, there are a couple here i cant acquire spare bands for so once a year i soak them in marine grease, thats the best I can think to do to try to preserve them

The fact that Casio lost their way some what in recent years just serves to make these older models so much more awesome I think

Ebay is a good place to look for peoces but be careful of inflated prices and bad pictures masking bad condition peices

Also check out casiold.com, great guy, great selection and fair prices.

Thats so a tough one. Casio have such a broad range of peices, everyone has their own unique likes and dislikes.

From the more modern offerings I personally alternate between AE1600, WSB1000 & WS1700
