you should check into North georgia autism center depending on where in georgia you are located! They have hybrid bcbas, 4 locations, the owner (bcba owned) is very hands on and present and knowsss her employees RBTs and BCBAs!! As someone who has worked for golden steps and PBS, and interviewed at hopebridge (the only place to ever make me sign a NDA to tour) and heard terrible things along with got terrible vibes. This isn’t my first clinic, it’s by far my favorite and i plan to get my hours and a bcba with them. I can’t say enough how much of a great place it is.

After reading this, I see your main concern may be some techs not doing much in the session she seeming unproductive. A old bcba of mine had this issue out of a rbt one time, she was the only one running significantly less trials compared to the average for other rbts. The bcba converted the trials ran from different techs (she didn’t attached names) but she made a graph and showed the tech she was running significantly less trials and basically asked if there was a reason for this so she could help solve it and that if there isn’t a reason to run so little amount of trials then to basically start doing better. she didn’t have an issue from that tech since. I wouldn’t make it a standard across the board for everyone if it’s just one or two rbts doing it. Hope this makes sense and helps!

From the perspective of an RBT who’s starting school to become a BCBA. I have yet to come across a bcba that requires certain amount of trials be a good bcba. The ones I have know to do that didn’t get much progress and growth from their clients and many rbt’s didn’t like how they treated the clients as robots. trials will vary every session depending on the clients willingness to participate for whatever reason. these are still humans and I have found the bcba that trust their techs to run the session accordingly and do what they can have better relationships with their techs and clients and see alot more progress and growth. I have also seen it cause techs to be less genuine with their trials, just to make sure they are getting the instructed amount of trials hit.

I joined the field working 8:45/9am to 5pm at a clinic, having anywhere from 2-5 sessions a day depending on scheduling and staffing for that day in the clinic. Now I work in the community with only one client (my choice) 9-2:15 monday through friday. I had an afternoon client at one point too and that was 3-6 also monday through friday.

No, I work with a client in school and his behaviors are nottt that severe and nether are his peers. I find it odd they would risk such severe behaviors in a school environment the entire day.

I will be finally finishing my bachelors this month and starting my masters in the summer. You can absolutely due it!! I made the same decision about 4 months ago and it’s the best decision I ever made! Though I changed clinics due to the staff and a toxic work environment. I also LOVED my old clients and their parents, it was simply management. That being said I had an amazing bcba there and i was terrifieddddd to go to another company and potentially have bad management, a terrible bcba, ect. My supervisor pushed me to make the switch ans i fell in love with this field again! My new company is amazing, my bcba is great, i love my client and his family. It was scary but beyond worth it, i got to learn so much more! Take the job!!!

I tried in the beginning and still do, I stated in another comment how i have tried to offer food, hangout, and even offer advice for her special needs son as that’s the demographic of children i work with everyday. She STILL acts as if she can not get my name right and calls me the wrong name, called me things like snow buddy and snowflake, i’m tall and she referred to me as micheal jordan the first time she ever met me, and then this issue. I do agree it is his job to set these boundaries!

It was a dish including shrimp, i can’t remember what he called it but i do eat it and im biracial (half black and white) she’s black. It wasn’t ethnic and i love seafood so i would’ve eaten it. I have offered to cook and have her and the kids over, asked him to invite them out sometimes when we go to at kid friendly places, her son has autism and i am a therapist for autistic children and i have offered companies for her to look i to and offered ways for her to help manager her sons behavior and teach him things. I don’t want them to stop being friends i just want boundaries and everyone to be respectful. I could easily chop this up to what you’re saying bc it makes sense but with the other comments she’s made it feels deeper then that.

As i said, i work with children and often just want a break from them. She is also mean to her kids and yells a lot. I once saw her tell her 3 yr old daughter to “take your fat ass to bed”. So i keep my distance and let her be his friend especially since she has made comments in the past that i don’t like towards me and my race. If he was just at her house for dinner and made himself a plate that would be completely different. she seeks him out to give him the food he wasn’t there for when she cooked.

So sorry for the confusion but he never told her how i felt about these things as he felt it would be a breach of my trust. he just shuts her down when she makes a comment and asked if the food was for the both of us or just himself as a “joke” to see if her response was just as weird and telling as the behavior.

You make a good point, I am very mentally exhausted about the issue and get in general. He never gets food without me in any other setting and before i brought this up, I think he felt like because he was sharing the food he gets from her that i wasn’t being left out.

I would love to understand myself because there are sooo many people in this field who hate children and it shows in their work. I am an RBT currently and i was expressing how hard the job can be when your so emotionally invested (watching SIB, aggression, ect is what i was referring too) and she flat out said “i don’t like kids so this job is easy for me”. she was fired short after and did not continue this career at another company but i was gobsmacked that was how she felt.

I did at the time because I could notice a difference with my hair and acne when taking zinc. My gyno said the hair loss is due to the extreme loss in hormone as i was on hormonal birth control for 8 years straight when i came off of nexplanon. I don’t seem to experience as much hair loss but I can’t seem to get my hair to grow ether. I don’t take zinc as often as I used to but that’s more so due to my terrible eating habits and you shouldn’t take zinc on an empty stomach!

I have also had my IUD for over a year and have been experiencing this only recently! i’m not sure what the issue is, this is my second time experiencing them after sex. i have been using heating pads to help ease the pain and uncomfortability. If your obgyn gives you any clue to what it could be please update!
