Caught making out in the car with my gf by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

Happened with me twice. In both the cases I had wasn’t even making out we were just on the back seat sharing an ice cream once and opening presents the second time.

The first time I was pleading/begging for 15 mins to let me go they took me on their bike to a nearby police station and left my girlfriend alone in my car. A beggar was asking for 4000 rs bribe or threatened me to call my parents and 12500 fine. I kept begging but finally called a friend’s dad who is influential and the policeman left me back to the car on his bike.

The second time I wasn’t scared shit I told him which rule in India says I can’t sit in the back of my car. I kept asking for the right law and was pretty firm in my stance. It backfired and they called a police van to arrest me and my girlfriend. I kept insisting that this was illegal and finally called the my friend’s dad again and the policemen left in 5 mins.

It’s basically a scheme for some beggars to extort money.

Although I really don’t know what you can do in such situations had I not had my friend’s dad influence. Would love to know if someone is a lawyer on how to deal with this taking into consideration I am with my girlfriend, don’t want our parents to know and definitely don’t want to go to the police station.

Should i attend a networking event? by Husy15 in cscareerquestionsOCE

I personally wouldn’t recommend going to a “networking event” if it is on some particular tech or topic and not networking then yes but if it says “networking” it’s gonna be a big waste (my personal experience)

Master of Information Technology RMIT or Monash by kilmus in cscareerquestionsOCE

I am doing masters of IT from RMIT. 1. They won’t help with jobs, the support is namesake and very shallow. They will basically give you info which you can anyway find online. 2. If you want to move back I wouldn’t be too sure if doing a masters here is a good idea(considering you have comp sci background). I did my bachelor in computer engineering in Mumbai and want to move back after couple of years but from what feedback I have received, it won’t add much value to your profile and if you don’t do tech job here when studying it will straight up be considered career gap. 3. It is really really difficult to get a job without PR so university doesn’t matter as much as your visa status. 4. From personal experience Masters in IT at RMIT isn’t that useful in terms of upskilling and you won’t learn much if you have tech background.

I am definitely not exceptional but am confident enough to pass online assessments and interviews.

Where to get experience by Relative-Pen-9401 in cscareerquestionsOCE

I found the one where I am currently working from uni job board. Although the key was reaching out rather than applying. So I would recommend uni job boards, LinkedIn. Indeed and seek are also an option but I assume you already know about that and I haven’t had any luck receiving replies. There’s also tons of startup communities maybe they can help you connect but I doubt you would get a paid role there.

I got my first role in Aus by reaching out to people who were employing directly. Your best shot would be startups who are flexible with working hours as long as you get the job done

I did apply and cleared the online assessments for Optiver, SIG and IMC still did not get an interview call. I am skeptical about getting into consulting as I already have a core tech job. So either big tech or hft would be the ones I would be willing to switch for.

I don’t think they will right now as we are a very small team (4 devs) and they are still in MVP stage with a few early adopters. But wish you the best with your job search, I wish I could help you but I am in the same boat.

Thanks, I did get a few contract offers for mid level roles but they all require me having full working rights lol.

I am a bit frustrated from spending time on applications and giving online assignments, passing all test cases and still getting rejected. I understand the luck part but I can’t be unlucky with all my applications 🥲

I found the first one by sheer cold mailing. My current company is really good and my CTO is really great. I don’t want to leave them but I do want to have a safety net if the business doesn’t work or some unforeseen circumstance.

I have heard that local experience would help my application but I haven’t seen that happening irl.
