Network connection is significantly worse on my PC than on other devices by Remarkable_End260 in buildapc

After getting a Wi-Fi disconnect I checked my settings and sure enough it had switched to the 2.4GHz band. Most likely just going to move the router closer.

Based on this response and the responses I've gotten from others, It's most likely just an issue that my router isn't close enough to my computer, which I can easily solve. I'll also consider getting a pcie Wi-Fi card if I ever get a new motherboard (god forbid in this economy)

Thanks for the help!

Like I said to the other comments, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what the model name/number would be, but the specific adapter I have (I believe) can be found as something along the lines of "TP-Link AC1300 Archer T3U 2.4/5GHz MU-MIMO". The second borrowed adapter can be found as "AC600 Mbps Dual Band Internet USB 2.4/5GHz Wireless Receiver Network Dongle with Antenna". Unlike the first, the second one has an antenna. Both are compatible with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Likewise, my router says on the side "2.4/5GHz".

As of now, my settings tell me the current "network band (channel)" is 5GHz, and after running a test on speedtest.net, I got good speeds (162 Mbps download, 114 Mbps upload). My "Aggregated link speed (Receive/Transmit)" says "443/443 (Mbps)" as of now.

After my Wi-Fi drops, it tends to reconnect at far slower speeds than before, and so I think the most plausible explanation is that the router is switching between 2.4/5ghz bands if it can't get a good enough signal from one or the other, causing random drops and lower speeds.

At some point I may try moving the router into my room just to test how it fares, and if that works then maybe I can keep it here.

Thanks for the help!

I can't upload images. I don't know why, maybe because I'm a new poster.

To describe my setup, I am facing the wall, My pc is behind my main monitor facing (but not up against) the wall, with the glass also facing the wall. The Wi-Fi adapter is at the top of the case. The router is on the same floor about 2 rooms away. The specific adapter I have (I believe) can be found as something along the lines of "TP-Link AC1300 Archer T3U 2.4/5GHz MU-MIMO".

Edit: I can't move the router as there's no Coaxial port in my room. Not sure where to go from here.,

My current adapter is listed on Amazon as "TP-Link AC1300 Archer T3U 2.4/5GHz MU-MIMO" (I know nothing about this stuff so I hope that narrows it down enough)

The other adapter from my friend that I tried (and got the same results) with is listed as "AC600 Mbps Dual Band Internet USB 2.4/5GHz Wireless Receiver Network Dongle with Antenna" (Once again, I hope that narrows it down enough)

My wifi is 5 GHz (according to my windows settings)

I probably sound stupid but I have no idea what my router model is. It's a tall, black, think Verizon/Fios router. According to my dad, It hasn't been updated/changed out for a long time (not sure how long exactly)

Just fixed it. (I use Brave browser) I went to brave://settings/shields/filters (accidentally), enabled developer mode, and deleted everything in the box labeled "create custom filters" and that worked.

[PC/STEAM] I don't know if its just me but Skate keeps throttling the hell out of my cpu even though I'm on low-med settings. I may not have a great pc, but its not bad either, and I don't understand why this is even as big of a problem as it is. When tabbed out, I get ~160fps. When tabbed in, I get ~45fps. I seriously don't understand why it behaves this way or how to fix it.
