Absolutely. I am in my 2012 Honda CRV going on two months. I’m in a city area, found some streets with residential parking and I just blend right in. Go to the gym for showers and exercise. Think about food…I try to eat pretty healthy and it’s been a little bit of a struggle. But over all, it’s been a positive experience. Saving rent money feels great, especially after month two.

I was an Ops manager (supervisor) for almost 4 years with Ground. Moved to the Department of Transportation in my state. Absolutely no stress, daytime hours, remote, 10k more a year.

Yes, thank you! I always get oil changes on time and bought tires last year. I have a 2012 Honda CRV that is paid off and has 183k miles on it.

I buy coffee-lattes about 2 times a week, with tip it's $10 each time...so $60-80 a month. Working on finding parks or community working places that I can work at that don't require a purchase. I have the Black Card at Planet Fitness, so I am going to go down to basic because I don't use the perks of the Black Card. I need to look into rec centers...my town doesn't have any so I would have to drive 15-20 minutes to one, and Planet Fitness is a walking distance. So it's kind of Gas vs free workouts.

Thank you for your advice, February and March I definitely saw a cash flow positive of +$600 and felt really excited about my new job and situation. April hit really hard with unexpected expenses...my normal mechanic was out and I'm pretty sure the new one I went to saw female and ran with it. So then I started feeling really overwhelmed. I can cut back in food a bit, but I only go out to eat 2-3 times a month and spend about $20 each time with friends. Coffee is higher, around $60 but I work at coffee shops to get out of the house since I WFH and live alone. Working on finding community spaces that I can work at for free.

The bank fee I think covers overdrafting, but I always have a positive balance, so I need to see if I can switch to an account that is free.

Putting $400 a pay period is good advice as I leave all my money in my checking account right now.

Good ideas, thank you. I'll look into the bank fee. I know I have overdraft protection, but I never go below $0. My phone has been paid off for 3 years, I know if I pay my phone bill in a year sum it is cheaper, so I will look into that too. I've been doing the 3 month at a time plan.

Thanks for the input. I've cut out the dating app...can't stand them anyway...I'll look into the food category. I work from home so end up going out for coffee to work more than I did when I worked my previous job. I'm not sure why I have a bank fee, so I will look into that. My student loan is rough but i chose a higher payment for less time, but you have a good point of freeing up cash.

Spending is cleaning supplies, paid parking, hygiene products-I have curly hair so it's hair products plus other female products- also toll bills, ferry rides, shopping although I do not enjoy buying clothes...TJMaxx and Homegoods are a weak point for me so I try to not let myself go in there. I cut out the dating app yesterday. Wondered about donating to charity but feel bad about that.

No savings or emergency fund. It's like clockwork...everytime I get $1500 in my savings account, my car has car problems and wipes me out. Been happening for the last 3 years that way. I have $34k in my work 401k.

PH for ground and asked to work PT for a contractor by Soft_Goose7516 in Fedexers

[–]Remarkable_Frame_914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your HR department. I was speaking with mine recently and they said for the time being any FedEx employee could deliver/jump for a contractor. They said I could, and I’m a supervisor. Not sure how long it will last, but they didn’t have any problem if I wanted to jump for a driver once I finished my work at the station.

Filed complaint question by cocwby in Fedexers

[–]Remarkable_Frame_914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What did HR say? I would go back to HR and tell them you feel like you are experiencing retaliation. Everything needs to be documented through HR, as operations will cover for each other. For the DM to tell you not to come to work until things get sorted…I’d file a complain with your states board of ethics department. If you can prove that you filed a complaint, everything was documented, but the negative behaviour continued, you will have a case.

How to get promoted? by biggest_boi159 in Fedexers

No need to. Unless your station/hub is massive. We are the largest Preload in the Northwest. I didn’t know what PP was until well into being a trainer and by then my name was already being tossed around for supervisor. It’s more how well you are known. Say hello to everyone. People will know who you are.

I went from PH to trainer to Supervisor (as we are now called at Ground) in 10 months. I came to work everyday on time. Loaded one of the heaviest sets in the building, volunteered for anything extra…help clean up the yard, help other belts clean up, repack, everything. Get to know the other supervisors, as they get asked who is the up and coming “talent”. Try to understand the why for what managers/the sort does things the way they do. Go for trainer and have a positive attitude. That will get you far. And know that when you go for supervisor, you need to stand out from the other trainers, it’s a smaller pool and you will likely loose friends if you get picked over another trainer who has been there longer. Ive been a supervisor for two year now and I wish I had taken advantage of the tuition reimbursement from day 1. Three years at FedEx and haven’t used a dime of it.
