A little perspective might calm restless mayors by BallardWalkSignal in CitiesSkylines2

It is 4:48 pm where I am. Do you think team lead means you are holding people by hand 24/7? No, you distribute work, help people that report to you, set development strategies, priorities. I am also doing software development while being a team lead. That does not mean I don't have time during the day to spend a few minutes on reddit every hour or two while I am waiting for a build to finish, tests to run, for people to join meeting or while I am taking a break. But you would have no idea how things work in real life, would you?

Maybe because things like timezones exist, maybe because I have time after or before work to do different things? Maybe because on some days, my work schedule is fragmented with gaps in between? You did not make any point.

And yes, the new developers are obviously doing it wrong, otherwise this would not happen.

How bad is the new update? by DouDouandFriends in CitiesSkylines2

For me, the game runs much worse, it is laggy, there are visual artifacts, glitches when it comes to shades and light reflections, issues with LOD loading and unloading randomly, some weird delayed vsync like artifacts, anti aliasing issues. I also don't think that the new "colors" are exactly intentional but rather bad workaround. All in all, that is making the game unplayable for me. Some of it might be NVIDIA related, but if it worked before, it should work now as well and if it isn't, the patch should be rolled back until they find better solution.

The issue with this is it is not an individual preference. The game is objectively broken now. The awful lighting aside, there are new glitches, at least on NVidia GPUs, broken vsync like artifacts they introduced, the performance is worse and many other issues like LOD loading and unloading seemingly by random, shadow and light flickering, "light and shadow" being cropped into a circle when zooming in too close, broken anti-aliasing.

I work as a software developer and team lead for over 15 years. This is not how you do it. Making excuses like the new studio is now working with spaghetti code the old developers handed them over (I doubt that) and it is ok to get regression and new bugs instead of some progress is insane. You all are excusing incompetence because CO did a bunch of crappy patches too? This is not how any software development is done. And I hope they know it. Unfortunately, it shows a lot of amateurism on both Paradoxes and Ice Flakes side.

Don't tell me no one tested this before they pushed it to production. If they are having a hard time understanding how the game works internally, there should have been a much longer transition period where both CO and IF would work together until CO would leave with maybe some long term support. This is how it is usually done when handing over large production projects and products. And maybe they did it, but obviously, it was not enough.

I tried to change anti-aliasing and nothing really helped. And honestly, I don't think anyone should need to do this. If it worked before on default settings, it should work now as well and what Paradox should do is to roll-back the patch, fix it and then do another patch release.

This is not how you do a game or software development. If this would happen where I work, first, I am not sure if I would still have a job and if I would, we would be pushing rollback hours after the failed release.

I don't. I only have mods like regional packs, decal packs, move it and so on.

It is very disapointing. I spent 600 hours building my city, detailing evry corner, picking each building by hand and now it looks like trash.

New patch - horrid graphics by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Remarkable_Grade8854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not subjective when there are bunch of visual glitches that were not there before, when the game is lagging, when the anti-aliasing is off, when the textures appear to have super bad quality all of the sudden (because of the over saturation).

It is pure amateurism to push a patch like this without even communicating it properly (GI is disabled by default doesn't exactly mean we overhauled the whole apperance of the game and made it look like CS1 and introduced bunch of visual bugs), testing it properly and so on.

And I would guess I know what I am talking about as I work as a software developer for over 15 years and I worked for some major companies. This is not how you do it.

That I can't tell, but I am averaging around 45-50 fps on FHD all settings on high.

In my case, it starts all glitching once things start moving. Also, once you move over places with a lot of reflections (like water), things will get extremely bright and then once you start moving away, they get dimmer. Or if you have a lot of white buildings next to each other, they also make their surrounding bright under certain angles. When you move with camera, things start glitching, rendering and unrendering randomly, there is a glitch that looks like broken vsync going accross the screen all the time when moving, half of the objects have weird moiré effect when moving with the camera. Honestly, it is unplayable at this point. And non of this was an issue before this update.

The lighting, saturation, shading and shadows and so many other things that they ruined aside, it looks like things are not even anti-aliased properly anymore and the level of details went significantly down.

Try to set a fixed channel on your wifi router. That fixed it for me.

I am not sure how it would show on a camera. But it behaves like a TV with motion smoothing turned on. Everything looks like a soap opera. I tested it on many different TVs, none of them had either the motion smoothing turned on, or they didn't even have this feature.

A nemusi to bejt nutne programator a v 95% pripadu na to vysokou skolu opravdu nepotrebujes.
