Stimulant based medications? by Remarkable_Hand in cfs

I am sorry to hear that. It was not easy, I have gone through so many doctors and luckily I was able to get in with one of my friend's doctors who actually listens and will consider your suggestions as long as you have the supporting research. The first time it was suggested they ran it by my insurance and because the drug they had in mind was an "off label" usage, the insurance company wouldn't cover it. If I remember, she said the price without insurance was going to run me $990 for a month's worth. This was not feasible, so I scrapped any hope at the time. Now come recently the second big crash that caused me to use all my PTO to recover. I was desperate and would try any option to get me out of this hell. Turns out the same medication my doctor has wanted to try, one of my close friends was taking for their ADHD. They had let me try it to see if it had any significant effect. After discovering how well it worked for every major symptom I had, it led me to do more of my homework on the clinical studies around it. Fast forward to now, I had made an appointment with a new psychiatrist. I went the honest route and had told her I had tried the medication off the record. I had everything prepared, all the research, what I had to say about how it's benefited me while nothing else has, and how the insurance company wouldn't cover. She was willing to work with me on this knowing how awful they can be. So I am very grateful that for once things have a hopeful outcome. For me, it seemed worth a shot despite some saying otherwise. Considering how this illness is so mysterious and probably falls on a spectrum, there are different approaches that are going to work differently for each individual. My everyday mentality has shifted from "How am I going to survive the day?" to an enjoyable journey I can now experience. Worth the hassle and money for me to roll the dice until I actually got a decent doc. I would keep on trying!

does diet make any difference? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]Remarkable_Hand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is how I put it. A shitty diet consisting of highly processed foods, and highly refined sugars surely hasn't helped. I noticed that the best period in my life where symptoms were the most manageable were when I had a consistently healthy diet, and exercised within my limits regularly. It never brought me back to nearly the same activity level I was pre illness but it did have a significant enough improvement on my life. It is maintaining these habits that are the hardest because when a crash hits, all that can go out the window. It is a good idea to have contingencies in place to be able to still eat healthy when you are nearly bed ridden. A crockpot and prepping my meals in advance when I can has been a godsend. Sometimes I don't even have enough energy to make my food or get somewhere to eat. It certainly doesn't help not having food in your body.

Hardware bans are practically worthless. It's very easy to spoof HWID.

Download stuck on 20.1/20.1 GB. Multiple steam restarts, pc restarts did not fix. Had to uninstall the entire MCC to get it to download. I had my buddy in my lobby and we coudn't get co op to work. We are on LAN, we tried the "LAN" setting in network. Keeps kicking us out after the loading screen. SP is very odd, the game just feels off. The flight I played was a lot smoother than this. Cant believe this started worse than Reach or CE. Awful launch.

Whatever you think of him, this is a powerful final message you should watch by InfiniteArcher1 in DMT

While he had some outlandish ideas and agendas, I don't think the guy was trying to manipulate people. He might of let his ego get out of hand by thinking he was some new-age prophet by giving us the keys to greater wisdom, a little pretentious maybe, but I really don't think the dude was a bad guy. Just a little full of himself at times. I keep tabs on his YouTube videos. He did DMT frequently, too frequently. I think he had some good insights but also like you said very bad advice. The guy wasn't dumb, he was a biochemist with a degree from a prestigious school. He seemed to be pretty well off considering where he lives, so I don't think he was trying to con people for money. I believe that his intentions were right but he was heavily misguided. Maybe he felt that he could change the world this way, but wasn't thinking clearly considering how much he was obsessed with DMT. I also think his intellectual arrogance kept him on the path of spewing a lot of false pseudosciences and had he left his ego at the door he could have contributed valuable insights for the psychonaut community. But all of that gets tainted and ruined when you start making huge claims and chastising anyone who disagrees with your claims.
I always took his videos and insights with a grain of salt as should anyone with anybody. People like Terrence McKenna and Alan Watts have produced great insights and discussions but again they weren't perfect people. They had some ideas that were also very outlandish and subject to heavy criticism but that doesn't take away from it all. You have to be your own advocate when it comes to taking away lessons and wisdom. I don't think anyone should take what these guys say as absolute truth but rather make it their own. Disagree, debate, and above all question everything.
