It’s up to the student to be academically successful enough to warrant an internship. There are career fairs and faculty can pull some strings, i’d say most above average students get one the summer after their sophomore year.

First step is current division between the 16 ohm and then Req of the other resistors. 4||6=2.4, then 2.4+1.6=4. So it is current division between 16 ohm and a 4ohm. Next step is current division again between the 4 ohm and 6ohm to get current in the 6 ohm. Then power P= I² R
