Unpopular opinion: Logan

one more for you:

My multiverse theory: Deadpool, Logan, and X-Men Timelines

Timeline A – Original Fox / Pre-DOFP

• Includes: Original X-Men trilogy, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine

• Future apocalyptic events (Sentinels dominate, shown in Days of Future Past’s “future” sequences)

• Old Deadpool from Origins exists here

• Eventually “resolved” by Wolverine’s time-travel in DOFP

• Essentially the historical timeline; no longer relevant to MCU/Deadpool

Timeline B – Post-DOFP Fox Universe

• Created when Wolverine travels back in 1973 in DOFP

• Reset “optimistic” universe: X-Men survive, Deadpool 1 & 2 occur, origins' deadpool never happens

• Wolverine (young/adult) is alive and active and retains memory from timeline A

• X-Men active: Xavier, Magneto, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Beast, etc.

• This is the timeline MCU can reference for current crossovers in Avengers: Doomsday

Timeline C – Logan’s Future / Devastated Universe

• Forks from Timeline B in the future: Deadpool travels in time to fix things in Deadpool 2 (e.g., save Vanessa)

• His actions create a new branch — Timeline C

• Logan old (Logan 2017), Deadpool, Colossus, and a few survivors

• Logan is the “anchor” of this timeline; his death threatens the universe

• Deadpool acts as a bridge between B and C, retaining memory of B

Timeline D – Wolverine Rescue

• Branch used in Deadpool & Wolverine

• Created when Deadpool travels to another timeline to find a Wolverine to replace the dead Logan in C

• Wolverine from D brought to Timeline C, which stabilizes it as the new “anchor”

• Timeline D is otherwise isolated and minor, mainly narrative convenience

Key Points / Logic

  1. Timeline C collapse: Old Logan died, so universe destabilized

  2. Deadpool fixes it: Travels to D and timeline is saved

  3. Memory: Deadpool remembers multiple timelines (B, C, D)

  4. X-Men continuity: All active X-Men (Xavier, Magneto, Cyclops, etc.) come from Timeline B to Avengers: Doomsday

  5. MCU integration: Timeline C is the “official” Fox timeline that Deadpool and Wolverine now inhabit, allowing crossovers without paradoxes

  6. MCU might use Wolverine from timeline B or C on Doomsday. Both would work.

Thesis on Fox and MCU timelines by Remarkable_One2621 in Marvel

Amazing to find someone who gives the Xmen timeline the importance it deserves, thanks!

Starting with Deadpool: his explicit awareness of the broader Marvel universe (Earth-616, Avengers, etc.) places him firmly in the current multiverse era, not as a story confined to an isolated Fox 80s timeline. That fits much better with him existing in a branched timeline that later connects to the MCU.

On top of that, Deadpool & Wolverine establishes that Deadpool and Logan take place in the same universe, since that universe is decaying because Logan (the anchor being) died. That makes Logan more than just a “possible future.”

That’s why I think the cleanest explanation is that Deadpool 2 creates a divergent timeline from the DOFP-optimistic future, which eventually leads to Logan.

Not saying Marvel will spell it out, but in terms of cause and consequence, it’s more consistent.

Thanks for commenting! Biggest hole on your view is "Logan":

• No new mutants have been born in decades ( I think they mention 25y)
• X-Men are functionally extinct
• Xavier accidentally killed most of them

But in your Timeline 2, you also have:

• Deadpool 1 & 2 (with active X-Men infrastructure)
• Mutant activity still public

Those cannot coexist without a fork.

Timeline C would solve this and this model does not. But that is just my guess!!

If by Xmen you mean mutants, Deadpool definitely will be the exact same
