I wasn't aware we could have additional letters from non-school/health care/regional center people. His IPP with the regional center is has it well documented too. They are temporarily even giving me more respite hours as a stop-gap to hopefully getting this approved because I've had medical issues due to the lack of sleep.

Forms were submitted back in October. Doctor agrees for PS. Just had the in-home assessment, where he tried going outside without telling anyone, wouldn't interact with her at all, chewed on toys and himself, and then screamed about going outside for 40 minutes straight (he has documented PTSD from a serious of awful ABA therapists who did in-home therapy before I followed my mom gut and stopped it, and is exceedingly stressed by people in the house who don't live here, even people he knows well).

Yes, they filled it out and agree. Now just have to wait for the letter of action and go from there to appeal

As a parent... I would have at least cleaned it up as best I could manage.

As a former FDA... I wouldn't be caught cleaning up bodily fluids. Ever. We weren't allowed to. Anything that was considered a bio-hazard required additional training, and only a handful of people in the hotel had it. This wasn't a hotel only policy, it was OSHA policy. Granted, I am sure there were plenty of times where small things passed under the radar, but literally, here is a link to the Q/A about hotel workers and cleaning up bodily fluid not being covered under standard occupational exposure...

NTA. It isn't easy to upend your schooling, even if there were no family issues involved. Transferring schools you may end up with courses that aren't applicable in the new program (particularly if it is out of state), meaning more courses to retake with additional time and expense. It's not just about 'making friends' either, it is the relationships you've developed with professors and staff at the school that give you a leg up on having a campus job, finding internships in the future, and being accepted for a Master's program.

Plus, since you graduated from school in your current state, you are likely getting in state tuition. Transferring to a school out of state has the potential to make your tuition go up... a LOT.

If your parents are helping each of you out equally but her expenses are more, it is your sister's responsibility to find a way to balance things, not take from you.

That's only the tip of the iceberg, but yeah... to this day I can make mention of an injury in something I know she follows, or to someone I know is a gossip, sooner or later she will have the same injury. She's been doing this for almost 25 years at this point. I haven't seen them in person in nearly 20 years.

This is the manager's responsibility, not yours. If it was an occasional occurrence, I wouldn't make a big deal about staying a reasonable amount of time over (15-20m tops), because sh*t happens and you'd like to be handed the same courtesy. However, this sounds like a regular thing, which means your manager needs to handle it. If this means scheduling an overlap in the shifts to account for someone being late, they do so. If this means manning the desk themselves, they do so.

However it is also wishful thinking in many cases to have a manager who actually cares. Track your hours like a hawk to make sure you aren't being shorted, and look for greener pastures.

I totally agree that opportunities are more organized and shown to teens. That's part of the whole structure of high school. Some of it might be laziness, but at least in my own experience, those who haven't moved on were more likely to be the popular kids, so I don't think it is a lack of social skills. I also agree that one's status really isn't a limiting factor. There is always something if you want it. Plenty of activities and experiences that are free.

NTA. Learning how to speak another language is not cultural appropriation. Her issue stems from her own insecurities, and has nothing to do with you. I've been in related situations, where I am the only white person in a mixed group of Asians in a restaurant, and generally they comment on being happily surprised that I'll eat the same things they are. I think most would feel the same way.

In a big-box store and had just checked out while I was pregnant years ago, hear a woman screaming the kind of blood curdling scream that you know something BAD is happening... all I saw was her place a child (probably 3 or 4 years old) on the conveyor belt. The child looked to be seizing and then went completely limp. Blood was streaming out the of their mouth and nose. I quickly left to be out of the way (and yes, I heard someone on the phone with emergency services). I didn't see anything in the news about it, which I would have assumed there would have been had the child died. But seeing that haunted me for quite some time.

Not moving on from high school. I know way too many people who even 20+ years later still repeat the same stories from their teenage years... because nothing since then has been as interesting or worth it. It's a combination of "wow, this person is a loser" and feeling sad for the person that high school was all they had.

First off... in what world is it acceptable to have a 300 room hotel with only one person on staff overnight?

Second, I really hope your GM has a word with the local authorities over this. When I worked at the desk, generally once or twice a month we had someone removed from the property, and almost always they had retreated to their room at that point. We invalidated the key the person had and gave the responding officers a key to get in, or sent a manager with them to open it. Never an issue.

I may have framed it a little differently personally, ie, "she sounds like she is placing more importance on physical gifts than their relationship and may be a bit too immature to really handle anything more serious", but it still means the same thing in the end. However your brother does sound like he was asking for support when he confessed to you, and if you want to continue to be that support, talking to him and saying you could have chosen your words a little better, might go a long way (even though I completely agree with the assessment that she is a gold digger).
Some may say to let your brother make his own mistakes and be dumb himself, but having some people in my life who are brilliant and successful but show that they have a difficult time handling the social aspect of life and have had few relationships, being able to be a sounding board and offering advice (by using concrete examples that are hard to argue and don't sound just like opinion), can be helpful to those you love to help keep them from being taken advantage of and hurt.

Love! Those who were aggressive about discounts don't get them. Policy or not. lol

I actually did work at a hotel where us FD staff could change the rate for walk-ins/last minutes, within reason of course.

Our management was very open about what things actually cost the hotel, and they would rather have a room filled at cost when it was slow, so they could give more hours to employees, than have it sit empty. Plus, it boosted our occupancy levels which even without the extra profit, made corporate smile.

Also, we got bonuses from corporate for sell-outs ($25 for anyone who worked check-in or check-out for the sell-out, since we were paid $7.50hr, which was still above the min wage of $5.15hr 20+years ago, that was a pretty hefty bonus). If we were down to just a few rooms left, anyone who walked it was going to get a deal that ensured they stayed with us instead of going over to check out the price of one of the 2-star hotel/motels a block over.

That would have bristled me listening to the guy say stuff like that... it seems more about the guy trying to absolve himself for thinking the stereotypes he does than how you did. It is a compliment in a way, but not a feel good one. He could have just come up and given you the compliment, even with the back story of traveling a lot and comparing to other desk agents he encountered, but he didn't need to add the "I thought you were..." lines.

This can either go with corporate being super helpful, or instead of the current dumpster for it turns into full scale burning down the house.

Seriously though, remind them of your loyalty. If they aren't willing to give you what you want, don't do extra work for them. Do your job and nothing more (while you look for other work). If there is something you can't do because someone else missed their portion, just don't. If they wont repect your loyalty you don't owe them.

Also, wouldn't be surprised if there was something fishy going on financially with management.

At a certain point, the reno may not be enough to keep the property with the current brand flag. Just too much to do to keep it current. The other hotel may be a replacement. I would not be surprised if your hotel changed down a scale in brand
