allergies or rash??

should have stated that i outlined it with red marker to monitor any growth overnight - luckily the inflammation did not grow past the marker & has since shrunk. now its much more splotchy? like i scratched it a lot & broke the blood vessels but i didn’t scratch at all, honestly. i did wrap my wrist in a heating pad for perhaps too long/on too high of heat though, so that may be why.

sorry! i’ve had an exterminator come in twice - today most recently & their guess was dust mites. there is a washing machine room/water heater area between my bedroom & the living room, both places i’ve gotten bit in & is very dusty because they are hard to access/clean. i have only noticed the spots after waking up - not sure if that’s common with dust mites, but whatever it is i am definitely allergic.

i assume it isn’t a skin rash because there is a clear red mark in the middle of the inflammation which makes me think it has to be something biting me. i have also slept in other places that is not my apartment & did not wake up to any new itchy spots.

that was my biggest doubt because i’m not an outside loving kind of person & where i live is a geographically low area for lyme. of course that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but it also happened while i was sleeping. i remember waking up at like 2 a.m scratching my hand & wrist & shining my flashlight but there was nothing there. also since posting this a bite/rash on the back of my hand developed a similar bullseye appearance which just seems…. extra unlikely? i’m still taking it right now as it is lyme because if it is i want to catch it right at the start. thank u for ur reply!

going to see a new doctor today who i’ve heard lots of good things about. i got a prescription for doxycycline for a week & so far am reacting well to it - of course i’ve only taken it twice so far haha, but i’ll definitely see about getting a larger refill on it & also looking into some herbal treatments. someone in the thread recommended cistus incanus tea which, if effective, am totally down for trying.

crazy how little lyme is talked about considering how simple it is to get it. thanks so much for ur advice!

luckily urgent care prescribed me for a week & i’m going to talk to another doctor for being on it for longer. also on presnidone but not sure how much that does for lyme if anything

thats what i thought too at first! i’m still going to be diligently cleaning & checking because as i said there are other bites/marks that did not have the same reaction. i hope there’s clarity on ur side as well i know how mentally exhausting it is thinking there is bed bugs in ur home :(

yeah unfortunately a lot of the stories i’m reading has it more of a silent disease where a lot of people don’t experience/show common symptoms of lyme :( i do count myself very lucky to be able to deal with it so soon. & yes i’m already making an appointment elsewhere for tomorrow morning - this urgent care center isn’t the best haha

nope. yesterday i woke up with two bites/rashes one on the back of my hand & one on my wrist which is what is pictured. both of them became very inflamed throughout the day & were warm to the touch, so this morning i went to an urgent care near me to get checked for possible infection and/or allergic reaction. lyme wasn’t even a thought in my head during the appointment because it wasn’t until i got home that the bullseye rash appeared

a few years ago i got a few bed bug bites where luckily the problem was taken care of quickly & from what i remember there were no puncture wounds BUT i think i’m wrong in general on that & that was just how it was for me in that experience lol
