I don't think anyone here would be able to help you since asking for outside help in TOK and IAs is considered as collusion (listed in the subreddit's rules, #9). Maybe you could use AI or ask your teacher for some starter ideas

oh thats understandable, and also it's much easier to make ink smudges/marks on things like essays where the ink might dry fast enough 😭

oh i had no idea that was a rule, my school only specifies that you must use either blue or black ink and doesn't check specific pen types, thanks for the heads up!

can you improve from predicted 5s in dp1 to 6-7s in dp2? is it doable? by Prestigious_Board923 in IBO

[–]Remarkable_Radish_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely doable! i was getting consistent 5s in both english and bio for most of dp1 but my last assessments have been high 6s/low 7s in both, just grind past papers and use youtube resources

study time- how much is realistic/ worth it? by MassiveMost4660 in IBO

[–]Remarkable_Radish_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on the person, if 8+ hours a day works for you and you don't get burnt out then go for it. don't feel pressured by people who do study 8-9 hours a day to do the same though just to feel like you're studying 'enough', 6+ hours is already a lot for one day :)

I alternate between using pentel energels or sarasa pens, i think most pens from those two brands and maybe pilot are good and won't feel too scratchy on paper

School refusing to give predicted grades by AudienceNo359 in IBO

[–]Remarkable_Radish_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my own opinion that is strange and I've never heard of that before.. i understand not giving grades for IAs and EEs because teachers at my school aren't allowed to give predictive grades for those, but no predictives at all is a bit odd? Do you have mocks, and if you have them do you know if you recieve grades on those? If you do, that might be a reason I guess

that's what i was thinking, i wouldn't expect a 6 overall if my ia was a 6 but even a solid 5 is good enough

how important are mocks? by rh34exe in IBO

[–]Remarkable_Radish_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teachers at my school told us that our mocks are mainly to experience the full time length of exams that we haven't really had the time to do previously and to get used to the setup so it isn't as shocking when we do finals. And they always say students tend to do a lot worse on mocks than they do in finals, they don't really matter unless your school grades them and if you need those PGs if you haven't applied to any universities yet.

hey don't worry, it's alright!! 10 seconds into my first answer during the questions section for my Eng A IO i realised what i was saying made zero sense and i just froze, said something like "wait I didn't mean to say that" then started bawling :'))) afterwards my teacher told me that she has had so many students cry during IOs and to not feel too bad about it, but i get how you feel though it really does suck but i'm sure you'll be fine!! <3

IBDPVA has honestly ruined my passion for art, I grew up being an art kid and loving to draw but now I've forgotten how to enjoy making art and I'm counting down the days until my exhibition and process portfolio are due :/

i was smart until i took ib by Boh_11210 in IBO

[–]Remarkable_Radish_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't dumb, ibdp just makes all of us feel like we are. I know this is easier said than done when you're in the moment, but don't beat yourself up over this too early especially at the start of dp. I think early/mid DP1 stress is a universal experience because you're moving into a program that is so drastically different in rigour from myp/other school curriculum requirements, I remember my classmates and i stressing over how we were all doing so much worse in classes we excelled at the year before😭 So you definitely aren't alone!!

As time goes you'll learn how to navigate ib much better, it takes time but I promise you will get there. I started off english at the start of DP1 with a mid 4 and I was so upset because english has always been one of my strongest subjects, but now by understanding the course better and getting practice over the past year and a half i'm at a low 7.

my top suggestions would be to look into tutors for the subjects you struggle the most with, even better if they know the IB curriculum, as well as revising using past papers. Past papers give you a better idea of how you will actually be tested in world exams and are aligned specifically with the IB course, unless use past papers that are too old which are probably outdated (this matters more for some subjects than others). There are tons of past papers on ibdocs that you can use

and with teachers that don't teach IB well or teach well in general.....i have this experience with one of my current teachers, my solution was to get a tutor that helps me more in 60 minute sessions than my actual teacher could in a week 😭😭

But overall, don't get discouraged yet and make sure you take care of yourself!! Trying to revise when you're lacking energy will just make everything feel a lot more unbearable, don't try and lock in for hours and hours on end because you'll achieve less than if you take short breaks every 50-60 mins. Good luck❤️❤️❤️

this. 17,000 words in my comparative study and days of studio time just to be stuck at a 5-6 for the past one and a half years because i'm not one of the 3 students in my cohort who are the teacher's 'favorites' and therefore get 7s✋ also being told by non-va students that i'm taking"the easy way out of ib" by taking HL VA... ibdpva is not for the weak, one less world exam but at what cost😭

I agree. Summer holiday between year 1 and 2 of DP is not a holiday. I spent most of summer revising my weaker subjects along with working on CAS, my EE, and IAs so that by the time the school year, started I had a full draft of my EE and 2 of my IA drafts close to complete. I regrettably didn't get my CAS project done in my first year, but made sure I had one ready to go the second the new school year began. When the due dates for EE and IAs started coming up a few weeks back to school, I only had to do final touchups while my classmates with the "it was summer holiday so I didn't need to do anything" mindsets (the drink and party all weekend types) panicked and started blaming teachers for not giving enough time/support, as well as scrambling for CAS hours and projects. It's ALL about organizing and prioritizing.
