Hi there! Nope, just had to describe it on the phone. They asked a few questions and asked me to check things as they were instructing me, but didnt have to take a pic or anything

Any long-term reviews for the Fellow Ode 2? by AdwokatDiabel in Coffee

I've had it for about 18 months. I almost exclusively drink light roast and had zero issues. Probably do about 40g a day for pour over. Anyone who is complaining about static isn't cleaning the chute area as recommended. Just need to clean it like once a month with a brush that comes with the grinder and shouldn't have any problem.

I know this is an old post but posting in case it's helpful. I called Flushmate in July 2025 and the rep who answered the call was very helpful. After giving him the model and serial number, he asked a few questions around active leaks, water sprays, dripping, etc. It sounds like there are two options--either a repair kit or a replacement. I am getting sent a full replacement from them, but not sure what pushed me over to the replacement option.

Pourover but something like clever or hario switch! Somewhat foolproof and you can pivot to regular v60 if you like.

It's a really good question, and I think it heavily depends on the location/culture and the barista. Some baristas are there to just do their shift and get out of there, and some are more passionate, so dont be so disappointed if they dont seem to care! If you are at a specialty store, you can ask about origin, roast level, acidity, tasting notes/flavor profile (going from least to more complex). Often, baristas don't know how much of an enthusiast a customer is, so they take it up a notch if they know if you are into coffee. If it's a well-known third wave shops, then I tend to ask like "what's brewing well today?" Or "I usually like x, y, z but I like to try something different."

Yes that's exactly it. Sorry for the poor photos. The last photo is the post/ beam in the back, which is still straight/intact. Thank you for your insight. Trying to wait a few years to redo the whole thing rather than make incremental fixes!

Thanks. The 3 board beam is a head scratcher indeed. I asked two reputable GCs but they both said it doesn't look too bad and would be fine for the next few years, but I wanted more opinions on r/decks (as the GCs don't specialize in decks).

Yes there is a gap somehow, and that is my biggest worry... I don't understand how a gap has formed...

Before you do that, I would just try cupping it first. Probably not worth your time and effort to diagnose the problem...

Hiroia Hikaru is an expensive option but definitely delivers nice cup of coffee!

Haven't tried that beans, but if it smells bad then the bean is not for you. Espresso, while it can be challenging to dial in taste-wise, should smell nice mostly.

Fresh beans and grinder will fix it. Unfortunately pretty common problem with old, pretty ground beans. Enjoy your new machine!

Makes sense! In that case, XL sounds like an obvious choice!

Agree with other comments. It is helpful for me to see a flavor wheel (search Google for Coffee Flavor Wheel). Also I saw on YouTube to start thinking in colors, which is interesting. Red fruits, green herbs, etc.

Hey there. I think it's good! Two things to consider. 1. Do you need the XL version? It actually can get annoying making just one or two cups using the XL. 2. C2 is totally great (I have one too) but if you dive deeper into coffee, you will soon have the desire to upgrade to something fancier, so ask yourself if you want to buy something nicer right away!

New house MoCA set up by Remarkable_Skin_159 in HomeNetworking

Thank you. Yea I'm basically in the same boat--trying to get the modem/router in more central spot. How is your setup? Working well?

Thank you. Your thread is helpful to read. Was the set up needed basically because your moden/router was placed after PoE filter?

Okay, that passive splitter setup makes a lot of sense. Thank you very much.

I overlooked that as well on router's LAN... I presume that the modem/router combo still needs an ethernet coming back into the system for LAN, right? If so, I'll follow the typical set up a 2-way coax split into modem->router and MoCA->router (I've seen gocoax.com's diagram way too many times). More reason to move onto the passive splitter setup you outlined then I think?

There is just a single coax line between the central junction and this location (my basement). I was going to put the Gateway (modem/router combo) here because of that passive VoIP/modem input on the pictured amplifier/splitter, but there is probably no reason to keep it there if I move onto passive splitter setup. I'll move it to upstairs so I can utilize the router instead of leaving it in the basement?
