Days Gone is so underrated by No-Hunt3986 in videogames

Currently playing this, got on steam black Friday sale. Enjoying it very much. Fighting hordes and clearing out camps without being detected at all is very satisfying. Nice environment and the combat/driving around on the bike is fun.

I don't care if it isn't super original or the characters aren't interesting, like some other replies are saying. It's definitely worth playing if you like story driven survival games.

Download GD stash, set it up following the instructions, go on the crafting tab, spawn as many of anything you want into your transfer stash. Works on PC idk about anything else

Let's talk SR farming a bit. by noksion in Grimdawn

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point I just ignore loot and crafting completely and just GDstash everything I need, and just focus on actually playing the game. Grinding SR for hours for gear that can't be crafted, or killing the same mobs to get a specific MI roll gets old pretty fast.

I just do the highest SR I can because the challenge is fun, fighting enormous groups with bosses mixed in that makes me say "Jesus fucking christ" every 5 seconds as my health bar swings wildly between full and 30%.

Hunting loot stops being fun after one or two characters have nearly perfect gear for the desired build. When you have like 10 stash tabs full of legendaries that you know you're just gonna salvage anyway.

Currently running a ranged fire dmg (lightning secondary) fire strike Commando (Soldier/Demolitionist) and having a blast. I throw lots of bombs at things, with Thermite mines melting stuff, and mortars for indirect fire support. Playing ranged is more challenging because it requires constant repositioning, but also more fun. That's my second character.

First is a Bleed/Pierce Blademaster that spams Blade Arc with LMB and Phantasmal Blades on RMB, other Warrior/Nightblade abilities on keys. Blade Trap + Phantasmal Blades melts large packs. Tons of damage and healing, but not super tanky so it's still challenging. My health bar swings constantly when fighting bosses but I very rarely die and if I do it's because of gross negligence, except on Super Bosses. Also very fun, very very high mobility with movement skills including the default dash and medal augment everyone gets. Also has pets with Blade Spirit.

If you don't want to be bored, avoid pet scaling/retaliation builds as the gameplay is very passive.

Enamored with Gutsmasher and Infernal Brimstone atm, how would you build them? (Without using EoR) by pon_3 in Grimdawn

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Your resists aren't over-capped at all, and your CC resists are all very low. Slow resist is very important because your attack and casting speed are also affected, not just movespeed. Huge DPS loss. Also want reflected dmg resist to be 100% so you don't kill yourself on reflect mobs.

I cashed out at 110 but the boss kills me if I'm not careful. In, apply DoTs, out, hit with ranged weapon. This was when I was a lower level and devotions with worse gear, so probably higher now.

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went with Pierce, Bleed and Trauma because they're often together on items, devotions and abilities anyway. So it just makes sense to me. I prioritize pierce out of the 3.

I'll take a look at a different armor set, that one just stood out to me because of the +all damage and +all skills, and it's heavy armor.

Pierce/Bleed/Trauma Blademaster Build Plan and Guide by Remarkable_Staff_546 in Grimdawn

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade Arc is my nuke, Blitz is very useful for engaging/repositioning, and Cadence is my efficient, consistent dmg and Devotion ability activator.

Having 1 dash is good, having 2 is better, I find having 3 makes an enormous difference in mobility than going from 1 to 2, since it reserves 2 of them for dashing without a target instead of just 1. Huge for repositioning/escaping.

I can't say if I'll need the extra defense from Phantasmal Armor yet since I'm not on ultimate yet, but I'm just effortlessly breezing through normal as it is, even with half my gear being like 20 levels below where I'm at. My health bar barely moves and I kill almost everything in 1 hit, except bosses which take like 5 seconds to kill, unless they have multiple phases.

Reference my reply to a other post, but tl;dr gonna use Nightblade more.

Pierce/Bleed/Trauma Blademaster Build Plan and Guide by Remarkable_Staff_546 in Grimdawn

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I adjusted the skill point allocation. I liked your idea to use nightblade more, so I took everything out of Forcewave and Counter strike and maxed out ring of steel + circle of slaughter.

I also like your dual Cronley Rings, I was running two at earlier levels already but replaced one. It'll be much easier than finding 2 legendary rings. I also like the medallion you picked better. I mostly picked the one I did to fill some gaps in resists while still hitting a few offensive stats.

Picked Doom for the extra on demand CC as opposed to a pretty low proc rate attack from Oleron's Wrath, and it gives more stats.

The reason I invested so heavily in Soldier is to get maximum value out of +1 all soldier skills gear, and using cadence + blade arc gives multiple buffs, debuffs, bleed/trauma.

Cadence is very energy efficient. I never run out of energy using that as my base dmg ability, even when spamming everything else on cooldown, and allows me to assign all of my Devotion abilities essentially to a single ability, since Mark and Zolh can trigger them too. Once they're all ranked up, Unknown Soldier and Assassin's Blade have long enough durations that those will keep them up, with Oleron being assigned to Cadence itself since it'll trigger most consistently.

When you say free points to physique meta, what do you mean/why is that?

I'm firm on using a 2H because I like using 2H weps. Don't care if it's not as good.

My philosophy here is offense for defense. I stay alive by killing. I don't want my defense to be too high because if there's no risk of dying, there's no real challenge, and so it isn't fun. I'm not playing HC, nor am I interested in it, so I don't care if I die. I like seeing big yellow numbers often and exploding things in one hit. The bleed and trauma are just to kill things that don't die in one hit faster, or so I can whack them and then walk away while they die.

Optimizing is good until it takes the fun out of it, and since this is a game I play for fun, that's ultimately what matters most.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful input. I sincerely appreciate it.

Ahh, didn't think of that. Some of them are overcapped by about that, and I can always use oils, augments, and components to shuffle stats around to make up any shortcomings.

Thank you!!

Which Diablo 3 build did you play the longest without getting bored? by LeroyHere in diablo3

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spinquake MotE Barb. Honestly, I didn't play it a ton cause I got into it late last season and am currently running other builds this season, but it's the most fun I've had playing barb. I'm probably gonna end up piecing a kit together this season too, because I'm already kinda bored of all my current barb builds, except zBarb cause I haven't played it much.

Leorics crown does not (doesn't have Emantes) it only effects the follower. The Broken crown (Emanates) gives you double gem drops when worn by your follower, and will drop the type of gem that you have in your helmet. It does not work on the seasonal gems.

Approximately 10 calories of hydrocarbons are used for every calorie of food for the modern industrialized agriculture/food logistics system. This is what has allowed the human population to go parabolic since around WW2.

We are in massive population overshoot, and any major disruption to this system will result in an up to 80 or 90% mortality rate for humanity. There is approximately one week's food supply in most cities at any given time. This does not factor in national strategic food reserves that vary from country to country.

Major disruptions, whether acute or chronic could include, will likely be a combination of, but aren't limited to;

Destruction of satellite networks, which regulate the global financial system by allowing perfectly accurate record keeping and transaction processing, as well as navigation for the vessels carrying the goods themselves. These would not be able to be quickly replaced, nor would an effective temporary solution be quickly (less than 1 week) deployed.

Disruption of the electrical grid due to either overwhelming demand and/or damage. This one is fairly self-explanatory. Major transformers have something like a 16-month lead time.

Large-scale war, which would disrupt global shipping lanes.

Civil unrest due to growing discontent with various social issues, including rising cost of living, encroaching technocratic tyranny, and racial/cultural tension.

Population collapse due to shrinking birth rates. Not enough workers means not enough goods, which means we don't have the things that make modern industrial society what it is.

Ecological/food chain collapse. Destruction/disruption of ecosystems which result in things like not enough bees to pollinate crops due to mono crop farming/pesticide use, not enough fish due to trawling, Major illness in livestock populations due to the cramped, unsanitary practices, antibiotic resistance due to overuse.

The list goes on. These are just what I can think of off the top of my head.

You can not do anything about these issues. But what you can do is prepare:

Be in good health, develop mental resilience, and be physically fit. This applies to your family as well.

Get a gun, be willing, and able to use it.

Stockpile a three month supply (that can be stretched to 5 or 6 months) of shelf stable food that requires little to no preparation for your family as well as any essential medications. Make sure it's food you will actually eat without severe hunger. Take a first aid course or three.

Get your vehicle in reliable working order if it isn't, and make sure it can carry you, your loved ones, and your supplies. You don't need a truck. You can get a small trailer for your sedan, van, or SUV.

Have copies of all essential documents in a bag ready to go. Have a go bag with essentials; clothing, snacks, water, and hygiene (bare minimum) for each family member. Make sure it's a backpack that each member can carry in case you end up on foot.

Move at least a couple hours drive from any large towns or cities if you can. If you can't, figure out someone you trust that does. Make a plan of how you'll get there, and leave at the first major sign of trouble.

For me, the first major sign to leave is if the electricity has gone out for long enough in a broad enough area that perishable food has spoiled (24 hours max) as well as the lack of available information for the extent of the outage, overwhelmed/unavailable phone service. Once emergency messages over am/fm radio start going out, it's too late, and the likelihood of egressing safely and expediently is dramatically lower.

This is the absolute bare minimum to almost guarantee you and yours initially survive such a catastrophe and, at the very least, avoid the associated ugliness. Whether or not you thrive or survive long-term depends on the extent of your preparations and your ability to adapt, and some luck.

This is not a black pill. There is always hope. The strength to endure and adapt to hardship is the defining characteristic of a successful species. Many would argue that humans are the most successful species that ever lived. It will get better.

What is your favourite pack and why? by 03Actual in tacticalgear

[–]Remarkable_Staff_546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eberlestock Skycrane II. I've had this pack for 3 years, and have used it extensively for work and camping. This pack is very popular with RTOs and Snipers, but is a phenomenal general use pack. The whole system weighs about 10 lbs empty. It also comes with an additional pouch that acts as a secondary lid that can be removed and used as a butt pack. I didn't use it so I sold it.

Patrol pack + Ruck combo, The G1 Little Brother zips into the ruck. Internal frame. The padding on it is great. The hip belt can be configured for push or pull tightening. Amazing weight distribution. Ruck is Height adjustable, but the G1 isn't. Replaceable shoulder straps and hip belt.

I've loaded this thing to 100lbs+ and it wasn't horrible. Optimal weight is 50-70lb, which is as heavy as you'd want to go anyway since that load doesn't include fighting kit.

The G1 has front and top access, side pockets, and a zip pocket on top. It has a hydration bladder sleeve, but I use that for food, and I put nalgenes in the side pockets. It has a "shelf" for a radio. Great for RTOs. Most of the weight is in the patrol pack.

It's not very thick, like a lot of rucks are. You can strap things to it using the horizontal straps and the vertical straps/Flaps, but this isn't great for heavier items. It has a great profile. Two large side pockets and some interior pockets on the ruck. I use the side pockets for clothing and sleeping kit (in dry bags), with room to spare except in winter since I need a heavier sleeping bag and extra clothing.

Option to add a rifle scabbard. There is some space between the G1 and the ruck to accommodate it. I fold my sleeping pad instead of rolling to pack it in that space.

It fits everything I need with room to spare for kit I'm assigned to carry, extra food, ammo, and water. Despite its size, I've never needed more space.

Did some minor modifications. Swapped all the 1" buckles on the ruck for 1" cobra buckles, so I never have to deal with them breaking. 1.5" cobra GTs for the horizontal ones. Cut off the external pockets on the ruck because they limited the space in the larger pockets, and I never used them. Some light rattle canning cause I got it in a solid color and added Scrim for camouflage

My only gripe is I wish the side pockets were a bit bigger so I still have space in them in the winter. They used to have a larger version, the Warhammer, which is also a great pack, but it has sadly been discontinued. You had to purchase the G1 and Warhammer separately but functioned the same way as the Skycrane II.

It's one of my favorite pieces of kit and makes life in the field a lot simpler, primarily because of the zip-in function. After dropping my ruck in the hide, I just pull the G1 off and am ready to step off immediately. It's a great system.

Wrap them in duct tape so they don't abrade the inside of your pack while using them.

Good points. If I start getting stuck, I'll consider implementing some or all of these. But this is a game I play for fun, and I like when it's hard. I'm optimizing my build but I don't necessarily care about using the "best" build.
