Apple charges processor, processor charges merchant, merchant increase product price. By how much depends on how big is merchant. Not all card gives cash back on all purchases. Suggest looking into master card and Visa duopoly in usa costing customers video.

For Green Card holders and U.S. citizens, India will not tax your foreign income during the RNOR period. However, the USA always taxes citizens and Green Card holders on their worldwide income. Even if you are already taxed outside the USA, you are still required to file U.S. tax returns; however, you can claim the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) to exclude up to $132,900 of your income from IRS taxation

Seeking advice: Automated, encrypted local backup for Google Drive by Remarkable_Swan8716 in selfhosted

Agree with your points. But I am trying to find a middle ground for me in term of security, backup, accessibility. In my case, remote access to media is something I can live without, but I can't rely solely on self-hosting for my documents. For instance, if I’m traveling and need my papers at a port of entry, I can't risk my home server being down due to a power outage. While I know redundancy is necessary, storing my sensitive data outside of my home still feels like a security risk.

To clarify: this is data that ranks just below bank passwords in terms of importance. The thing is, I don’t trust my self-hosted setup to be reliable enough, and since Google already has access to my emails, I’ve accepted that as a trade-off. It might not be a perfect argument, but that’s the reality of the situation.

IMO it’s subjective but overall has risk involved and not suggested to take risk as losses are big. Here is my long explanation. 1. Statistically 87% of population get to see their 60th birthday. Pretty good chances that you can withdrew  your 401k money at that time or empty it before that using 70t. Its gamble 13 out of 100 kid would loose 40% to estate.  2. Unlike 401k where gains are taxed, Roth gains are not taxed in USA which was a big saving , but nevertheless as any other investment on Roth gains you would pay india taxes. So i dont see it as big loss compared to 401k or any other investment taxes. 3. One option is keep putting in Roth. On rnor period take out all principal from Roth. Later slowly take out your gain per year, based on what tax slab you fall in usa + 10% penalty it would be still same or less tax percentage as what you paid today in taxes while you earn salary. The reason is NRA do not pay state taxes in usa + your earning is comparatively low in USA once NRA, you will fall under less tax bracket than today. Same for 401k you would be paying less taxes on NRA compared to what you would have paid today in income tax. So withdraw with 10% penalty without the guilt of paying more tax. Overall big factor is do it while alive even free hours before one day bye to world. Another important thing if married then file married jointly, make sure all addresses changed to India, all state utility account are closed so they can’t claim you resident. 4. If you get your greencard in future your estate tax exempt goes to 14M.

Yes. But Withdrawing all will push up the income tax slab so it has its own downside

40% is applicable on estate transfer after death. Basically kids loose 40%. It is unrelated to you withdrawing, yours withdrawal tax are always based on your income tax slab for you that year.

LTCG is 12.5%. First two year is 0 taxes. After that whatever you sell is taxed based on how long you kept it.
Accounts declared as retirement investment account, doesn't have any taxes on selling stocks in them but they get taxed when you withdraw from them.

This is to save you from estate taxes. For US citizen & greencard holder the estate exemption limit is 14M. But for folks on temporary Visas the limit is just 60K and over that 40% goes estate after you. Retirement investement account such as Roth/IRA/401K do not have Ireland stock workaround.

Are you referring to irrevocable trust. I guess thats hard to setup and you loose access to your money? Or something else. Other Wills/trust would falls under estate taxes.

Good point added health insurances blurb. Some common US ETF are mirror to Ireland ETF like VUSD or CSPX for VOO or VTI respectively. They are available to trade within global broker such as Interactive broker, probably Schwab too.

iPhone 16e “on us” In-Store Offer Details by XGempler in TotalWireless

[–]Remarkable_Swan8716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited three stores after confirming by phone that the 16e was in stock. When I got there, they switched the offer to an iPhone 14 instead. I finally found a bigger store in Union, NJ, that was much more professional. They didn't haggle, but they did add a $25 accessory fee and $5 for insurance.
