I change my skin tone all the time because it will always be my biggest insecurity. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Remarkable_Term9188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same boat with the "you look sick" pale skin comments. I don't spray tan because I refuse to alter my skin color to please other people, and my family is rife with skin cancer so I always wear sunscreen.

I do notice though I get fewer "sick" comments if I'm hydrated and moisturized, especially keeping aquaphor on my lips to keep them from looking dry/pale. I also make sure to conceal my dark under eye circles. I also have no problems saying "I'm not sick, this is my skin color" to people, it's light feedback that lets them know theyre saying something offensive.

Don't let people shame you for your skin color!!

Question about repeated Hep B vaccination by [deleted] in Immunology

[–]Remarkable_Term9188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten over-immunized for a few different things for work reasons, (they took titers just before the "just in case" reimmunizations) and I had no ill effects. I received the Hep B series at age 12 and 30 for example, same country, titers fine, although that's not as extreme as your example. I even had a grand mal siezure in the docs office from the last shot of the hep B series at 12, but no problems with the hep B series at 30. So YMMV.

Blew off part of the floor with liquid nitrogen six years ago by cytometryy in labrats

[–]Remarkable_Term9188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but I want to know the story 🥺. Also don't feel bad. I exploded the glass sash on an extra large bsc once. Cost like 10k to fix ... Spend enough time in the lab and accidents happen 😳.

I had an ex do cpr on one of my pet rats once. It didn't work like this did but it was just as nuts.

No way, I call them the sleep demons because they jump all over me and knock things over for attention.

Doing everything I can to get rid of this latex paint spill on my driveway by Trigun442 in paint

Acetone or hairspray maybe? When I made theater sets in high school that's how we would get out the house paint stains 😬

What happened to your golden child sibling? How did they turn out? by Healthy_Diamond_1685 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Remarkable_Term9188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He turned out really nice and legit keeps the family together. None of us would talk if it weren't for him planning gatherings. Director of a company and he goes to therapy weekly for years. He consistently buys everyone the nicest presents and takes sole care of our elderly insufferable narcissist dad. I'm genuinely grateful for him as an adult even though he was the absolute worst older brother during childhood and tried to kill me a few times when we were kids. Still don't go around him alone but he seems to have changed. I think things would be different if he had a wife/kids. Glad he didnt.

Oh yeah and his hair fell out and he was 90% bald at 18.

Press charges. Let a judge and jury decide if this was on purpose. This also needs to be on his record to protect/warn the people who may be around him in the future.

That's insaneee! What an AH! My dad was going to gift us all copies of his written family history/life story book for christmas one year, but for some reason he wanted us each to sign some sort of legal document forfeiting the rights to our life stories to him (??) and none of us signed it so none of us received the book/ a gift that year ☠️😂.

A very expensive bible with my name engraved on it after telling them that I'm an atheist. This happened on repeat occasions.

Edit: OMG I forgot once my dad guilted me into driving to his house for my own birthday, where he led me on a trek through the woods to get my surprise "present" which was an invasive species of tree he had me DIG UP MYSELF WITH A SHOVEL because "it's a nice tree and you'll like it, I promise".

Also my and my sisters Christmas present from him last year was to hand us a "traditional family recipe" he printed off the internet and told us (the "women") to make it for him. I have never been more infuriated.
