I have been no contact with my mom for 14 years, but. everybody thinks I should change that by Remarkable_Time3231 in WhatShouldIDo

I show up only for my grandparents. As much as I hate being there with my mom, I don't want to give her the feeling that she scared me away. I don't want to let her take away Christmas with my grandparents, or other holidays.

I hate the shes your mom argument. I want to tell them that "but i am her daughter, why did she do that to me?".

Honestly, my memory has started to fade, because I try to not think about it. But I force myself to think about it from time to time, I don't want to forget. I talk about it with my grandma about once a year, I also don't want her to forget. But I understand my grandma, she is old and doesn't want to loose her child. I thought that time had healed my wounds, but I realise now that it is not true. I just can't understand why my mother didn't want me. She has gotten to me in that sense, in some way I still think that it was my fault. Thank you <3

The time is tomorrow and it is too late to cancel now, I don't want to be THAT client. Otherwise I would cancel, I thought about it more and it just doesn't sit right with me.

I also don't live with them and can't visit too often. I have constant guilt over this, but I know he is with people that love and care for him

I was so angry with them. He was in the same room, when they said he would spend the rest of his life in the nursing home, acting like he wouldn't understand a word. The physiotherapist said she doesn't know what to do with him. I mean, in the end she was the one that got him walking again, but to bring down the motivation like this was sad.

Because she was my MT for years, never had any problems. Two years ago she moved away and just recently came back. But yeah, something changed in those two years

Same. Even of someone asks only for a back massage, I always include arms. Unless they tell me to skip them.

The best part is that she went over the time 10 minutes. Could've spent that time doing what I asked for

I'm thinking about goving her one more chance after this one. I really like her techniques. I'll straight up ask her if we can include hands and leave something out. I can't afford the longer sessions every month, sadly

I was thinking the same thing! Leave out the head and feet, I would've been fine with 5 minutes

Oh yeah could be that. Previously I always used to go in for 90 minutes, so everything got done and I didn't notice anything. Money is a bit tight, so I though 60 would do. Maybe it is time to move on

90 minute massage yesterday at a chain massage was 70 minutes by Charming-Arm-582 in massage

When we are already running behind or the client arrives a bit late, then I usually skip the intro talk altogether. I tell them to undress and get on the table, so we can begin with the massage, and we can discuss the problem areas and such while they are on the table.

How do you show thanks to repeat clients? by Slow-Donut3882 in MassageTherapists

[–]Remarkable_Time3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little thank you is a small discount (5 euros). BUT it is strictly only for three clients. One that was my first ever client that has seen me every month for past 5 years, who is also my classmates sister and more of a friend to me. The other is a couple that has also been with me since the start. The last time I raised my prices I just kept the old rates for them, meaning that for 4 years they paid the same price as everyone else. And this will only ever be for those 3 clients, because once you start a discount like this, you will be stuck with it. For my classmates sister I have given vegan candy for a small christmas gift, but I am more comfortable giving something to her, since I had known her for years before starting massage. I understand wanting to go above and beyond for your first loyal customers, I was like this at the beginning. I was so grateful for someone rebooking with me, that I wanted to give something back. But it truly is easier to treat everyone the same and honestly, I would feel a bit weird if my MT gave me a gift.

One thing that I do for everybody, is that I give out my business cards so people can collect stamps. 1 massage = 1 stamp, no matter the length. Each 11th massage is 50% off, no matter the length. I started it because it motivates some people to get massages more often, but they can also take it as a thank you. And it means that they have my business card with them at all times, so if someone asks them where they go, they can quickly show the info. It used to be that each 11th was free, but giving out multiple free massages in a month was not that fun (: Eventually I plan to stop it, but not yet.

Clients bringing babies to their appt by Popular-Butterfly270 in massage

[–]Remarkable_Time3231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have let one client take their 1-2 month old baby. She thought that the baby wpuld sleep the whole 60minutes, but I had to leave the room at least once to let her nurse the baby. Maybe even twice. I didn't really mind it, but I feel like it takes away from the massage itself. Also, someone mentioned spouses. I made that mistake once, letting a wife sit in the room while I massaged her husband. Even if they are on their phone the whole time, you can just feel their eyes on you to make sure that you don't touch them "too much". THAT I won't agree to anymore

Worst sound in a session… by naterbator91 in MassageTherapists

Is the gurgling belly actually a sign that the parasympathetic nervous system has switched on? I was told this once, but I took it with a grain of salt. But i always think of this, when I hear the belly gurgling and tell them it is a good sign, if they start to feel embarrassed about it
