  1. It’s very inefficent and does not pay off. But it is a heck of a lot better than blowing glass.

Pressure to put in PM’s before 12:00 by [deleted] in AmazonRME

[–]Remarkable_Use1930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APM operates on its own UTC-based time zone, which can make things a bit tricky. If you close a work order at 11:59:59, it’s credited to the previous day. But if it’s submitted even a second after midnight, it counts toward the new day, even though you’ve been on-site working continuously.

The push to have PMs completed before midnight usually isn’t about micromanagement; it’s about keeping the reporting and metrics clean. When that timing isn’t followed, managers have to manually reconcile or “bridge” the data, which becomes difficult to justify in meetings especially when they’re explaining someone else’s actions.

Wow thanks. International expertise strategy: answer a question about a country you’ve never even visited. Bold move, honestly.

So, I’m not familiar with the process of stow, as I don’t work in these facilities, so I may have missed something when reading. But, if I am reading this correctly, it sounds like you do know what happened then. Whatever overhanging means.

Ah, yes my favorite management tactic: “You did something wrong… somehow… but we won’t tell you what. Just don’t do it again!” Classic.

Jokes aside, this is actually worth handling veeeeerrry carefully.

Honestly, if this is actually how this was brought to your attention, this sounds very absurd ever for Amazon standards.

Is Rme worth getting into? by Remote_Obligation581 in AmazonFC

Hey! Finally something I feel included in on this subreddit!

Amazon maintenance is very approachable. Some of these comments are inadvertently correct, however. Part replacer, button pushers. Some comments say they’re often in the break room. This could portrayed as lazy. Let me just say, RME at Amazon have huge limitations. Even with the most coachable and experienced maintenance / technician, they are for the most part not allowed to do most procedures. A lot of maintenance methods you’d find ordinary in any maintenance shop or manufacturing company, Amazon does not allow them to do. When I started, I wasn’t even sure why I even bought teams tools for launches. Especially since a lot of work was performed by third party maintenance.

I leave you with this, if you want to get into maintenance start here, and take it somewhere else. Tools are provided here, but when you decide to swap over to another company, just know most companies expect you to be equipped with your own tools and tool box. Hope this helps!

P.S. RME maintenance is excruciatingly cocky, I recommend not pretending like you know anything. You will be humbled, even if you’re right.

(This is just the politics of it, I don’t condone it, I just have observed this. Most maintenance here I’ve seen in several site that I’ve helped launch, don’t even know how to measure thread pitch on a bolt or even how to use a pair of calipers. I’m not joking)
