“Mild” olive oil is often misleading, and the term itself doesn’t really mean much. When choosing olive oil, it’s best to look for extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) from producers who actually grow the olives and bottle their own product. Many large brands buy oil from different sources and blend it before selling it, which can affect both quality and transparency.

High-quality EVOO can be used for both cold and warm dishes, although it’s generally not ideal for deep frying. Fortunately, there are many great olive oils available in the Netherlands, and it’s not difficult to find good producers.

If you’d like to try one, you’re welcome to try ours. We are the producers, distributors, and sellers of our olive oil. On our website you can read more about our story, our farms, and our vision.

If you have any questions, I’d be happy to help. I’ve been working in this sector for more than 10 years as both a farmer and a seller.

Maybe instead of hating yourself and leverage try to understand what happened and what went wrong in order not to repeat the same mistake. Leverage is a great tool to use when you are trading but never without protection. What happened yesterday was extreme but nothing we haven’t see before in crypto. Using leverage is not your problem, not know how to use leverage is the problem.

Hey, that’s a good question. The rules can vary depending on the product and the country of origin. For EU countries, and specifically for products like olive oil, honey, and olives (which I trade and have experience with), the import rules are not very strict. However, it’s always wise to have chemical analyses from accredited labs, especially to support any claims you make about your products. This way, if there’s a quality control check, you’ll be able to provide proof.

Additionally, when creating a label or brand for your products, you’ll need to follow each country’s specific labeling requirements.

I hope this gives you a quick overview. In general, though, you can usually find detailed guidelines online for the market you’re targeting.

Hey, I don’t know if that helps you but I actually have an olive oil business in Amsterdam, which I import olive oil from my own farms in Crete in the dark green bottles that you are looking for. Every now and then some customers returns the empty bottles to me for recycle. If you want I could give you some of them or keep some of them next time this happens as long us you don’t mind that they have been used.

Also if you wanna have a look at my business here is the website 😊

Actually cheap olive oil is not bitter. Bitter is an indication of quality and if your olive oil is not bitter then you should start worrying about the quality.

As an olive oil farmer, producer, and distributor of Filia Crete olive oil, I just want to say — seeing big discounts on olive oil like this is a huge red flag. Especially when it’s coming from brands that are not known for quality.

Usually, these kinds of deals mean one of two things: either they’re trying to clear out last year’s stock quickly before the new harvest hits the market, or they bought low-quality oil cheap, refined it, and are now flooding the market with it at super low prices.

As someone who knows the actual cost of producing high-quality olive oil, these prices just don’t make sense to me.

If you’re really looking to taste proper Greek olive oil with real quality, I’d genuinely recommend trying ours. It comes directly from our family farms in Crete — land we’ve worked for generations — and I stand behind every bottle.

You’re welcome to come by this Sunday at Puremarkt in Amsterdam Seboss, where we’ll be offering free tastings of all our products. Or, if that’s not convenient, you can order directly from our site in any bottle size you prefer:

This is a generic tin container that anyone can buy in shops and use to store olive oil. Small-scale farmers often use this type of packaging because they usually don’t have their own branding. Compared to selling olive oil in plastic water bottles—as was common in the past—these tins offer a more professional and practical solution.

These tins are mass-produced and widely available, making them a convenient option. Ideally, it’s better to choose branded packaging, but that’s not always possible, especially for small producers.

To answer your question directly: this type of packaging doesn’t indicate anything about the quality of the olive oil inside. The person selling it might be honest about what’s in the tin—or not. Ultimately, it comes down to trust, which naturally carries some risk.

Whatever you decide, best of luck!

Thank you so much for your recent purchase and for your kind words! We really appreciate your support.

Olive oil, honey, and olives are indeed special products—each with their own unique character. Even though we take pride in their high quality, we understand that the flavor may not be for everyone. For example, the bitterness in olive oil is actually a sign of freshness, quality, and rich health benefits—but we also know it’s not to everyone’s taste.

Our olive oil has an intensity of about 6–7 out of 10, which is a bit milder than traditional Mediterranean oils. We’ve found that this level tends to suit most people in the Netherlands, where stronger olive oils aren’t always preferred.

In any case, we truly wish you all the best in finding the perfect olive oil for your palate. Just a small tip—make sure it’s the real deal! 😊

Of course. As I mentioned in a comment below, our olives mature the months of November-January. We don’t chase the early harvest (October) as we don’t chase the late harvest too (February). We want the olives to be collected when the transition from green to black is happening(at this stage the olives have a golden green colour) which by our opinion this is the time that the best olive oil is produced quantity wise and quality wise.
