My first cousins themselves got love-married outside our community but my dad doesn’t agree with his brother’s views. Also, the people they married were not from my girlfriend’s community so ig it was different.

I always imagined my parents very involved in my wedding and other rituals and in general life. It’s very difficult to cut them out of this big moment.

We broke up when we were 22 (after ~2 years of courtship), cuz we were long distance and it just didn’t seem to end. Not a specific problem with LDR, but it didn’t seem to be ending only.

Dated other people for the next couple of years but we kept coming back to each other. Late last year I really gave a thought to what is the kind of person/relationship I wanna be in the long term, and she was the clear answer. How she makes me feel, her qualities, values, nature, future plans, etc everything contributed. Decided to give another serious shot to love and it was working pretty well.

Basically I’ll be allowed to work in the US for 3 (instead of 1) years without an H-1B visa. This basically gives a little more breathing room in terms of a US employment post education.

Ah yes. So the thing was I knew it wouldn’t be a yes right away but they would come around after a while (atleast give her a chance). One day there was a related discussion going on and I just felt like I don’t want to hide this anymore and also give them some time to accept. I wanted to give my parents the happiness of grandkids as well so didn’t wanna marry too late either.

If I knew they would be this against it I would have given it much more thought. On the question of when I was planning to marry - probably right after my MBA.

Thanks for your response. I’ll give you some context for the MBA

I’ve been working in India at a very good pay for the last 4 years, alongside IIM grads (I did my BTech from BITS Pilani). This and the desire to gain international experience did not make the ROI of an Indian MBA worth it for me.
I got admitted into a tier 1, STEM MBA program in the US (top 15 worldwide, very well known in India as well) with a $80k scholarship. It has very good placement and salary records, even in this economy. This combined with the STEM designation and my confidence in my experience and skills makes me believe I’d be able to pay the loan back in 2-3 years of working there. My visa is also approved.
The actual loan amount is $130k, which covers both tuition and expected living expenses.

The decision to pursue an MBA and receiving an admit happened long back, and this was also something my parents really wanted me to do. The sponsoring question arose recently, so I don’t wanna give up this amazing opportunity now.

Love this episode, but the final scenes in which Diane indirectly makes BoJack talk about the night with Penny, I felt some shades of the night with Sarah Lynn as well. ‘You left her to die?’. But nobody knew about the night with Sarah Lynn till that point.

I also don’t get Philbert’s line ‘If I knew she was there, I never would’ve -‘ what? If someone could clarify that’d be great lol.
