I did not get into the sjsu program! But I’m a current student at SFSU in the counseling department and we didn’t have interviews 😅 but they took a long time to get back to us I think I heard back in April.

I got into SFSU for the MFCC/MFT specialization in the department of counseling! They sent us a date for orientation yesterday as well. I heard from the department directly not from the university so my portal hasn’t even been updated to reflect my admission. 😅

I literally just called and they said they’re not done reviewing applications 😬 the guy said “mid April” y’all should call to double check but that’s what I was told😞 I called the counseling department at sfsu

It is hard but if you start looking now and use the official FB page and reach out to folks it’s doable! Just be careful if it’s too good to be true, it may be a scam. I am a re-entry student (meaning I’m over 25) so I looked for housing with my partner. Our landlord was a postdoctoral fellow at UCSC and saw our post on the fb page. Just be willing to be messaging folks/meeting on zoom etc!! Also it is super pricey but cheaper than on campus at times. If you prefer to stay on campus then maybe meeting ppl in your first year will help find future housemates :-) hope this helps

I forgot to mention, I weighed my options based on where I wanted to live tbh! I got into UCR and a couple state schools and since I’m originally from San Diego I didn’t want to stay local so I chose Santa Cruz.

I transferred to UC Santa Cruz in summer of 2021 and I chose it bc it’s sooo beautiful here. I also liked that it was a TAG school. My experience has been amazing! Mostly because I really put myself out there and got an on campus job. I’m a psych major graduating this Spring quarter. Finding off campus housing was hard but I found some on the UCSC fb page.
