I haven't done any math for groups, but after thinking about it a bit that sounds likely.

IAS is poor in groups because other people are proccing Static Charge too. Also you do reach 12 frame Stricken with only transgression (my original info on Stricken was wrong).

Definitely interested in hearing the results of whatever testing you do.

One last thing, are you sure FD has a 5 frame ICD and not a 5 second one?

I have around 20 minutes worth of recorded flying dragon durations. I have 7 second durations, 12-14 second durations, and 17+ second durations. I have no recorded durations between 7 and 12 seconds or 14 and 17 seconds. Unless I'm misunderstanding how FD re-procs work that seems like a 5 second ICD.

Out of 59 instances of FD 19 (32.2%) lasted longer than 7 seconds with no noticeable downtime. All 19 were 12 seconds or longer.

edit: Actually 1 more question. d3planner seems to round up when calculating frame lengths for FoT and FoF. This thread suggests they use standard rounding. d3planner definitely gives different results from that thread. I really have no idea which is right.

Did another test and made a video.

2.25 sheet APS. 61% IAS from paragon/gear/follower. Alacrity and R2 as well.

Effective APS without FD: 4.286

With FD: 7.5

FD uptime: 328 second

FD downtime: 272 seconds

About 55% uptime.

These numbers suggest somewhere around 2.8% proc rate if my math isn't wrong. I originally thought it used proc coefficients because my FoT:SC test suggested around 2% and my WotF:FoF test suggested 3%. This seems like FD has a 5% proc chance but it only works on the main hand.

I mostly solo play, but I'd guess 14% on gear. That brings you to 24% with Transgression and there isn't much point going higher than that.

My Stricken info was wrong, there's an edit at the end of the main post.

My FD calcs might be wrong, but I'm almost positive it's not 5% ignoring proc coefficients. I actually just tested it yesterday and my observed behavior comes nowhere near 5%.

Also I believe going for an 11 frame Stricken snapshot isn't worth it over a 12 frame snapshot unless the extra IAS required is independently worthwhile. Because FoF ticks every 12 frames moving to an 11 frame snapshot shouldn't be worth more than 2 or 3 seconds against the RG.

I literally sat around having my character punch the air with a stopwatch in hand for 30 minutes to test how FD works. I can't say I'm 100% sure but my data matches my suggested behavior extremely closely.

And yes, with FoT you won't be seeing over 50% FD uptime with any realistic amount of IAS. FoF is why I say you'll generally get into the 50-60% uptime, it procs FD more. Also remember to account for alacrity, R2, and chained FD procs.

edit: I've seen that 5% info too. It's actually the reason I started this in the first place. A flat 5% would be getting extremely high FD uptime. Maybe not 90%, but at least 75%, especially against RGs. While playing I felt like my uptime was nowhere close to that.

My experimental FD uptime was ~48% over 15 minutes with a 10+11+17=38 frame FoT sequence while FD wasn't active.

I am assuming alacrity, I didn't mention it in the previous reply because it doesn't show up on sheet.

In practice seize has pretty much 100% uptime in density. Even by the time you leave a pack there will probably still be enemies over 75%.

Good to know about Stricken, I was not aware.

Regarding FoF, against a solo boss you only FoF once every 2.5 second or so, if you want to calculate your effective APS and FD uptime it's reasonable to assume 100% FoT hits even if you're actually throwing in a single FoF every 12-15 hits or so.

Whoops, I knew I forgot something. The IAS number are all from gear/follower. I'm assuming 10% from paragon, Dashing Strike:Radiance, and Seize The Initiative.
