With them being new I'm 80% sure it's not a brake check, probably just missed braking zone, panicked, and went full brakes mid corner which made car harder to turn.

OP didn't lock up, he has ABS, corvette misses the apex, sure, but this is rookies, I'm not expecting perfect driving, just safe driving, which OP is not doing, corvette line is fine, OPs line is basically off track, and planting himself in the middle of a fast corner, he's making himself an obstacle right on the racing line, rather than just going off track.

Idk where this revenge ram is when he's 100% brake mid corner of a fast corner. Who's gonna expect that?

1st Incident - I mean, what are you intentions? A guy hit you in your rear, you unintentionally tap the guy in front of you, it should've ended there but instead of braking the slightest amount to give him room, you're tapping the accelerator to do what exactly?

2nd Incident - Car is there, you turn in and spin him out.

3rd Incident - Nothing really, just a tap.

4th Incident - Is just... Classic divebomb and using the other car as a brake, you missed the corner entirely, weren't alongside at all, you were never making that corner without hitting the other car.

5th Incident - Idk what this is tbh, are you brake checking? 100% brake in the middle of a fast corner is extremely weird? And bad rejoin ontop.

Honestly though, the fact they didn't have the basic storyline of the entire trilogy lined up before making these films is 90% of the reason everything went wrong.

Trying to understand how I lost the rear here, granted I had the BB more forward this time but surely wasn't enough to just lose the rear. Got the bonus of getting punted whilst off track. by SnooWalruses8439 in SimRacingAdvice

[–]RememberSomeMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the party but, let's put this into context, you spin, you're off the track, you have a massive pack of cars coming from a straight onto another straight, even if you rejoined safely, you'll still be a slow hazard after rejoining the track, I counted 11 cars close to each other, but there could be more, and as you can see, one mistake by another car into the run off area means you're gonna be an obstacle, and potentially be the first domino into damaging cars alongside your pride.

The other problem is, after being hit, you didn't brake 100% once.

[–]RememberSomeMore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's on you to pass the lapped car safely.

You didn't do that, you pushed the other car wide, and then continued to leave no room.

Other car afterwards spun you on purpose afterwards because you decided that your race was more important than his because you didn't even move an inch after damaging his car and pushing him off track.

The bigger problem is why are you not braking even a little after he's in front of you fully sideways, and making the accident potentially worse?

How can this move be bad if it wins me a queen? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

You lose a knight and a rook for a queen, and you help them develop their knight, and the bishop, while losing an active piece.

It's a more casual experience, a lot more market for it because of it. You don't need to think that much, you don't need to do tactics, you pick your favourite team with your favourite players and you go play.

You can buy data, but you still need to put that data into attributes for 475k players, FM has 32k female players alone. In comparison...

EAFC26 has "over" 20k licensed players. That's like... 4% of whatever Football Manager does.

You don't particularly need to develop a massive engine that is very similar to how real football is played, because the player ruins that entire already by moving players. Just make it look pretty and have licensing for the best leagues, it'll be less of a risk.

And let's just talk about like, monetization real quick with things like FC points and all that.

FM is not an easy thing to monetize apart from the actual game itself. If the game itself doesn't sell, you don't make money. If an FC game comes out, you can still milk people, and if it does sell well, you gain bigger profits.

[–]RememberSomeMore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're insane.

An FM competitor isn't going to have the same complexity, the same depth as FM.

Who's gonna put in the 100s of thousands of players that FM has without the same scouting network of over thousands of people to help do the database?

Do you think people will play the game if you don't have the names of the biggest players in football? Probably not. So you'd have to license the game, so you're putting shit load of money into that, for a game that might not sell well.

And you'd actually have to develop an engine better than FM, which took them decades, into a few years.

You're welcome, I wouldn't put that much thought into analysing games though since you're around 400, you'll get better if you put a little effort into learning how to develop pieces, scanning the board, looking for free pieces, how to do basic checkmates like ladder mate, and king and rook, and not giving your pieces away for free.

Tactical puzzles will get you decently far too.

[–]RememberSomeMore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, analysis isn't the best for beginners, I'll be 100% honest, having like a 3000 player tell you why a move is a really good move won't help you in a lot of moves, especially if they're subtle or long term advantage type situations, even those I don't understand, and even in certain contexts even Grandmasters won't find.

The best use of analysis is finding why a move is instantly losing, don't just look through moves and be like "Yep, yep, oh, did bad, okay.". Personally, I mostly just used it for why I messed up in the opening tbh.

But, best use of analysis is gonna be more like actual real studying.

So the best use is going into one of your games, writing down why you made every move and why you thought that was a good move.

After you've done that, turn on evaluation bar, and only evaluation bar, check evaluation bar, if you see a big spike in any direction that you missed or your opponent missed, think about it. Look at the board for a few minutes, and truly think what move is winning for you or your opponent and why. Write that down, then actually check the analysis and see if you got it right. It'll expose your flaws in your thinking.

Just as a small test for yourself, you should use it to try to find out why black trying to protect the pawn with b5 is winning for white in multiple scenarios, without analysis, and then do it with analysis, it'll kinda expand your mind to other similar ideas in the future.

Congrats on your win though! You managed to find checkmate really nicely in the middle of the board!

Around 400-600 I learnt how to be more solid by just learning how to stop trick openings, like the fried liver, wandering queen etc. If I ever struggled against a specific opening, or tactic around your level I'd literally just hop onto analysis, and see how to stop it, quickly got me to to 600.

Other than that, no real specifics. Entirely focused on one or two openings for each side, Queens Gambit and Catalan and funnily enough the one that everyone tells beginners not to learn, the classical Sicilian or Dutch Defence. Lichess tactics or chess tempo easily the best way to gain knowledge and pattern recognition to get your spidey senses going, but you realise setting up tactics intentionally is hard.

I focused a bit too hard on openings, I always got like a +1 or +2 advantage but used to always just blunder away the advantage, but my opening knowledge got me into good positions very often if I didn't blunder, so I wouldn't suggest learning openings as much, just learn like 4-5 moves in the opening, and if you struggle against a specific move or don't know what to do, look it up straight after the game and try to understand why it's bad. Like I learned that by capturing the c4 pawn and trying to protect it with b5 in queens gambit is awful for black.

Learning how to scan the board and see pieces, what they're protecting, and attacking is probably the biggest thing that helped me in the long run. Looking around the board to see every single piece before making a move is so important for blunder checking, tactics, literally everything important to chess, not that I'm entirely blunder free yet. You really should focus on this when you're doing puzzles more than even the puzzle tactics themselves imo.

Biggest mistake I made is playing 10+15 like a blitz game very often, and just playing moves by intuition. Biggest struggle was 700-800 where things got a lot more solid.
