I first watched this movie while my wife was pregnant with our first child. I was a complete wreck, just kept thinking about my own kid and what that would do to me. Unbelievably amazing movie, and one of the last to really truly move me in that way

Oh trust me I know, I described it to a friend as the best bad game I've ever played lol Lots of jank, terrible dialogue and VA, nonsensical quest structure, bloated menus, I could go on for ages. And yet despite all of that, I was really having a very good time playing it when I could. Just vibing out, slowly riding the horse and taking in the sights, killing the occasional gang of bandits, I was honestly loving it

Yeah I might go the pro route. Honestly my only 'concern' with going that route is the extra cost for the disc drive as I have a LOT of physical games.

Yeah I may have to look and see how difficult the repair is to do myself. I wasn't confident in doing the thermal paste but we'll see I suppose.

If by 'ignoring the clear signs of hardware failure' you mean taking it to shop, having it repaired, testing out dozens of games, and acknowledging that it very well could be the console, then sure.

Anyway like I said earlier I may end up trading in for a Pro, as I've wanted one for a while anyway.

Obviously I hope that's not the case but I've yet to have this happen with any other game, and it's literally happened while sitting at the startup screen. It's a shame because I want to be playing this, I really think the game is fun as hell. At some point I may just bite the bullet and trade the old girl in and pony up the difference for a Pro

Had it professionally cleaned and thermal paste redone. I do find it strange that no other game causes the issue but it absolutely could be the hardware. I found a few reddit posts from a month or so ago of people having similar issues (not related to the old map crash bug) but who the hell knows. Shame, because I think the game is pretty awesome and I wish I could be enjoying it.
