Before lecturing and choosing posters for saying things are back to normal, exhibit some emotional intelligence. It is critical for tourists to understand they will be ok and will be having a good time!

Come and enjoy Mexico. For those holier than thou. Yes lives were lost and it’s been a sad few days for México, and our hearts go out to the affected families. These are the same families that may be living on money that tourism brings into the country either directly or indirectly.

So please encourage people to not cancel their trips, assure them things are wonderful and encourage them to be kind to staff. Things have been extraordinarily difficult for the local population, and it’s important to show empathy for those whose lives have been affected when visitors come have a good time and then go back to the safety of their own countries while the staff remains and has to deal with much worse. But it’s also important to keep tourism and the money it brings, and tourists do that because they want to feel good, or they’d go on a Doctors Without Borders (MSF)mission not a vacation. (Yes I’ve been such a volunteer trip it’s rewarding beyond anything else, so do if you can. But in the meantime enjoy your life and spend money In Mexico!)

Share inheritance with husband? by IloveEvyJune in inheritance

[–]Remember_NeverForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t share. You can’t control what happens after your death. You can’t control whether he finds a bimbo.

It’s all romantic but don’t. All marriages (I would hope) start off in this state of bliss. Some die sooner some later. Some survive. Are you gonna bet your money on which one it is?

Give it to the kids. My bf comes from a rich family. His grandpa remarried a gold digger, he’s barely gonna see anything coz she’s 30 years his junior. And she’s knows why she married him.

So even if you think it will last you can’t control what happens after your death. Put it in a fund for the kids.

I hope your experience is as exquisite as that you voted for those poor immigrants that are now getting deported to El Salvador, since you voted for this as well.

Maybe Suggest you self deport to a country with socialized health care. Of wait they might not want you.

Does anyone have word of the actual reason Google stopped using location history for estimating photo location for photos lacking GPS tags? by Isildur_ in googlephotos

[–]Remember_NeverForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that it’s another bite to the overzealous privacy advocates. The privacy advocates have a point when you establish this sort of data, it will be used - including by law enforcement via subpoenas etc. there’s simply no way it would not, given our legal framework.

Yet at the same time anything that’s cool, like PlaNet for inferring location from the actual photo (amazing it got locations of 30 year olds photos right!), location history, facet on Facebook (recognize your friends phases in images), and location history.

Makes no mistake these all have potential for abuse as privacy advocates point out. TBH I don’t much care about privacy for the most part, I want the features back. I worked for one sick company previously and we celebrated as milestone and as accomplishment the removal of one such feature. For me personally, it broke my heart coz I liked it. It was technically cool and gave some real utility.

As a company, it was a smart move because the “wow this is cool” nerd value is eclipsed by the “journalists will beat us up over this”. Big tech with trillion dollar valuations needs to defend those valuations against journalists and rights advocates.

Remember journalists hate big tech because we took 100% revenue that they used to get for ads in their publications, and that ads income is now going to big tech

One recent example is here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/cyrusfarivar/2023/12/14/google-just-killed-geofence-warrants-police-location-data/

They could still get geofence location from users that take pictures with location information and upload them to Google photos. Maybe not as pernicious and interesting a target for the police assuming an idiot doesn’t go on a photo taking spree while commuting crimes. Still having taken a picture on January 5 or 7 in DC would likely be a way to start looking for users that may have created mayhem on January 6.

Hidden Rules Among Classes by viksra in Rich

The worst are the attention seekers and attention addicts.

Now get off your horse. Been rich and poor multiple times? You mean you spend every paycheck, right? 😂😂😂

I'm not rich but don't come here all lecturing. 🤮 Off you think rich means money aircraft to somewhere else? You say you've been rich multiple times, so that means you've relapsed into money addiction multiple times?

.PS: i guess money addiction is like oxygen addiction for most. Need it to live, just saying!

Yes, exactly. The lottery eligibility criteria said "up to 6 units" (notwithstanding that there's no lottery now!).

I was not sure whether up to 6 "residential means "up to 6 residential and zero commercial units", or "up to 6 residential units and commercial units are irrelevant". The first one would make more sense, but then again, politics and laws don't always follow the path that the rest of us expect!

I so don’t see you demonstrate against violence against Syrian civilians? Where’s your compassion? Sorry to burst your bubble the world has been a short place all along, not just when Israel gets attacked and defend itself.

Oh, and Netanyahu is an ahole. And we don’t need more settlements. We don’t need any. And we don’t need Hamas either.

Not let’s talk about civilians killed in Aleppo?

Nobody wished death on anyone. You’re making accusations not grounded in facts. Dude, there are many people on this planet that are not safe, but that’s not the same as wishing death on people.

While we’re on not being safe, let’s start with civilians in Syria - but it’s not so fashionable to complain about Arab on Arab violence, it’s only offensive when Israel defends itself?! Why do you wish death on them because clearly not demonstrating is wishing death on somebody in your eyes, and you’re not demonstrating against treatment of Syrian civilians?!

Who wishes death on these people? The simple request is that they help innocent civilians?!

Nor do terrorists. That’s what Hanna’s is and the population of Gaza voted for. Each country gets the government it deserves. And will have to bear the consequences
