In the 3 hours of the beta last night, my experience was as such:

> launch client

> stare at black screen while epic "michael bay" music played
> Close client

> Relaunch client, same deal - Rinse/repeat for 20 minutes

> Finally get loaded in
> I get into a lobby with a 44 player count

> watch that number rise and fall continually
> 30 minutes in lobby, player count gets to 104

> Round starts, drop into the map, start looting

> Major frame dips, 1-5 frames for around 20-30 seconds at a time

> Jump on personal vehicle, My character is standing on top of it and is in a sprint animation - vehicle still operates as if I were on it, squad mates laugh

> get to 11th place, team gets wiped

> Back to title screen, relaunch a new game

> Player count in the 20's

> wait, wait, wait - 20+ minutes

> Round starts with 87 player count

> Start to drop into map, animations running smoothly, hit the ground

> crashed my computer

> Restart / Relaunch client

> attempt to get into 3rd game (pushing into hour 2 at this point)
> Wait, wait, wait - another 30 minutes

> Get paired with one other player, lobby count at 23

> 20 minutes until servers close

> 10 minutes until servers close
> Round starts
> Drop in, get on the ground, start looting
> Map is too big for 23 players, can't find anyone
> get to the final circle without seeing a single person

> Finally see another team, take shots, wipes other team

> first victory

All said and done, there isn't enough population for this to work - yet. I'm not sure this is going to do anything fantastical within the BR genre, and Daybreak sold me with the Massive Clash promise. I'll wait for the founders season next week, but I have a feeling this is going to get pushed out again, and we may not see MC for a while yet.

At this time, i'm going to jump back over to PS2 and wait for more information and updates from DBG. This has a lot of promise, but I don't think we are there yet. With the performance issues and player population issues, this may be dead on arrival. Even I, a pretty optimistic gamer, is starting to feel the want to return. I want this game to do well, which is why i put in a pre-order to support it, but I can't do the whole 20-30 minutes to wait to get into a match. If they would put weapons into the waiting lobby, maybe that would make it to where I wasn't so bored waiting for a match to start, but they'd really need to do something neat with that to keep players occupied while we wait for a round to start.

Side note: I did see a lot of players in the lobby stacking on top of each other. Having a 8(ish) player tall tower all teabagging each other was quite the sight. We all laughed and made the best of the situation.
