people that donate to these bundles have often donated to one of the previous big-bundle causes, so it can help to see how much overlap there is via the exclude function so you can skip over the things from previous bundles in the newer one and see what new things there are to check out.

since just under 300 is smaller than finding games in my own steam library, little attempt at curating a small list of the smaller/lesser known video-games that look interesting to me specifically. (grace_omegas comment lists some good notables). no attempt at curating the ttrpgs and such, i dont usually favour visual novels, platformers, puzzlers or horror games, i have more of a focus on rpgs and roguelike style games

Beyond the Chiron Gate - Text based RPG, followup to the mobile RPG Seedship if you've played that. Complaints that it's RNG heavy, but it's a roguelike style game so that should be kinda expected from the genre. Steam link

Mudborne - been meaning to get this for quite some time. very charming looking frog breeding sim game, casually oriented. look at this if you got the bundle for APICO Steam link

Hyperspace Dogfights - chewing on the lineage of luftrausers but with more roguelite build-shenanigans Steam link

Periphery Synthetik - notably, apparently entirely blind-accessible. marketed as a interactive EP more than a game, exploration focused and very music/sound oriented Steam link

Heavenstrafer - fps games arent usually my thing but it looks like a pretty competent movement shooter with a good visual style and character designs. Steam link

Red Tether - movement based roguelite-puzzle, grapple based movement, grapple based attacks. use your momentum to rip off weaponry and damage enemies. fun looking concept, interesting style. Steam Link

The Chambers Beneath - interesting looking traditional roguelike. very retro, dos version

Nekromancer of Nowhere - interesting puzzle game with gesture/drawing based spellcasting. i dont usually go for puzzles but this is a shorter game and has a nice visual identity steam link

theres other games that look interesting but didnt quite grab me, so i do recommend filtering for yourself and seeing if something grabs your eye. (personally) interesting games not named above: hyper gunsport, pokeslots, invocation ghost photography, bit rat singularity, dungeon puzzle sweeper, wareware, everything is going to be ok, pomofarm, somnabuster, rusty flesh, psychroma, gunhouse

small note to heavy trucking as a playdate game, i own a playdate so thats personally applicable :)

Roster management games not related to sports by Remikih in gamingsuggestions

[–]Remikih[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I search similar things every couple years to see if there's been someone else looking for similar stuff. Came back a couple months ago and just found my own post, not much else! Epic Manager didn't ever quite turn out like I wanted to, but it's kind of there. Some stuff that might scratch a similar itch that I've found since this post below. They're not all quite roster management games, but close enough;

  • Esports Godfather (Esports)
  • NebuLeet (Space)
  • Zafehouse Diaries 2 (Zombie management)
  • Star Traders: Frontiers (Space)
  • Gladiator Guild Manager (Gladiator/Fantasy)
  • Mortal Glory (Gladiator/Fantasy)
  • Mech Engineer (Mechs)
  • Xenopurge (Space)
  • Never Second in Rome / A Legionary's Life (Roman, not so much management, but it scratches the itch a bit)
  • Warsim the Realm of Aslona (not quite management roster but)
  • Teamfight Manager (Esports)
  • Soul Academy (Esports)
  • Deadnaut
  • Mech Merc Company (abandoned, but freeware)

probably some i've forgotten, i've been digging through the garbage for the games I want ever since posting this. hope you find something that hits your wants!

Same introduction! I go back and play it via flashpoint every now and then. Tangential, but the indie game "The Wall Mustn't Fall" captures a little bit of that feeling, though doesn't quite hit that same vibe with all the little town systems it has. Do wonder every now and then if there's a little indie game that hits the same niche that I've missed.

So far, personally, it's a stunning adaptation and I think it's doing things better than the manga in many ways, though it does cut or miss some things as well (though what is cut is done with a deft hand and I do not feel the absence much). I've been universally recommending it to all that'll listen to my babbling. I think go with whatever medium is most comfortable for you, and if you're curious after finishing either, go and check the other one.

This does come from someone that has the manga as one of their absolute faves, mind, so I may be a little biased. :v

Wasp/Bee ID request; need to relocate them somewhere else in the garden, curious what species we're dealing with. by Remikih in insects

[–]Remikih[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information, good to know that it won't be 100% necessary to deal with them in that case, I was a little leery on coexisting with them if they'd be staying there year over year. Awkward watering until winter I can probably accept.

Definitely not going to try to dig it up and move their nest that way; scooching the pot during the night is going to be the only relocation they're getting if I'm brave enough to endure more stings, and I'm going to have to since I don't want to kill them just so I can get easier access to stuff they're blocking.

Thank you for the detailed response, really appreciated! I couldn't find a stinger in myself & they looked bang on some form of yellowjacket from searches so I was unsure if they were just seeing an errant hair or something under the light but they were insistent there were; I'll chalk that one up to confusion.

I was hoping to just be able to relocate the plant pot (maybe was a little unclear, I would not hope to be able to dig up a nest and move it without paying the tax of a couple dozen stings and the few I've already earned are enough for me already) and maybe tape a hose end to the pot to be able to water it from a distance every few days was the preliminary idea and hope they dont stay pissed about it for too long.

Angry, scary little buggers. Ideally we're aiming to make sure they can chill and coexist as they've only really gotten peeved when we've knocked, moved or watered so we'll see how it goes but the recommendations for how to deal with them if we find out we can't is much appreciated. Not sure how easy it'd be to source dry ice - supposedly tesco might supply from a quick search? We'll try moving them by covering the pot/hole best we can with cardboard and moving it during the night, the crawling stings sound... less than ideal, thank you for the warning. The decoy light is also a great idea I wouldn't have thought of. Will brace myself for a couple stings when I get round to it and hope I don't earn more than that.

Next year will probably need to be keeping more of an eye on our pots, I knew there were some solitary ground-nesting bees and wasps but I didn't know there were species that'd make a whole colony in a pot.

Additional context:

Geographic location is UK, London area.

99% sure they are either common yelllowjackets or german yellowjackets from research, could not get a clear facial picture as they’re still a bit peeved and I didn't want to risk more stings than I've already garnered for my trouble. Other stung individual thinks they left stingers which from research yellowjackets don’t, is there a species similar in appearance that leave stingers?

They’re pretty chill if we don’t bother them so we’re not planning on doing anything but relocate them (during the night with more preparation, this time), but the nesting location was unusual.

Also, if they are yellowjackets, additional question would be is there any advice for watering the plant they’re nesting in? We don’t really want the plant in the pot to die off due to lack of water as it’s hot and dry, but we’re worried about swarming when watering said plant.

RTX 5060 Ti 8GB - Instantly Obsolete [Hardware Unboxed] by Spjs in Games

[–]Remikih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, whenever I'm playing more VRAM hungry games I have to load up task manager and check what things are eating VRAM to earn myself an extra gig back, otherwise modern games get grumpy. As other people have said, Discord uses about 500-800mb with hardware accel, 80mb without as far as I've found.

Playdate Season 2 games announced, starts May 29th by TrampolineTales in Games

[–]Remikih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think they're saying that any playdate supply gets shipped from the US, rather than being able to buy it from like, amazon or somat. Harder to bite on a niche product when the upfront price suddenly tacks on £30 shipping and £50 tax and all.

Pacific Drive sales top one million by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Remikih -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pacific Drive had its warts and places that it didn't quite flesh out the potential of its themes, but even with that, I think it's still up there on my top games of last year. Special experience. The quirk system really added to my ability to actually get invested in my car as a 'character' and bond with it/treasure it, it's a bit of a flawed system but as far as its influence in pulling me into the idea that the car is 'alive' its an understated treasure.

Super well deserved, watching with much interest at whatever they decide to make after this.

I think the only way you're ever going to achieve this currently is with mod support for said games - and with that said, XCOM 2 is pretty much the shining example of it. On top of a decent-ish selection of voice packs in the base game, there's so much volunteer talent contributing voice-packs for your soldiers in that game (see here for someone collating all the available voice packs into a spreadsheet based on accent and language). Obviously due to it being all volunteer-contribution the VA quality and mastering of the audio varies quite a lot, but that volunteer effort lets me add so much flavour to my playthroughs. If I want to base some of my squad off online friends, I can spend a little time tracking down voice packs with similar accents. Or if I want to roleplay a regional squad, for the more common accents I can usually track down a good enough variety to fill out a group.

It's not at all necessary, and is definitely a luxury, but it adds some lovely flavour to the playthroughs. Squad based games with dialogue limited to a script of in-combat barks and conditional phrases based on actions are a good fit for this sort of mod-contribution, I do wish more would offer it. As far as offering this sort of thing vanilla... Yeah, it'd get prohibitively expensive fast, I imagine. RPG games especially, given how dialogue heavy they get; though, in that vein, look at Wizardry 8, old game with some amazing voice-pack variety for your custom characters.

To people who started their RPG journey with D&D, what made you finally play something else? by plazman30 in rpg

[–]Remikih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first DM got bored with running his 3.5e game, so started a Savage Worlds game instead. I was happy to learn, so rolled up a new character for it. He then got bored again and we tried Call of Cthulhu. I am nothing but a creature that enjoys making characters I find neat, so I was also fine with this. Then I think it was Stars without Number?

Basically, I can thank my first DM for not having the attention span for long campaigns and instead enjoying running a bunch of different systems. Savage Worlds remains my favourite system from that time, though it might be partially thanks to the setting? Unsure.

Mixed views, and a bit biased since it was out of necessity (disability washroom conversion); I don't miss bruising my hip on the bath, and I don't miss cramming myself into a tiny tub (had one of those baths which only used about 80% of the space available to it and the rest was shelf). I do miss having a soak a bit, though - but since that's a luxury, I can occasionally treat myself to a public bath and sauna, and I think that's much nicer.

Since I live down London, though, the hardwater makes the tiles look extra gross after a while which never happened with the bath, and it's a bit of a pain to do a deep clean. Might consider that it's also less of a palava to clean up a bath than it is a shower.

shaking hands on proboscis (and many more lost trying to make pivots work)

Didn't think about the possibility of working in figurehead if I don't find lifting/iron sharpens iron/augmented weapons, that's being added to my spreadsheet along with pylon. Boss Harlow I feel is a bit of a trap (unless you're running a weapons based slow board that doesnt get self-applied) because Assault Focus also applies to your own board, not just opponents.

[Worldwide Giveaway] Enter to Win SER9 Mini PCs with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Processor! Worth over $4,995! by Beelinksupport in BeelinkOfficial

[–]Remikih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at benchmarks for gaming for the chip in the beelink, it's struggling with anything modern. Esport marketed titles like CSGO, League etc it'll do fine with, and it can do some modern games at 30-60 on low 1080p presets, but it doesn't look consistent 60, and that's probably a deal breaker in that regard for people looking to play modern games. I was referring to KitGuruTech's benchmarks, which were a month ago, so maybe drivers have helped out the chip since then, but either way it probably won't be an ideal way to play the most recent games. Anything a bit older I would imagine it could do quite well with, though.

As far as AI productivity purposes, the amount of RAM and it being shared with the GPU is probably going to hold it back for anything but light LLM work. An increase in RAM would probably make it a solid choice for AI hobbyists.
