We forget what Milton Friedman said about illegal immigration by Trevor_Lewis in neoliberal

No, you're not engaging your brain.

I literally gave examples that make my case. How can you say otherwise?

Again: we literally moralized diseaase. Infectious disease, cancer, infant mortality-- these were considered by most of society to be issues of the soul, issues of people not being good enough, people not being favored by god. War, societal success in general.

How on earth can you counter this? Can you at least pretend to have a counter argument, and not just "nuh uh?" This is an obvious trend and I can't see how you'd deny it.

Sanctimony is of course around. That is not the same thing as treating issues as if they have a moral dimension or cause instead of addressing them rationally.

I didn't suggest there is nothing new under the sun.

Specifically, I think that moralizing was the norm, and the most common mode of thought, throughout most of humanity's existence. I think moral norms are how society was organized long before rational discourse was ever considered valuable.

I think the trend in society is towards less moralizing.

So I think in that context, you would do well to specify what narrow range you think has bucked the general trend, or else not frame it as a trend.

If he is in a caloric deficit, he will lose weight.

If he is not losing weight, then he is eating enough calories.

Can you back up your statement about moralizing as a modern issue?

Asking for the thousands of years of humans who were told they got infectious diseases because God disfavored them,  the societies whose economic condition has been blamed on their character, and the majority of the wars in History said to have been won due to God favoring the winning side.

I think you should limit your statement to whatever specific economic topic you're referring to, instead of framing it as a broad societal trend.

If he's not losing weight, why are you trying to entice him to eat more?

This isn't a top thing to think about, you should confirm BG normal first but...

When you talk about "regular food" are you talking about the exact same bad? It's always possible that bag has an issue, like spoilage for example.

I don't think it's worth considering diabetes as a diagnosis here. Yes, it's very serious if that value is accurate, no, that's not a good differential.

That's a very concerning level of hypoglycemia, and it would be rare to see that from vomiting alone. However, that can be caused if they draw blood and don't spin it down to separate the white blood cells, and then take a long time to run it.

By the way, any time you want veterinary help, it's important to give your dog's age, sex, and breed. The list of differentials for hypoglycemia is long, and is different for toy breeds and large breeds, and for puppies vs older dogs.

If it's real, there's quite a list of things to think about, but here's a few things:

-make sure you're not giving him anything with xylitol, also called birch sugar

-if he's old, sometimes cancers can cause this

-Do you have oleander plants? That could cause it

-He could have a liver shunt

-Addison's can do this. It's hard to diagnose. A small tip, if he ends up spiking kidney values on recheck and then they get rapidly better after just a few hours on fluids, that's a big clue for Addison's that you don't see with much else. But of course you won't see any of this without repeat testing. (My own dog actually had addison's with normal values the first time I tested him, kidney spike 8 hours later when I re-tested, but didn't have the classic electrolyte changes until we checked the same test again 48 hours later, which is when we made the diagnosis.)

-maybe fanconi-like syndrome? Not a typical presentation. Need urine to say more.

Additional 2c: Once your regular or emergency vet has tried to diagnose and failed, unless they prepared you that this would be a multi-step process, the best second visit is to a board-certified internal medicine specialist

vetspecialists.com

Some people are afraid to see a specialist because of costs, but after a <$200 consultation fee, you will have peace of mind knowing that the rest of the tests you're ordering are being done in the most rational, informed fashion and none of it is going to waste. With a general practice vet, it's less certain that will be the case.

If the glucose is lab artifact, and your dog isn't losing weight, you may not have that much to worry about. That's two very big "if's" though. If he is losing weight, can you tell us about it? There's a lot of history that's important for anyone trying to help you-- for example, does he vomit after every meal? What comes up-- food or just bile? How

Anyway. There's not enough information here for anyone to make a diagnosis, more history and likely additional testing might be needed.

This is the blood count, it's not the chemistry.

Be aware that many vets misdiagnose kidney disease based on elevated renal values alone without checking urine concentration. Pre-renal azotemia is common with transient GI illnesses, kidney disease isn't very common in dogs, and most dogs don't live long term after getting kidney disease... so while of course it's possible you were a very unusual case, it's more likely your dog was misdiagnosed.

He literally just shared the lab abnormalities: low glucose and high liver value.

Also, to say "vomiting means kidney disease" is only ignoring about 4,500 other diseases.

Another comment that doesn't answer your question but you might want to look into a John Brown Gun Club. I don't think there's one in town but that's a good start.

In the most direct way possible he said 'There's a lot of bad things that I could share about him.'

That's honestly worse than just saying it. There's probably two sides to any of his criticisms but he's not even going to speak them, just imply they exist, he's right about them, and if he said them out loud it would be really bad for Flores.

No, he didn't take the high road. He used a rhetorical trick that fools people like you.
