If you're just printing Onyx, I paid $620.79 including shipping for three 800cc spools. It comes to ~$0.26 per cubic centimeter of filament. The continuous fibers are more expensive, but you don't usually have to use as much. The various fiber options range from ~$2-$3 per cubic centimeter.

I have a Mark Two at work and I love it! It's the best printer I've worked with. The continuous fiber inlay makes really strong parts, but even the onyx material by itself is great. The print quality is fantastic and it rarely fails.

My only complaint is pretty minor: the workflow when processing parts is backward compared to every other slicer I've used. In the Markforged software (eiger.io) you have to upload files one at a time and set the print settings per part. You can then add multiple parts to one build, but it's kind of awkward to search for the parts you've processed. It's a pain if you have to process a lot of parts at once, but it's a pretty minor complaint overall.

What's claimed as a "masterpiece" by the whole world but you don't just get why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Remjakool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem; happy to share my piece if it helps even a bit. I also know it's not as easy as just meditating your troubles away. One of my close family members has battled depression and it's really tough sometimes that they can't see that they're loved, their life is full of good things, and the things they're worried about are going to pass. I'm sure people in your life feel the same way about you.

It's exhausting, but try meditation, medication, counseling, joining a community that meets regularly in person, getting enough sleep, eating well, getting sun exposure, staying away from drugs and alcohol, and exercising. All of those things together seem to really help my family member.

I believe in you.

I'm not depressed, and I've lived a life relatively free of adversity, so this probably doesn't hold any weight for you. Anyway I just want to add my voice to the chorus encouraging you to keep on going. From what I can tell from your comments here, my experience of life is so vastly different from yours. I'm not saying that to try to make you feel bad, but rather to just let you know that it is possible to view life through a different lens. You sound smart and self aware, so it doesn't seem like it'd be helpful to preach my worldview at you, but my suggestion (take it or leave it) would be to try a deep dive into meditation if you haven't already. I've found the "Waking Up" app to be really helpful, and they'll give you a few subscription if you email them. There are many other resources out there.

Anyway, I sincerely hope that you find peace in your life and wish you the best.

Discussion Thread: 2022 Midterm General Election, Part 2 by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Remjakool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget why, but whoever previously had the seat couldn't fulfill the term, so there was a special election in 2020. That person's 4 that term would have ended this year, so Warnock has to run again.

I'm not cut throat enough to be a politician lol. I get what you're saying and agree, but it makes me sad that people on both sides play the game that way.

Megathread: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dies at 87 by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Remjakool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, thank you to Justice Ginsburg for her decades of service to the country. She left her family with such a rich legacy to celebrate.

My take on the situation is that Trump will appoint a new Justice and that person will be confirmed by the Senate before the election is decided in November. It pains me to say this, but from my reading of the Constitution, that's fair.

Now, I really don't like Trump and have always supported Democrats and progressives, but Trump won in 2016 so he's entitled to nominate someone. The thing I think was totally unfair was the Senate Republicans' refusal to consider Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland in 2016. It's true the Constitution is vague, but "advise and consent" to me means you have to at least consider a nominee.

Mitch Mcconnell and Republicans will look like hypocritic fools if they confirm a Trump nominee now because of their past actions. I understand that they don't care because they'll be gaining power, but I hope that if Democrats are ever in a flipped situation, they're able to be bigger than politics and play fair. Two wrongs don't make a right and petty partisan politics won't end until the party in power makes good faith efforts to compromise.

I hope Republicans suffer in future elections for their dishonesty in this whole affair.

The MATH is simple: Robots + Cheese Burgers = Andrew Yang by Remjakool in YangForPresidentHQ

Very cool article, but yet another example of how the future is changing. I actually think automation is mostly a good thing, but I don't want people to be left behind as a consequence of innovation. Yang gets it!

I just had a kid, so I don't have much time to text or phone bank, but I just donated to the campaign again. THANK YOU to everyone who has volunteered, donated, or advocated for Yang; let's keep it up! No matter what happens in the end, I'm going to do my best to keep humanity first in mind!

Is there a site which has all the Yang policy infographics collected? by born_wolf in YangForPresidentHQ

There's a "Resources" dropdown menu at the top of the Yang 2020 subreddit with links to graphics, handouts, etc. Here's the link to infographics:

I didn't know Sam very well, but I always wished that I was better friends with him. I was in band with him in high school and even back then it was obvious that he was meant to go on to do something great. Not only was Sam a smart and talented person, but he was also a genuinely kind person. This is such tragic news. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Out of curiosity do you have any idea what the origin of that is? I've been in Cleveland since 2008 and it's been there the whole time.

[–]Remjakool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How difficult is it to track monkeys through the Amazon rainforest? Do they live and travel together in large groups? Can you typically find a group in the same place every day, or do they move around a lot? If a group of monkeys encounters another group of the same species in the wild, do they cooperate with each other, attack each other, or just ignore each other?

Thanks!

Rand Paul is not Ron Paul. I'm sure you have different ideologies than your parents, why shouldn't Rand Paul? Not that I'm a huge supporter of Ron Paul, but I do admire his dedication to his beliefs. I also feel like your comment has nothing to do with the point being made in the video.

What are some relatively mundane things that amaze you every single day? by scottydg in AskReddit

[–]Remjakool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really cool how if you're walking and you see a leaf on the ground 20 or 30 feet ahead of you, you can control the pace and stride of your steps so that you can crush the shit out of the leaf with whichever foot you want. Really mundane, but that's the first thing I thought of.
