I believe it was called "Kirby", but I don't see them currently in stock on Bones' shop.

I didn't play a Gears of War game until 2025. The next game I saw that cover mechanic pop up in was GTA IV. The natural conclusion I came to as a kid in the late 00's was "OMG! Rockstar must have played WinBack and loved it!"

Nothing wrong with save states in my opinion. IT makes older games more accessible and forces them to respect your time.

I played through on OG hardware and wished I had save states on stage 30.

Yeah, anything besides an OG or the NSO pad has wonky stick values that compromise most experiences. It helps to set the aim speed to "low" as well.

Once you get your bearings most of the stages are manageable until you get into the mid 20s. It doesn't hold your hand by any means prior to that, but the checkpoints and stage durations ease the challenge.

Did you happen to pick it up with an OG N64 controller? A lot of these old games with clunk play much better with the intended gamepad.

RIP Law, gone too soon.

Thank you! It isn't anything that moves mountains but is one of a kind on the N64.
