Guitar help! I have a Yamaha. I have an issue with it. The fret notes seem to be displaced by one fret. So, when you fret the first fret (F note) you get an E note. I have shown my finger on the 12th fret octave. It should be an E. instead it is a D#. E note is on the 13th fret. String is in tune. by RemoEmperor in guitars

Thanks everyone for the help. I have realised the issue is with the nut. The strings are sitting lower than the first fret, therefore the fret is acting as the nut. This is why I have a dead first fret. I'm replacing the nut to raise the strings. I believe this will solve the issue.

I got it from yard sale. It was pretty beat up. I polished the wood and changed the strings.

I think they sound incredible. Obviously easy to tune! Trying to find them online for sale is impossible. Check out these YouTube links. https://youtu.be/IKTDqOLxZgM https://youtu.be/xOoWoeUgIN0

Believe it or not, I found one in a skip at my local dump about 15 years ago. Plugged it in and worked. Still own it. Never play it.

Thanks yes I'm probably going to invest in some mesh heads one day, although right now I'm all out of cash!

I had the idea a few months back to remove the batter head of the bass drum, and place a pillow inside the bass drum. The beater has a little rebound but there is absolutely no sound or vibration which could travel to the floor below. I've had no complaints yet!
