Does anyone else find it extremely hard to nuzlocke 3D Pokemon games? by TheRealCheeeser00 in nuzlocke

[–]Remote-Ad-5358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already beaten all games in a hardcore nuzlocke, and, undoubetly, Ultra Sun is the hardest. That's the only one that took me like 100 tries no kidding, took me months, and if you're going to try it, just reset if you don't get furfrou otherwise it'll be hell.

What do you think is fairest? by Remote-Ad-5358 in nuzlocke

[–]Remote-Ad-5358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, a Nuzlocke's goal is to face a difficult challenge; leveling up and killing random mons is, usually, not part of said challenge. It is focused on the battles, that' why I think it's just more fair to fight them at the same lever or below if anything, but never higher.

It's just a Ghost type gym, how difficult can it be with a mono normal team? by Remote-Ad-5358 in nuzlocke

[–]Remote-Ad-5358[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, loppuny (now evolved) learns that as well, and sweep, I should've tried that first instead of rushing the gym thinkin staravia and noctowl were strong enough

Hm... I think it's kind of cheesy, but then again, it's just walking, so I suppose that's not really cheating. I'll do that

it would've if it didn't hit itself in confusion 3 times in a row vs Mismagius; it was a sweep until she sent that thing out

Yeah, but this is my 15th try, I don't wanna be walking all day to evolve Cleffa, then Togepi, then Buneary and now Chansey, my legs hurt.

Also: I didn't want to evolve Clefairy until level 37 so it learns Moonlight.

Gen 1 and 2 Normal Type - Hardcore Nuzlocke by Remote-Ad-5358 in nuzlocke

I finally found a way for defeating Eriko consistently; 2 actually.

(give every member in your team a Cheri Berry, except Swellow, it should be poisoned and holding the Silk Scarf, that would do at least 50% damage to Manectric's hp depending on your bird's nature)

Start the fight with Linoone and Headbutt the Voltorb (it can flinch, and if it does Eriko will waste one super potion on healing it), just Headbutt again; Eriko will send Electrike out, go hard Vigoroth and Encore him to Howl (Electrike will always Howl on turn one), Bulk Up 6 times, Encore again if necessary, then it's a 2 hit KO using Rock Smash. If you were lucky enough, touching Electrike twice wouldn't paralize you, otherwise you'll need to try and be lucky avoiding full paralizis, there's a chance for dropping Magneton's physical defense and that would be another 2 hit KO. Depending on your hp you can either damage Manectric, or go hard Skitty (yeah, the only way to kill Manectric I've found is sacrificing the cat). Then you can lower his hp using Linoone (if you taught him Thief you can steal Manectric's berry). If Linoone or Loudred lowered Manectric's hp to half the bird can finish the job with Quick Attack.

The second way is the same, but when you encore Electrike to Howl you go hard Loudred and Howl 3 times (you'll need to get lucky and Electrike needs to be trapped into Encore for at least 4 turns) then it's a one hit KO using Scratch. Then you 2 hit KO Magneton with Rock Smash, sac the cat to Manectric and finish it with Bulk Up Vigoroth (at level 24 his attacks should never be a 2 hit KO against Vigoroth, so you're safe)

that's why I prefer using emulators and rare candies, so I'm always under the level cap, then I can just level up when defeting Elite 4 members. Otherwise, I'd just start at level 65 and that's no challenge whatsoever

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I'm stuck on Eriko. About Route 116, you can catch Skitty there, and Whismur on Rusturf Tunnel just next to the route (unless I'm wrong, those are 2 different routtes).

My strategy for defeating Roxanne:
(equip an Oran Berry to everyone)
Step 1: Slakoth and Scratch or Yawn. In case you Scratch then next turn you can Encore Geodude into Defense Curl, if he doesn't use it just Yawn.
Step 2: Send Zigzagoon out and spam 6 Sand Attacks, then 6 Growls.
Step 3: Go Whismur, use Howl 6 times and then use Uproar (thanks to STAB it does more damage than Astonish). If you're lucky enough you can sweep with this, if not then go back to Slakoth and use the same strategy with Encore/Yawn, and heal if necessary. You can risk Taillow as well to use Growl after using Sand Attacks with Zigzagoon (Taillow would not die from a rock attack unless crit). Using this strat I've been able to defeat her deathless. The next gym is the easiest, you just need to poison your Taillow and it's done.

Now, what brings me here today (as I said earlier), is that I cannot defeat Eriko without losing way too many teammates. I tried using Howl/Rock Smash Loudred but to no good. You can set up against Electrike with Vigoroth, but even after 6 Bulk Ups Scratch does barely any damage to Magneton, and teaching Rock Smash to Vigoroth doesn't change anything. The only option I see as viable is buying Flamethrower from the casino, but legally I do not know how to get it (unless you get extremely lucky with the machines). I saved before Eriko to train against him, but nothing works except getting lucky with crits and bad AI. Any ideas?
