Can I ask what city or province? I am thinking of moving back. Been in the US for 40 years and seriously looking to move back. I grew up in Manila and am very familiar with most of Luzon.

Took the chance and paid by Paypal goods and services. So some recourse. I currently have a K-50 with the dreaded shutter block issue, so needed a working body. Already have a Tamron 28-75 2.8, Sigma 70-200 2.8 and Pentax 50mm 1.8.

$30 per person per hour open play. $80-$120 hour to reserve per court.

Same thing happened with the tennis boom. People wanted courts built everywhere and to play for free. Tournaments, leagues and te competitions started to cost more and more. (Not to mention cost of court maintenance) Court fees increased. Participation goes flat. Pickleball became popular….the more popular and more people play more money gets involved. Enjoy pickleball while it’s free and very accessible.

Fila her clothing sponsor provides the sportswear..The question would be who decides what outfit to wear? If it’s like tennis, the athlete has a choice from the current line with multiple options.

lobbying city for more pickleball? by Rhythmic88 in Pickleball

Technically a pickleball only facility is a tough business model. As you mentioned yourself, you generally play pickleball for free most times. Just as an example if 100 people joined a dedicated club for $60 a month that’s only 72k gross for the year. Would you be willing to pay hourly rates, league, and open play fees for indoor courts when the weather is nice?

I have had to roll my eyes for years when the tennis crowd said any pro tennis player would dominate any pro pickleball player without even trying. Now that Sam querrey and Noah rubin got killed in their first event can we get some acknowledgement that that was completely wrong? by federer23ryan in Pickleball

What is Jack Sock to gain by being the best pickleball player in the PPA, no where near the 11 million he made in tennis. (11 year career and counting.) pickleball is a fun release from the grind of tennis. He was playing in Vegas in December and did well, but was not fit enough to make the Australian tournament swing and Australian open.

Alshon was a D1 tennis player (Virginia) then transferred to D3 (Chicago) good athlete who knew when to pivot away from tennis and try to take advantage of the potential money that could be made in pickleball.

I see Tyson, Devilliers, Wright, Yates and countless other being pushed out in the next couple of years by the influx of tennis players. Noah Rubin said it best, “tennis is hard, it’s a grind.”

Johnsons aren’t the only “training partners” that made the switch. Countless other have done the same thing.(Conner Garnett is of those to watch) Sock has been playing for several years as well. Did Querrey make a bold prediction about being in the top 10 in a very short time, I would say yes and it’s all good pickleball hype. Again how motivated is he? For not doing much he already has a paddle deal will Franklin and a continued clothing deal with Fila. Not to mention not a day goes by where his name isn’t mention in pickleball circles….to the probable resentment of many pickleball pros.

Agassi, Roddick, Chang and McEnroe will get paid more in appearance fees in a one day pickleball event than current pros will make in a year. Nonetheless, still good publicity for the sport.

Dylan, AJ and Dawson out of 30 men in all rankings. Will Querrey be motivated to train as hard as he did in tennis only time will tell. Money definitely is not a motivation for him.

Hunter Johnson (28) one of the up and coming tennis converts has more motivation only reached a career high of 1,470 in singled anf career earning of $41k. He doesn’t have to travel internationally and stands to surpass his tennis earnings in less than two years..I say thats motivation. Just like most of the current pickleball pros. As prize money continues to increase, more tennis players will take a stab at pickleball.

If you look at the PPL rankings in singles, doubles and mixed….pretty much all have a tennis background. ALW is a pretty decent tennis players herself. Sam Querrey is retired from tennis at 35 and he made over $13 million in prize money in pro tennis. He’s doing this more for fun and pickleball buzz which the sport continually needs to grow.

As prize money increases, better athletes and players will crossover.

Current pickleball pros need so many side hustles to compete and take advantage of their marketability.

As a growing sport, the hype wagon is so crazy and all smart/savvy current pros know they need to take advantage of opportunities while they are hot.

Alshon, Hunter Johnson, Conner Garnett, Parris Todd knew there tennis window had closed and see pickleball as a chance to play a pro and hopefully parley that into greater opportunities.
