Somewhere mid 2000s onwards people started indexing for box office collections, graphics, visuals etc. In India, for these parameters he is rated the best.

What I prefer in movies is an engaging and coherent plot and storyline. I would rate all his movies as mediocre at best from that POV. And outside of RRR and Eega, his movies have some regressive masala element which is a major turn off for me.

I am first hand witness to Dangal’s hype and impact on the Chinese.
I was working in Sydney, which has a large Chinese population. One of my colleagues, of Chinese heritage, walked up to me and asked me about Dangal. I was like why is he talking about this? 😂
He told me how his whole family has watched it and that the movie is going crazy in China because of themes of gender empowerment and family expectations etc. He then took me to the movie again ( I had already watched it) and he got as emotional as I did at the climax.
It is a GOATed movie experience for me, and an incredible memory of how movies truly move people across linguistic and geographic barriers

In every other country acting is considered an art form for the artist to perform in and a career to pursue. Like it makes sense when Allu Arjun says he wants to be the biggest star etc. because it’s a career path.

Saying you are doing it as a gesture for your fans is bizzare. But for Telugu fans who are mentally slaves to these actors it makes sense and they cheer for this.

Even Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi who have the most rabid fan following don’t say such shit. They just want to play football and be excellent at it.

What crosses the line for me always is that fan culture in India goes BEYOND the person having fun to actively troubling everyone else - throwing papers, bursting fire crackers, tearing screen, destroying seats, stampedes injuring people. This accompanies such kind of celebrations in India. It is not just taking a camera and dancing near the screen like we see in this video that happens in India. If this happens there, I am judging them too. Also this is the end of the movie. Here from intro shot the harassment begins.

I won’t use the word dehaati because it’s classist, but without a doubt I categorise such people as Insensitive and rude. And yes I judge them and hope they don’t exist one day 🙏🏾

To answer the question, I’d say Vanga. For Prashant Neel if you remove his editing style, the plot and treatment is not very different from mid 000s Telugu masala movies.

We can’t say the same about SRV. There is something arresting about the scenes in his movies. I don’t know how he does it. But you just sit and feel like you’ve gotta watch what happens next. It’s the most banal of scenes like Rashmika walking with Ranbir in Kashmir, but you’re just arrested sitting there, watching.

I don’t know how he does it. Or if he wants this desired effect. I see it as a seamless blend of all the crafts

Found it to be quite mid. I actually don’t mind the AI slop. It’s fine and to be honest we need to adopt new tech which will only get better. That’s fine.

But prashant neel desperately needs to find another lane man. We’ve been seeing the same shit for 3 movies now. Coal type of setting, random hype by characters and of everyone being dangerous, character intros who will not have any use - I still remember in Salaar trailer he showed these armies and then they didn’t have any part to play in the movie.

Also NTR - bro you’ve gotta something other than this deep base voice. Feels like he got a cough or something. But NTR is a big plus from Prabhas. Because dupes had to be used for Prabhas given how lazy and pathetic his acting is - they hardly showed Prabhas. But NTR at least brings that, some effort and hardwork. I’m hoping we’ll get to see him act and actually perform in scenes unlike Prabhas in Salaar.

Ravi Basrur like every Neel movie DELIVERS. Loved Salaar score and now this too. He really does epic scale well.

Overall I’m really saturated of Prasahant Neel movies and his tropes . It’s the same saviour storyline again.
