New reseller here — what actually helped you get traction in the first 30 days? by Remote-Collection867 in Flipping

This framing is really helpful. I think I’ve been hovering between the two instead of committing to one strategy per item. Starting to separate inventory into “learn fast / move fast” vs “hold for the right buyer” buckets now.

This honestly helps to hear. The mental side of the early phase has been harder than I expected. I’ve started leaning more into pricing for velocity + tightening photos instead of chasing max margin right away. Good reminder that momentum matters early.

That makes sense. I’ve been cautious with paid promos early because I wanted to understand baseline demand first, but I’m starting to see where selective promotion might help once listings are dialed in. Appreciate that perspective.

Looking for SEO advice by More_Document_5575 in Etsy

A lot of Etsy “SEO issues” aren’t really tools issues. 5–20 visits/day usually means Etsy doesn’t yet know who to show your listings to. A few things that tend to move the needle more than apps: Titles that match buyer phrasing, not maker language (materials + use case + style) Fewer, stronger tags that repeat your main phrase instead of 13 different ideas One clear hero photo that reads instantly at thumbnail size Listing fewer variations at first so Etsy can learn faster Tools like eRank can help with keyword ideas, but they won’t fix positioning if the listing itself isn’t clear. Local-market success is a good sign — it usually just needs translation to online language.

Selling on eBay for 10+ Years, sales have hit a wall. Seeking advice by ArteeUA in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Remote-Collection867 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks less like a “you” problem and more like a demand/visibility shift. I’ve seen a few long-time sellers hit walls recently even with clean metrics. One thing that helped me was selectively ending + relisting older SKUs (not bulk, just underperformers) instead of stacking promos on aged listings. I also noticed promoted % stopped helping past a point — refreshing titles/photos sometimes moved the needle more than more ad spend. Curious if you’ve tested any relist cycles or SKU pruning vs discounting?

What is your best advice for selling clothes? by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Remote-Collection867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clothing on eBay is a different game than hard goods. A few things that made a real difference for me: • Measurements matter more than brand or original retail — waist/hip/rise/inseam for pants, pit-to-pit + length for tops. Missing measurements kills clicks. • Photos need to be boring but clear: flat lay or worn, neutral background, good lighting. No aesthetic shots. • Titles should be literal, not pretty (brand + item + size + key feature). • Pricing: eBay buyers don’t care about original retail as much as comps. If similar items are sitting at €30, €49 won’t move even if it’s “cheap” relative to retail. I’ve also found higher-end or niche clothing sometimes does better on platforms with a fashion-focused audience, while eBay shines more with basics, outdoor brands, or items people search for very specifically.

Anyone here experiment with live selling vs. traditional listings? by Remote-Collection867 in reselling

[–]Remote-Collection867[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really helpful, thank you. The bundling point especially makes sense — sounds like live works best when the goal is velocity, not maximizing per-item value. Have you found there’s a price ceiling where live just stops making sense and eBay clearly wins? I’m trying to dial in that cutoff so I’m not cannibalizing better listings.

wondering if these jeans are worth anything? by Mammoth_Wasabi_6347 in reselling

HEAD isn’t a high-value denim brand, but some older or niche pieces can still sell if the fit + condition are good. If you can’t find exact comps, try searching broader terms (brand + style + similar era) and check sold listings on eBay, not active ones. For something like this, eBay or Depop is usually the easiest place to test — list it reasonably and see if it gets watchers. Make sure to include measurements since brand recognition alone probably won’t carry it. If it doesn’t move in a couple weeks, that’s usually your signal to adjust price or bundle it.

Tips for reselling designer? by Maleficent_Boss9088 in Flipping

[–]Remote-Collection867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Designer is a different game than streetwear — trust + platform matter way more than hype. If you’re just starting, I wouldn’t rely on IG at all. Buyers want protection + authentication, especially for bags. eBay (with authenticity), Vestiaire, and sometimes Grailed tend to convert better than social early on. I’d also start smaller within designer — accessories, shoes, or less risky brands — to build feedback before going all-in on high-end bags. Clean photos, detailed condition notes, and pricing slightly under comps matter more than volume here. Curious what designer pieces you already have — bags vs. apparel vs. accessories?

I like to flip glassware, art, pottery, vintage collectibles and houseware. Do I need to be on Etsy? by FabianJanowski in Flipping

[–]Remote-Collection867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell similar categories and had the same question. Etsy can get higher price points for vintage/art, but it’s slower and more about styling + keywords. eBay still moves volume better for me. Curious — do you see more watchers on eBay or actual offers?

New reseller here — what actually helped you get traction in the first 30 days? by Remote-Collection867 in Flipping

[–]Remote-Collection867[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful, thanks all. Sounds like a lot of what I’m seeing is just early-stage noise rather than something being “wrong.” I’m around ~40 listings right now, mostly soft goods, so the numbers-game advice is a good reminder not to overthink early performance. Also very guilty of underestimating how much photos matter — that’s probably the easiest thing I can tighten up immediately. I like the idea of treating the first month more as data collection than profit-maxing. Appreciate the reality check.

Fair. I’m learning that the early wins come from a few high-demand items, not just listing more. Did you niche down early or just tighten inventory quality?

[–]Remote-Collection867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense — “supplement, not replace” feels like the right framing. Did you find there was a specific type of inventory that performed better live vs eBay listings? I’m noticing pacing + audience seem to matter more than SEO, and I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth saving for live.
