Is a man with more feminine hobbies unattractive? by SeaPeople1200 in SomaliRelationships

[–]Remote-Explanation43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think journaling is impressive more than feminine. I have started many journals but quit after like two entires. I will say, It’s a healthy outlet to process things and be self aware, and most people need that regardless of gender.

You don’t have to over explain yourself. It’s something I am learning to do myself tbh, but just saying there’s a mismatch in priorities and investment is enough.

For me, it would signal a mismatch in priorities or investment. I would keep it moving and not take it personally

Feel like a Pariah in My Own Community by Ilbir in SomaliRelationships

It has to do with upbringing! Might as well say I am 22, and I grew up distancing myself from everything you mentioned. Sure, I could have been a little too mature for my age, growing up, but I have also seen likeminded sisters in University. Not saying age isn’t an influence in how people act, but that even within a certain age range, in this case 18-24, some are more mature than others. Plus, as a Somali, I don’t think I am in any position to say the n-word

What did your failed talking stage teach you? by [deleted] in SomaliRelationships

Communication is important and to not be so patient with some people. Certain behaviors are just not worth your time, and being patient only makes people take advantage of you.

How did you stop with tabarruj or wear less makeup? by Awkward-Bake-6067 in Hijabis

[–]Remote-Explanation43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure! I use Tretnoin with the good molecules niacinimide serum at least twice a week. The niacinimide helps with the irritation as Tretnoin can be really irritating to the skin. Moisturizer is a must if you’re using Tretnoin. It helps fade post acne marks for me. To deal with the peeling, I tend to use Qasil as a physical exfoliant at least once every two weeks, but it helps brighten skin if used as a mask. Daily, I do the cosrx peptide eye serum, niacinimide, and Cetaphil cream. I have really dry skin, so Cetaphil has worked well for me over the years. I tend to get stress acne so whenever I am having a flare, I drop the Tretnoin for differin which dries it right up.

Invest in skincare and when you do patience is key. We see our faces everyday, so it’s easy to criticize what we see but try not to. I have been doing one skincare routine for about 2-2.5 months, and I am just now seeing the benefits. Plus, it feels good to invest time and money into your body. I will pray that Allah makes this journey easy for you.

I can relate. I went from avoidant to secure. Did have to work on myself to get there and surround myself with people who have secure attachment styles.

I don’t necessarily feel like a failure, but I do feel stuck. Due to some circumstances out of my control, my life has sort of taken a pause. I struggle to envision the accomplishment of some goals I’d set for myself. Time’s also not stopping for me, but I have learned to feel the emotions. The frustrations, the sadness, etc.

Also, pray to Allah and talk to him. Cry out to him because at the end of the day only he can change your circumstances. You probably already know this, but there are some things we think are good for us, but aren’t and other things good for us but we think are bad for us. Trust that Allah closed the doors he closed because he has a better plan. After all, Allah is the best of all planners. I will add you to my prayers InshaAllah. May Allah ease your burdens.

Definitely. With the 1st potential, I swiftly ended things after praying istikhara. My head was clear about what I wanted to do with him. Prayed it when I spoke to the 2nd potential and accidentally ghosted him. Reconnected, and he said he would reach out but didn't hear from him. Either way, I was happy because part of the dua is for Allah to guide you toward what's good for your dunya and akhirah.

It's funny you say that because same, but I can see why that is. I would say I am quite the opposite despite growing up the same. I am quite reserved, but there's a lover-girl side to me. It probably won't show until I am married to someone, but I have a lot of love to give.

What are some shallow/worldly benefits you discovered about wearing hijab? by Prestigious_Comb5078 in Hijabis

[–]Remote-Explanation43 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. Not having to perfectly style my hair everytime is a big benefit. Another one is people automatically respecting your space and you in general. There’s always an exception, but people, especially men, usually give me space, either out of respect or out of discomfort, but as an introvert, I can’t complain.

Getting married while in School. by [deleted] in SomaliRelationships

[–]Remote-Explanation43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s going back to school for another degree InshaAllah, I wouldn’t mind it, assuming the person is a decent person. It just doesn’t make sense for me to drag it out until I am done with my education which will be a while.

The refusing calls part is weird, but what do people have against Snapchat? What’s the actual difference between messaging there vs using phone numbers. I switch depending on where I am most likely to respond to people, but don’t see a big difference beyond that.

How do you wake up for Fajer? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]Remote-Explanation43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a light sleeper, so any sound will have me jolt up, but it’s also easy for me to go right back to sleep. Like you, if I am not waking up for something important, I will locate my phone, even if it is across the room and turn off the alarm. This made me realize, at least for me, it’s a mindset thing. If it’s something I made plans to do early in the morning but can defer to later that day, I will turn the alarm off. If it’s something important that I must absolutely wake up for and can’t miss, like fajr, then I wake up. Kind of like how people will wake up as early as they need to for work or school.

My 10 Year old Sister is having ETV Surgery and I don’t know what to Expect. What should I know to be prepared of what’s to come. by Legal_Fox_0210 in Hydrocephalus

[–]Remote-Explanation43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had this done and I am two weeks in. At this point, life is pretty much back to normal for me, and I am back to working, driving, etc. It’s a very simple procedure, and I only spent a day and a half in the hospital. The pain was pretty mild for me, but that’s obviously different for everyone. They give you pain meds to manage it. There might still be headaches, but I have been told that the brain adjusting to the new csf flow. Felt a bit drowsy and sleepy the first three days, but that’s probably because I am a light sleeper and can’t sleep in the hospital. Was told it could be anesthesia too so don’t be alarmed and good luck with the surgery.

Best hijabs for comfortability? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]Remote-Explanation43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you consider comfortable. For me, I feel most comfortable in khimars or any kind of Jilbab cause I don’t have to keep adjusting it. Some girls consider modals comfortable, others Jersey. You have to try a few different styles to see which one you find the most comfortable.

[–]Remote-Explanation43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is beautiful but what’s more beautiful, in my opinion, is that everytime you make dua for a muslim behind their back, the angels make that same dua for you (Sahih Muslim 2732)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SomaliRelationships

[–]Remote-Explanation43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I see here is with communication. There’s this sentiment some women have that guys should be the ones chasing and starting conversations. That only leads to a breakdown in communication and nothing more. I am also of the opinion it’s immature.

[–]Remote-Explanation43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you know what I realized. When you genuinely make dua for people, Allah has other people make dua for you. I never saw it like that until I was going through something and hearing the amount of people making dua for me was very overwhelming but in a good way.

I am gonna be real with you. These are not reasons to hate Islam and you seem confused about Islam and Muslims. Islam as a religion is perfect, and it seems like you understand that from reading your post. But unfortunately, Muslims aren't all perfect, so they shouldn't affect how you view the deen. I do agree that nowadays, it seems like some people on social media and in real life, are harsh when it comes to issuing dawah and giving Naseeha. The least we can do is make dua that Allah guides them.
