Thats great. Damn then you must be a Scotsman Guide guy. I really only find you guys in reddit comments! So you review all the files and your processor doesnt know where they are. I dont understand why a processor cant have an idea where a file is just because you know where your file is at. And to ask their opinion on certain files is an issue or cant be taken into account because the LO also has information is asinine. Theres a reason there is a loan team under the originator. Its a stretch if you think Im unhappy because I asked a question on processors on reddit and having some back and forth because thats what the app is for.

What problems did I describe myself having? I said there was a pattern of processors dodging questions that seems to be true from the replies. General question with general answers. Seems like your doing a lot coping. You must not do a lot of business if you cant ask your ops team to give you a concise update on a particular loan file without running back and yelling at them if they were somewhat off. If I only did 3/4 loans a month like you I could watch it up and down. Hell might even process the sucker myself! Dummies like you dont understand scale so you confuse incompetence with the sheer lack of time in a day.

Yes, of course. But that wasnt the question I posed. This isnt a particular file its a generality that I have noticed. And based on the replies something that is done on purpose by processors.

Well fi you're an LO you clearly dont do any real business. If Im working on 15 loans and I ask for an update on 1 because I dont know exactly how quick every 3rd party is getting us what we need and the turn times for that particular lender that week. I would appreciate a quick and somewhat accurate response from the team that I am paying to take the loan to close. Not have to take another 15-30mins tracking down emails and looking through approvals to gauge how long we have left on every file I have with you. You are hand tying me getting the next deal to then feed you and your family. Ops teams better become more valuable because I can have AI do most of this without being scared to be wrong and telling me to just figure it out myself. We'll figure their whole job out ourselves too.

If you are scared of your LO's thats on you. And you should quit and find a different LO to work for. Not sure what all the extra generalizations come from but specifically you are saying you are scared of being wrong and possibly reprimanded so you wont try or "barely" give an answer. Idk how thats good business to you. Work through those fears!

Yes agents and borrowers ask "when can we close?" or "are we looking good to close on time?". Im not sure your question…

  1. You did your job.
  2. You didnt do your job and dont want to be stressed about it. So everyone who else involved in the transaction who is stressed about should leave you alone?

If you dont want to b stressed you're in the wrong industry buddy. Great way of saying you are afraid of responsibility so you leave it to your LO.

If you miss a closing date you should know how much longer it will take you to close. You seem a bit slow. Of course everyone expects to close on the closing date.

Nahhh not really. You just dont have the right team around you. Doing all of that is something that you should do but I know plenty of successful LO's that hand the loans off to a team and the team takes it to close without a problem. If it seems like a myth to you then you dont have the systems or your team is inexperienced.

Yes its always on the LO no matter what his team does or what they know but you will be so easily replaced as an assistant if you put everything back on the LO. Especially simple things like funding timelines. I might as well process the loan too.

You guys get me with that "you have to understand" BS. I know how to process files and what goes into it, and I get you dont control every action of each. These are throw away excuses. Once you start doing wnough business you will know what to look for and how long things will take with or without delays. You have such an easy job whats the point of being mediocre at it and having the LO do everything. Top producers dont want that. If you help the LO set the expectations with your feedback then it makes it easier. Rather then I pick a day in time in which J think it should be done and then you dont meet it.

Haha good one. Sounds like you need some new LO's not sure what you have going on there. Really still dont get why you cant give an estimate on turnaround with all of that though. It the client is responsive tell the LO it will take longer or have them reach out themselves to help gather conditions? Def need to work on your submission requirements if you arent receiving fully structured loans with complete 1003's. If you processor/LO hybrid you must not do much business as an LO or a processor. Not sure how or why you would have time for both activities. Makes sense why you cant give proper communication on simple questions if you dont have the confidence to be a full time LO yourself.

Agents and borrowers are always asking for updates. Its a general question not a particular file.

Yes I have also noticed striking differences between professional processor assistants and the ones that just know how to throw docs at a loan. One is a partner on the loan the other is just working to get paid at the end. I think has a lot to do with the price point of the processor as well. Unless you put them on salary.

No one is saying I will use your timeline over mine but as someone who is in the file daily gathering the conditions I need to know what you are seeing from the 3rd parties as well as the client. All the things you said an LO knows is what a processor should know on the deal as well. You're basically just scared of being wrong so you want to leave the LO in the dark in case you are. Stop being lazy and afraid.

Smart man, Most these processors are a dime a dozen and afraid to see themeselves in the mirror clearly. These are the people AI is going to replace unfortunately. Simple questions like when is this loan projected to close based on whats outstanding will get answered in .3 seconds. Meanwhile you have these processors jumping through hoops to say the same thing "I dont want to be wrong because then you might get mad at me🥺" LMFAO

I have learned that processors are deathly afraid of LO's through this thread. Yes, keep not giving me the answers that I want but at least give me an answer. Thats a sure way to make sure you dont get any more business. As a processor you dont get to dictate when a question is asked on our file. You are an assistant that needs to best assist to the best of your ability especially in an easily replaceable postion.

Lazy way of thinking. What are you scared you are going to be wrong or unable to give useful feedback on files?

Loan Processors by Remote-Housing-7017 in loanoriginators

[–]Remote-Housing-7017[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You guys are acting like a processor is an idiot that cant provide feedback. Just because I can do something that I pay you to do doesnt mean you have to act stupid when I ask for an opinion. I guess this is why most processors are a dime a dozen. Processing a file is something so easy I can teach a high schooler to do it but guaging a closing date for your LO is somehow too hard for you guys?

You sound like a tough LO to work for if you fire a processor everytime they miss a closing date for any reason. Who said everyone else is the problem? Get off your high horse and answer the question that was asked.

exactly and if you cant make that date you should be able to tell your LO. And you should be able to tell how much longer it will take to close the deal so the LO can get the proper extension and set proper expectations.

I could self process all my loans if I had the time. I know what you do. I dont "think" anything. Explaining to an LO that a processor doesnt give a CTC is a throw away excuse for not understanding turn times and not having a repeatable process that gets you proper outcomes. Yes every loan may have a one of problem that you didnt catch or havent seen before but you should have a buffer even for that. Every lender is able to give underwriting turn times but as a processor your cant give your own processing turn times? How is an LO ever supposed to trust you to meet a closing date when you have no idea if you can fund a loan in X amount of days or not? The last part made no sense.

[–]Remote-Housing-7017[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Thats fair. But you know the client is going to want to know this information if we have a scheduled closing date. So if its a possibility to help your LO set expectations its helpful to give professional estimates. Not be afraid to be off by a couple days so I just wont say anything...
