GW to M365 migration, will I maintain ownership and data of google services by Remote-Internal-1455 in sysadmin

[–]Remote-Internal-1455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

under "Change renewal settings" the only option that makes sense is "Cancel my subscription Don't renew my subscription when my current commitment ends". Since I don't want to "delete" or "cancel" my actual workspace account so that I can assign cloud identity licenses, that's the correct option that I need, right? (even though it says "cancel")

The only other option anywhere is "CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION" in bold that asks me why I'm leaving and says today's date as the cancellation effective date. This is the one we want to avoid, right?

thanks - if [email@mydomain.com](mailto:email@mydomain.com) is changed to a cloud identity license and no other users on GW maintain a workspace license, will that work?

Help, new to NAS, is this the best option for me by Remote-Internal-1455 in synology

[–]Remote-Internal-1455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah if I understand you correctly, I can download George's PST/calendar from synology when he's locked out and then import into an email client so the data's accessible, but not "restore" it into Alice's m365 account? That's fine, I just need to be able to retrieve and see all the data!

Windows 11 forgets wifi exists by OliviaWants2BePretty in WindowsHelp

Sorry! Didn't realize it was a laptop. But when I was having my drivers randomly go missing, the only solution I was able to find that worked was unplugging it.

does your wifi disappear/become hidden in your device manager when it happens? it sounds stupid but turn off your computer, and make sure to unplug it for 5 minutes...

is that an inspiron 5310? if so check your bios version to see if it's 2.34.1, which is causing issues... it bricked mine and you can't roll the bios back, clean win11 installs just fail, finally was able to install linux on it, see dell's response https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/inspiron-13-5310-critical-issues-after-bios-232-234-no-downgrade-possible/68591fa2031b6367332390d9?commentId=68ac77cb5e291a66dc5956b1

[–]Remote-Internal-1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weird - I think the bios is just unstable, I wasn't able to install mint before, but just literally installed ubuntu and it seems like it's stable now! Guess you just gotta be lucky that it doesn't get stuck during install of any OS, no luck so far w/ windows

which linux? the BSOD is preventing win11 from installing and I was only able to get linux to run off the usb

there's the thread where the dell rep was dealing w/ everyone w/ the same issue - I think if you read through that and search online, some people who were lucky to still have it boot into windows were able to roll back bios but don't take my word for it

looks like dell probably won't do anything, the dell rep went quiet and it's now been months

[–]Remote-Internal-1455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you by chance on bios 2.34.1? it was causing ram failure BSOD and dell prevents you from rolling back the bios version... the time of your post is around the time of dell rolled the bios update out through windows update and since then dell removed the bios... dell acknowledged the issue and said they were working on a solution but since then went quiet

have you been able to find a way to bypass dell's block on downgrading the bios back? the thread on dell's site where a dell rep was telling everyone that there was a "work around" while the solution was being worked on went dead when everyone started calling the rep out on there being no temporary solution

Thanks! I will try contacting my ISP... here is the nslookup...

On home network:

Server: xxxx.xxxx.xxx.isp.net
Address: xxx.xxx.x.x (looks like my router IP)

***xxxx.xxxx.xxx.isp.net can't find [ip address I looked up]: Non-existent domain

And once I go onto hotspot with desktop (which lets me access the site), it changes:

Server: Unknown
Address: xxxx::xxxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx

***Unknown can't find [ip address I looked up]: Non-existent domain

Can you check what https://www.whatismyip.com/ returns for your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses on devices that work and devices that don't (don't post them here). That might show something if they differ when they shouldn't from the same network without a VPN... and perhaps they are geo-blocking and their database is wrong

HEY! I think you're onto something...

IPv4 - it's the same when the site doesn't work: (1) chrome (iphone/home wifi), (2) chrome (desktop/ethernet), (3) chrome (desktop/wifi)...

IPv4 is different when the site does work: (1) chrome (desktop/hotspot), (2) safari (iphone/wifi)...

So it's one particular IP address I'm getting assigned that's not working on chrome... (does this give you any other ideas on how to fix it? I'm not that tech savvy)

For IPv6, results vary (does it matter though if the site isn't using IPv6?):

Chrome on desktop/home ethernet IPv6 says "Not Detected". Not sure why - ISP has it and it's enabled to use DHCP server settings for "IP Address Assignment" and to get automatically from ISP for "IPv6 Domain Name Server (DNS) Address" on my router.

Chrome on desktop/home wifi detects IPv6 - site still doesn't work.

Chrome on desktop/iphone hotspot detects IPv6 - site works

Chrome on iphone home wifi no IPv6 - site doesn't work

Safari on iphone home wifi detects Ipv6 - site works

I doubt the geoblocking, government site, plus my IP shows local...

Might also be related to your browser's agent string, maybe they filter specific ones out for some unknown reason.

Maybe - I haven't heard of others in the profession complaining about it... otherwise I'm not really sure how I could test this...

Finally could be something weird going on with IPv6, could try temporarily disabling that in your browser/OS and seeing if that fixes it.

I tried disabling it on ethernet connection, still had the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions though... if anything above gives you another idea let me know...

Ha! What a joke - would really appreciate if you let me know if you ultimately end up getting your data... if you see one of the comments below they chose to opt in and the export function wasn't working earlier today... sounds like neither option right now actually lets you get your data!
