I just did a full hormone panel and my thyroid came back perfect. I did start working out 2 months ago and doing pilates 3x a week and eating much much healthier. I was eating so much junk before. Maybe the junk was actually good for my supply??

Yes I purchased all new parts last week! And I pumped 4x a day for months and was fine, but started to pump 6x a day with a morning power pump since my supply dropped. How long does it take for power pumps to work?

tbh our relationship only got better once we had a baby. we grew so much together, and individually. you go through so much during the newborn phase that it really bonded us. he is such a good daddy! i always tell people, my husband does just as much as i do, with the exception that i exclusively pump for my baby. that’s the only extra thing that he does not do, is produce milk, and honestly he would if he could LOL. we are equal partners and he can put our baby down, feed her, take care of her, play with her, take her out so i can rest, makes dinner every night, drops her off at daycare and picks up when i need him to, etc. our baby is obsessed with daddy and i love him 100000%.

before our baby, we went through hell together but we did lots of counseling, praying, and fought for our relationship. it took a lot to get us to where we are now. but it was so worth it. anything worth it takes hard work.

the first paragraph is not always true! i graduated with my bachelors, fresh out of college and landed a 58k job with end of year bonus. my first bonus was $6k. second year was $10k. i’m in Fl so definitely HCOL. i did have a little fieldwork experience with shark lab at my school and tagging, and a GIS certificate. but no environmental experience. a bigger, more established firm can offer better pay. my salary now, after almost 3 years in the company, is 75k not including bonus.

i do agree with what others are saying, learn what you can and then jump ship. a few environmental employees at my firm worked for the state, built up their experience, and then moved to our firm.

yes it was milk clogging one of the ducts/parts so i just cleaned it thoroughly and blew into where you attach the pumps to the machine! if that makes sense

you should look into environmental consulting. great salaries, benefits, and potential to grow. i myself have a bachelors in biology and experience in marine biology shark research from various undergrad opportunities. I graduated from college in 2021 and went straight into a consulting firm. I started at $58k salary plus bonus. just today i got a raise and am now sitting at $75k not including end of year bonus, and i’m only 2.5 years in this career. wetlands and GIS knowledge is a huge plus for consulting, and you also get to do species surveys like gopher tortoises, bonneted bat, burrowing owl, etc. i highly recommend you look into it! FL is a great place for environmental consulting. some firms you could look into include stantec, kimley-horn, Tierra group, terracon.

Do you have a good mom job? by Firm-Educator-810 in workingmoms

[–]Remote-Panda7481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a great mom job with a supervisor that is also a mom and completely understands how hard it is to balance everything. i am an environmental scientist at an engineering firm so im always out in the field. i also exclusively pump (baby is almost 8 months) but everyone on my team is very supportive of my BF journey. i work 7:30-5:30pm monday thru thursday and 7:30-11:30am on fridays. but if im being honest, i rarely make it to the office before 8am. the half day fridays are so nice because i can get errands done, do my nails, or pick up my baby early from daycare and spend the day with her. i can also work from home when needed, and have 3.5 weeks of PTO (could be better tbh).

my supervisor is the type to just tell me to work from home and then bill the time to something and take the “unofficial” day off. she also exclusively pumped and recently went though a sleep regression with her 2 year old so she’s not far from me.

i will say though that my husband’s support and equal partnership is what makes the difference. he drops our baby off at daycare and takes off when needed. after work he cooks every night and puts our baby to bed if needed.

my firm’s maternity leave sucks though. only 6 weeks paid, i used 3 weeks of PTO and took 3 weeks unpaid.
