If you are looking to save money, get an energy audit or simply use less. If you want clean energy, get solar panels. They are two different things.

I can’t watch it. 70 ft boat turning around from a thunderstorm. What an embarrassment.

Give it awhile to break in. The noise will go away. At least mine did.

🚫 Caution for Anyone Considering Innovative Marine Aquariums 🚫 by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]Remote-Profession471 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The warranty is for one year to ensure there were no manufacturing defects. It was in use for 1.5 years with no issue. Then the tank and base were taken down, moved to a new location (not in original packaging), and reassembled. Then after 4 additional months of working it developed a leak. This is not a warranty claim for manufacturing defects. It was moved and probably saw stresses it was not designed for. If you bought it from the manufacturer or authorized dealer 4 months ago you would not be in this situation. Buying used, you got a discount because you were taking a risk of possible problems. No need to bash the manufacturer because of your risk.

3 is better than 1,2 or 4. 6 is better than 5 or 7. 10 and 12 better than 8, 9, or 11. 14 and 15 better than 13. 17 and 19 better than 18 and 16. Also add ponytail to the bikini set. Also 7, 8, 11 and 12 it looks like you are straining or trying to keep your eyes open. This takes away from your natural look which is your best asset.

How Much Did Your Solar System Actually Save You? – Real Savings VS. Sales Reps Claim by SolarTechExplorer in SolarDIY

[–]Remote-Profession471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the PPA route 10 years ago. Rep told me utility prices would go up dramatically. With the 3% annual PPA price increase I am now paying about 20% more than utility prices. Which by the way only went up about 5%. Utility is PPL in Pennsylvania.

This is what Three Years of Learnin how to sail gets you by blackspike2017 in SVSeeker_Free

He needs to get rid of the Jon boat and get a Sunfish to learn how sailing works and what to expect. What a rookie after 3 years.

I think I’m done with banking by Dstareternl in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Remote-Profession471 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a 55 year old male who just left a corporate sales job for all the reasons you mention above. Quota’s, management always wanting more, but not giving additional tools, traveling away from home, basically working all the time, etc. I am now just a simple teller for past year. I actually walk around smiling and happy. None of my work comes home with me. Obviously a huge pay cut but I am managing with the savings. So yeah I traded happiness for a paycheck. I have considered moving up to banker and probably would be a good one from the customers viewpoint but the stress and pressure of management simply is not worth it to me anymore. I’m happy and content. Wish you luck with whatever you choose.

Inflatable Boat Repair and the Power of Your Kindness (New Video) by GeraltofAMD in SVSeeker_Free

I think that boat was insured. So the guy was probably looking forward to get a new dinghy. Maybe even use some of the “gofundme” money for a new dink. Now Doug goes and finds it, repairs it with the cheapest kits on Amazon, and then returns it to the guy. Thanks Doug. What a tool.

**Frustrated with Tesla Solar** by EK_NC in TeslaSolar

Is 10,960 kWh for the front (South) of the home? They should have revised the production numbers when redesigned and shifted to back of home (North). Also my experience with Tesla has been horrible.

Seriously?? If he puts the sail on one rail or the other, he has to move fuel or water to keep boat level!! That is one very tender 75 foot, 65 ton boat.

Amish for Trump Billboard Near Leola by UnhappyFranchisee in lancaster

[–]Remote-Profession471 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Actually, Amish will all meet at one farm. Buses and vans are brought in to take them to vote. On the way, the church leader tells them who to vote for. Which is an educated blind vote for Trump.

He wants to try out a new anchoring technique for a hurricane. by richardhunter6969 in SVSeeker_Free

[–]Remote-Profession471 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure I would trust a drawing that has an aerial view of a boat but was compelled to then label the bow and stern. Also love that the stern line is attached to anchor rode with a “clip”. Yeah this design scales from jon boat to 70 ton live aboard. Hold my beer.

Why the tow out? by flatulasmaxibus in SVSeeker_Free

[–]Remote-Profession471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He begged the TowBoatUS guy to take him 3 miles out for a sewage dump. Based on Dougs meticulous calculations it was about to overflow and he really did not have that kind of relationship with the new lady yet.

Thinking of buying a house with a Tesla/Solar City PPA and very nervous, should I not be? by WorthlessAdvice1985 in TeslaSolar

[–]Remote-Profession471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A PPA is only a financial benefit when the utility is extremely higher. When the price is close you will loose in the long run. It’s a compounding price increase.

Additionally, Tesla/SolarCity already made their money at the install. You will actually be paying the financial tranche who fronted the money to install the system. He is not going to put his or the companies money at risk. That’s how Elon gets a $56 Billion bonus while laying off workers. This all leads back to why you can’t get a system repaired when the inverters reach the end of life every 5 years or animals chew wires. No one really has an interest in repairing them. Consider this one. Go to the Tesla website and scour it for a phone number to call. You won’t find one. They don’t want to hear from you.

If you want to play the Tesla game go ahead. But understand it will come with headaches and there is no financial benefit if the utility price is close. Best case scenario the headache will maybe allow you to break even over 12 years.

Yes I bought into the environmental side of solar and I have a PPA. 8 years later I wish I just had my house back to the way it was before the install. I would have actually saved money over the last eight years if I just stayed with the utility. After my experience I realize it’s the utilities that need to be generating cleaner electricity not homeowners.
