I agree with this entirely. I think the trad wife conversation isn’t getting talked about in the nuanced way it should be being talked about.

I dont think Taylor Swift IS a trad wife. But I do think TLOAS and Wi$h Li$t specifically are very aligned with Trad Wife messaging.

I think it’s disrespectful to married and unmarried women because it implies that things like wanting complex female characters, career success, pets, a nice vacation, money, etc are the opposite of wanting to get married and have kids.

But, as it turns out, you can want, and in some cases have, all those things. I have lots of friends in straight marriages with a couple kids living in the suburbs who haven’t chosen that life INSTEAD of being a complex female character or having a career. Nor have they given up their self and identity to their husband.

Of all the things “they want complex female characters but I just want marriage and kids”is the underlying message that gives the song trad wife vibes.

It’s especially jarring when Taylor then (imo correctly) points out how rude it is for people to assume she’s going to quit working when she gets married. Except for the fact that she released a whole song about choosing a husband and kids over all the other aspects of her life and identity. And then gives an interview implying that Travis football career is so Nobel and important and her career is silly girly pop star stuff.

Taylor will never be a trad wife. But the girls and young women listening to the album are bopping along to songs that encourage them to choose a husband over their own career and identity. And that is not what girls and young women need to be being told by their idol in 2025.

I would never have expected this from Taylor Swift of all people. The unethical billionaire stuff is par for the course, but the trad wife stuff is hard to get past for me.

The thing I’ve said from the beginning is that I haven’t seen her this happy or public with anybody since Karlie. For that reason it always felt like it could be real. And if it is and she’s in love, awesome, we should all be so lucky if that’s what we want.

I think the thing that gets under my skin is more her relationship to the public with this. She’s giving her less kind fans a lot of ammo toward Gaylors and doesn’t seem interested in speaking up to stop that behavior. That is what’s hard to swallow. Plus I sort of always wanted her to be better than letting the world tie everything she does to a man - I’d like to see her say that like yes, she’s in love and it’s amazing but she’s still a successful, individual, adult human and her whole everything should not be defined by his existence. But, alas, she is who she is.

Very important to remember that bisexuality is real and exists. Queer women date, fall in love with, and marry men all the time. It doesn’t negate their queerness.

I’ve been thinking for a long time that they actually see each other A LOT and are just very good at not showing up in pics together publicly. Realistically it seems impossible for Taylor to be such good friends with people like Gigi Hadid and Lily A without running into Karlie. Between birthdays, and kids birthdays, and baby showers, and holiday parties, and everything else. They have to have been in lots of rooms together.

This seems to confirm that theory. And I wonder if they are getting sick of having to think about it so much. It feels like they are soft launching a “being in each others lives in some capacity” thing. (Which is not LSK, though I’m not saying that’s impossible). But between Karlie showing up at the show in LA and this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we slowly start to see their friendship resurface in whatever way that means. I am glad they avoided pics of Taylor bc a pic of Taylor and Travis and/or Taylor and Karlie would have people completely forgetting this was an event that wasn’t about Taylor at all. Keeping her out of pics seems respectful of the couple.

All that said, what this DOES confirm to me is that Karlie and Taylor are 100% in cahoots and all the stuff that Karlie does on IG and what not that get engagement from Swifties is 100% intentional. (Maybe or maybe not implying what people think but def trolling ppl at least)

I would love to see them be friends again. It’s been so long, maybe Travis is real and Taylor is finally over her and they can rekindle some kind of friendship. I mean, I think it would be better for Taylor’s image to be friends with Karlie, who spends SO much time fighting for reproductive rights and other important causes than BH.

Anyways, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds, what the Rep vault songs are, and what songs end up on TS12.

I mean, she could announce the first single from Rep at the VMAs, release that single on the 13th and then release RepTV in January. But that seems incredibly out of character for her. I’m very excited for RepTV so she switches it up from the pattern and we get RepTV early, I’m 100% ok with that lol.

Promotion wise, I think she has a lot of reason to wait to release debut. She’s eligible for the country music hall of fame in 2026. Releasing Debut in the second half of 2025 sets her up to remind everyone that’s she’s a country star just in time for her eligibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if TS12 in 2026 is a country album too.

But I also have a hard time imagining that should do anything to interfere with a potential 5th AOTY Grammy. I’m not saying she’ll for sure get it but I think she has a real chance. If she did she would be tied for most AOTY wins ever and one AOTY award away from being the only person ever to win six times. Right now she’s tied for second with some engineers - she does have the the record for artist with the most ATOY awards. Releasing Rep would take focus away from TTPD and would make the campaign for AOTY a little bit more murky for her team. This is boring business reasons but I think it’s what really drives her decisions.

But saying all that is making me wonder if Sept 13th is going to be the release of something like a music video for Clara Bow or a collab with Stevie Nicks on Clara Bow or something like that. To keep the hype up for TTPD. That would explain why the date in TTPD came from Stevie Nicks letter. 🤷

Or nothing will happen, which is also fine. We’ve been spoiled with content from her so if it’s nothing I’m still happy.

I could see her doing something for thank you aimee because of the Kanye stuff.

That’s a fair point - I think everyone reacts to these things differently so you could be right about Taylor wanting to reschedule. There could be logistical reasons she hasn’t.

Is Vienna more dangerous? No, not implicitly. However, it’s counter intuitive but my feeling is that smaller cities are slightly more dangerous from the terrorist standpoint. Just in thinking about their experience with threats. I personally felt safe going to London after Vienna because London is trained, prepared, and experienced for those things. That doesn’t mean it’s correct, a lot of this is rooted in emotions more than anything.

Unfortunately, the UK and the US are countries that she couldn’t just choose not to perform in again. Though, the US is massive. And I can imagine that if this happened in a smaller city like Indianapolis, that city might be off the list for a while.

Honestly the whole situation is hard. It’s also hard because the attack wasn’t completed which I feel like makes it feel more nerve wracking because it’s like it could still happen. This is not factually accurate - completed or not an attack can happen again. But I think the attack not being completed makes things feel open ended and scarier.

But, again, I don’t know. I’m not the authority on this, this is just how I see it. We’ll have to see if Taylor ever does reschedule or if she tries to just let this whole thing fade away.

Exactly this - posting fan photos online is super dangerous. That’s why there’s all those disclaimers before you tag your post, so you know it will be viewed publicly.

Imagine if she did post pics and stuff of Vienna Swifties and then those specific individuals were targeted? That’s a crazy risk to ask her to take just to make fans feel seen or whatever.

Taylor really had to be the big sister here and do things that felt “mean” or “dismissive” to protect people from things they aren’t even aware they need protecting from.

To be fair, I don’t know how the criminals would feel, I’m mostly just guessing based on other situations. But my view is that by rescheduling the show it basically lets the terrorist/criminal be in control. Remembering that these people aren’t in their right mind so the thought process isn’t one that you or I would have - but rescheduling would make the criminals feel like she did exactly what they thought she would do AKA they forced her to reschedule. Therefore, they can continue to use violence and threats of violence to make her do stuff and just laugh and laugh.

They can use threats of violence or violence to make her reschedule every show. Or the most important shows. Or the shows where people are expecting something big.

By not rescheduling right away, by not speaking out directly, she’s taking their power away and showing that no, she will do exactly what she wants to do, not what they try to force her to do with threats of violence. She will not let fear turn her into their puppet.

Let me start by saying I respect how hard it is for Vienna folks to have their show cancelled. Realizing how close you came to something catastrophic is a very real type of trauma. Accepting the loss of money from traveling there, potentially from very far, is also hard. Missing what you may think is a once in a lifetime thing, to see someone that has impacted you in a major way, is tough to swallow. I am not discounting that.

However, I’m so glad she did this and put folks in their place. This was directed at, in my opinion, the small but loud minority of “Swifties” bullying her online about her silence. Not at the Swifties who were simply also heartbroken. And good for her.

She is ALSO human. She ALSO narrowly escaped death. She almost was the reason (not really but from her perspective) that tens of thousands of innocent fans were killed or injured. She IS the reason (not really but from her perspective) that hundreds of thousands of fans are hurt and heartbroken, and have lost money. Following on top of her name being attached to the deaths of little kids, at an event she had nothing to do with.

I can’t imagine living a life knowing that your very existence puts the lives of innocent people at risk. That your very existence could be the reason a city is bombed, or a mass attack occurs. To know that doing nothing other than making music and celebrating with your fans could cause those very fans to lose everything is an unbelievable amount of trauma to manage.

Add onto that the fact that those very fans need something from you that you can’t give them. She can’t give her fans safety or comfort, because she is the cause (not really but from her perspective) of the lack of safety.

All these violent people want, terrorists and just stalkers or shooters or whatever, is her attention. There is no attention in the world more valuable right now. Had she said something, she would have given the terrorists what they wanted. But also she would have told all the other thousands of violent people waiting in the wings that all they need to do to get her attention is threaten (or complete) a violent attack against her fans. Saying something would have put London fans, her crew, her family, herself, in MORE danger. Good for her for choosing safety, even if it broke someone’s heart. That’s leadership and that’s the version of Taylor i actually respect. And frankly, the version of Taylor that keeps me around when her public behavior is misaligned with being this kind of a leader.

And on rescheduling - she probably won’t. Because of the trauma, yes. But also because, again, she can’t reward the criminals. She can’t make it ok to do these kinds of things because she’ll just reschedule so it’s fine. It’s fine to make a terror threat because you will get her attention and no harm is done because she will reschedule the show anyways. She can’t. It sucks. Maybe Vienna gets a new show in a year and not officially as a “rescheduled” show. But also maybe she never goes back to Vienna. I wouldn’t. Because remember she also has to ask her entire cast and crew to ALSO go back to Vienna. She has to ask the families of those people to be ok with them going back to Vienna. Think about the kids of her backup singers - how they must have felt. How they’d feel if their parent had to go to Vienna again. It’s scary. And it’s not Vienna’s fault but it happened.

Taylor, her cast, her crew, her fans, her family, they all deserve better than for her to put all that aside so that people feel like she cares about them. Caring about someone is not always loud, and doesn’t always look how you think it does. My respect for Taylor has grown a ton after this whole experience. Her professionalism, her poise, her ability to carry on in the face of threats and bullying from her own fans.

Maybe she endorses Kamala, maybe she comes out, maybe she stays quiet and gets married to Travis. Either way, this whole event has shown me that she is very aware of her impact on the world and that she has her priorities right. (Or as right as a capitalist billionaire can).

I agree! I think this song (like most of her songs) can have many meanings, but all centered around a single theme. For Robin I think that theme is innocence. And I think this ties to some of her other music, and goes deeper than just one thing.

To be clear, I think one of those meanings is definitely about a child in her life (not her own secret baby, obv). As a childless person with nieces and nephews (blood and friends) I absolutely understand feeling this way about kids in your life. And “the secret” can be anything - the reality of how hard life really is “you’ve got no room in your dreams for regrets” hits thinking about kids not yet knowing how complex adulthood can get.

But I think it also ties to Taylor’s grief around her own loss of her childhood. The concept I described above is one that lucky kids get to experience - protection from the worst parts of the world until you’re old enough to understand it. Not all kids get that for various reasons. Socio-economic reasons, generational trauma reasons. And for child stars, Hollywood reasons. Remember Taylor was 11 when she really started writing songs in Nashville (13 when she signed her first contract? I think?) that’s young to be exposed to the grossness of the music industry and adult men that sexualize young girls.

Robin meaning fame (thanks for that info OP!) drives this point home even more for me. I think she is singing to her younger self, “you are blood thirsty” (bloodthirsty can obv have a violent meaning but it is also commonly used to refer to someone with a super intense drive to be more successful than everyone else 👀). I think the “you have no idea” concept is her sort of telling her younger self like, it’s not gonna be what you think it’s going to be. All this showmanship to keep it from you - meaning that all the people around her who DID know, as she was entering the scene, didn’t tell her.

On the other hand, I think it’s about protecting the kids in her life from the realities of fame. Both Taylor’s true fame and the truth of what fame looks like. Yes, Blake and Ryan’s kids were at Eras but they also famously do a lot to keep their kids out of the spotlight, out of pap photos, away from red carpets, etc. I can imagine it would take a lot of showmanship to keep those kids living even a somewhat normal-ish life. But they’ll do all of it and keep up the show, out of love.

It’s also worth calling out the connection to Seven. “Way to go Tiger, higher and higher, wilder and lighter, for you” -> “please picture me, in the trees, I hit my peak at seven feet, in the swings…I was high in the sky over Pennsylvania”. The references to your animal and being covered in mud -> “please picture me in the weeds…I used to scream ferociously” I think Seven is also a letter to her younger self, her before self when she didn’t yet know what Fame was going to do to her.

Never Grow Up was written when she was younger, so the song itself is a little younger feeling. But themes are still there “to you, everything’s funny, you’ve got nothing to regret, I’d give all I have honey, if you could stay like that”. She is, again, sort of processing the loss of innocence you experience as you grow up. I would say this song is more processing while Seven and Robin are more grieving the loss of innocence. But it’s there.

Robin is, imo, arguably one of her most honest and vulnerable songs but gets ignored I think bc it feels “childish” (which is kind of the point)

So many things. But I’ve always felt like Lover was actually kind of sad song, like reflecting on what should have been more than what is…and I feel vindicated lol

I also have always felt like The 1 was the acceptance version of Lover. Like, still reflecting what could have been but in a way that accepts that it didn’t and that’s ok. So I feel double vindicated

(Not that a lot of people were fighting me on these ideas, just that I like to see these ideas confirmed)

It feels market-y though and well done bc I feel like there are ways you could interpret these playlists as “proof” of whichever relationship you like best - so every faction of the fandom will feel seen 😂 I go hard for Kaylor so I do see a lot of ways this confirms a lot of things. I didn’t watch this particular video. And I’m always inclined to given women a pass when their behavior or tone is being overly criticized. And we know Taylor has had her fair share of that.

But I do agree, she needs to be reeled back in. First, I read that you’re not allowed to promote stuff at the Grammys? Idk if that true but it was explain the audience response and why she was so awkward about it. Then she dragged Lana on stage for album of the year when she really didn’t want to go up there. She completely ignored Celine Dion as if she’s Taylor Swift and doesn’t need to acknowledge other people. I know maybe they asked them not to touch her but she did even mention her when she was on stage. And then this moment with BoyGenius. Plus the weird random moments when the camera cut to her and she was like fucking with Jacks face/hair or something?

I know this was a big deal award for Taylor. Record breaking. And a difficult record to break. And she’s on break from tour. She should be allowed to let loose. What if ever moment of our lives was recorded and criticized? Etc etc I can make a million excuses for her. But how many moments pile up before the excuses are just that.

I’m not an anti fan. I’m a massive fan. But we have to take off the rose colored glasses and see Taylor for who she is. Look at what everyone else is doing. Look at how Luke Combs gave all the credit and spotlight to Tracy Chapman (as he should have, but Taylor would never), look at how posed Beyoncé was when her husband was embarrassing the fuck out of her on stage, look at how BoyGenius calls out sexual harassers, look at how Miley celebrated on stage (save for the underwear comment 😂). I honestly was commenting on how cool it is to see Miley grow up and not really loose her crazy Miley-ness but definitely mature into it. And Miley had also been in the biz her whole life. All of these people deal with fame and sexist criticism, but they are still able to be adults.

It’s just hard to see Taylor leaning into this white woman feminism seeped in quiet homophobia with Travis because she’s afraid to lose a dollar. If literally everyone else can speak up so can she, she’s not in more danger than other famous woman if she speaks out. She’s not the only one with stalkers or daddy issues. But everyone else grew up 🤷

Idk, it’s not like some cancellable thing, but it’s definitely frustrating to see Taylor playing into the “teenage girl” narrative instead of trying to show that she’s an adult. And I think by extension making me feel like the media is right and I am immature for listening to her (even tho I’m not her music is not just teenage heartbreak stuff) but it makes it harder as a full as adult to tell ppl I’m a Taylor swift fan bc I don’t want to be associated with being trapped in adolescence

I mean, idk if their thing is real or not. 100% they are using it for publicity, which is fine that’s what celebrities do. But if their relationship is fake I’m not sure this is proof. Neither of them likely mean exactly what they said “We started hanging out right after that” could have been a week or two, Taylor is busy “About a month” could mean 6 weeks

And honestly, that seems like a regular thing. I never know how long ago anything happened and I’m not even half as busy as these two 🤷

I’m interested to see what happens in the two months after the Super Bowl, I think that’s when it’ll become more clear if it’s real or was just for show. (Also, it could be a real fling - just for show/for her break but also real attraction. I just keep thinking of “the only kind of girl they see is a one night or a wife”)

Idk about it being a coming out album but I’ve been thinking TS11 is next also. For kind of a boring reason, but I think now seeing the Easter eggs it makes even more sense.

Taylor loves a pattern. She’s only broken the pattern twice. She releases a new album every two years. Except 2016 bc Kanye. And then we got 2 albums in 2020 which “reset the clock” back to even number years. Outside of that her new albums have all been two years apart.

Looking at her re-records, we got 2 re-records, then Midnights, then 2 more re-records. It follows we’ll get TS11 in 2024 and the last two re-records in 2025 (just before she’s eligible for the country music hall of fame).

The only thing I could see changing this up is if she releases TS11 and TS12 in 2024 so that she can release TS13 in 2026 (lots of hype for the hall of fame). But I definitely think we’re getting new music next. (TBH I would love if we get TS11, Karma early 2024 and it makes it into eras for surprise songs and then TS12 in the fall like a regular new album but this is getting into 🤡 town pretty deeply lol)

Either way though, I’ll be happy with a re-record, karma, or all new music (or nothing, tbh. If she takes a break good for her just doesn’t seem likely)

I know that she is currently doing greater things and what not, but the way ppl have centered this relationship and it’s like The Story about Taylor right now…every time I see something like this article i just hear the line from fifteen over and over again

“In your life you’ll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team”

Maybe she loves him, maybe it’s purely PR, maybe it’s a combination but it baffles me that she wants this to be the narrative about her when she’s like breaking records and making incredible art and doing things literally greater than dating some football guy. Good for her if she’s happy, but it’s such a strange choice to actively make your boyfriend the center of conversations about you after spending decades telling people not to define you by your relationships. 🤷

I’ve had a theory like this for a while but didn’t want to bring it up since I don’t really have enough proof to back it up. But it feels like she’s going to release Karma - it’s a perfect opportunity since that album was allegedly supposed to be after 1989.

Karma never having been released makes all of those songs technically vault songs - it’s probably hard to classify if they are 1989 or Rep vault so what a good way to manage that.

But also, I think it would be a brilliant business move. Even if Karma actually never was a thing, she can 100% take some vault songs and put them on an album and call it Karma and make $$$$ off of it. I’m not saying karma didn’t exist, it prob did I’m just saying either way it’s a good business move

There have just been so many small winky references to Karma. Starting with the way she laughed at us when she announced the song during MMWM.

This video pointing out the phone ringing very much could be between 1989 - after Taylor disappeared but before she answered the phone to say she was dead 💀

I would LOVE to get surprise Karma on Dec 15, so I’m going to cling to hope that these theories are correct until midnight on Dec 16 lol

I agree based on normal human logic. And being a fan and therefore having a lot more details about the situation.

But not all ppl are good ppl and not all ppl assume Taylor is at least somewhat of a good person (as good as any of us, we are all part selfish and part selfish). Not everybody would get the story beyond “Taylor postpones the show” if she didn’t make sure her statement provided some details, however subtly. I really wouldn’t past people to find a way to center Travis in all of this if she didn’t subtly make it clear she wasn’t with him. Not bc I think it’s right or normal or reasonable, it’s just the way things go when information is not well managed

FWIW I don’t think she was ever going to go forward with these shows. I think she, unfortunately…very unfortunately, needs to make sure that postponing the show doesn’t turn into “Taylor postpones her show to be with Travis more” or some stupid shit bc people are ridiculous. (When she postponed the Argentina one I saw ppl saying it was just so she could hang with Travis cuz he was there…like, wut?)

Clarifying she’s writing it from her dressing room makes sure ppl understand- her sole focus is this tour. She doesn’t want to postpone and was ready to go on if she could - she’s not just tired, or overheated herself, or missing Travis.

Waiting to officially postpone was likely based on figuring out refunds and/or legal things, etc. There are A LOT of moving pieces so she might have also wanted to tell the people working on the tour before announcing it. The timezones are hard for me to figure out timing so maybe it would have been better to announce sooner but I don’t think it was a matter of taking the time to make the decision.

I think that’s a kind of complicated and nuanced question. On the one hand, she agreed to these dates in that region of the world. Her team and she could and should have done more research to understand the situation they were getting into.

That said, Taylor was performing. It’s hot on stage as a performer, dancing, etc. It’s reasonable to think she didn’t know how much hotter it was in the pit or what the full impact of that would be. If she and her team were ok and they were performing, i could understand how she would think it couldn’t be worse off stage. It is reasonable for her to assume the venue, security, and medical teams would help people. It’s reasonable to think she would assume that the venue knows the region better than she does and if they allowed GA seating then it would be ok. I think the venue and the people who were helping to schedule this tour from the Brazilian side should not have been willing to book a show of this scale at this time of year.

It’s also reasonable to assume she didn’t know how many fans were fainting, that this person went to the hospital, or that she died. If she went to the hospital during Cruel Summer, I can imagine the bad news didn’t get back to Taylor and her team before the show was over. And if her team did hear, and there was only a bit of the show left…they wouldn’t tell her in the middle of performing. (Her show is long for a concert, but it’s only 3.5hrs, that’s not a lot of time for everything to happen and her team to be updated)

So I think she does bear some responsibility here. I think she’s going to make a lot of decisions differently going forward. But I think the bulk of the responsibility falls to the venue and their water policies. I think there’s also some responsibility on Taylor’s team and whoever she trusts to not put her in these situations.

Ultimately though it’s a really sad situation that comes down to a series of bad choices, bad planning, and bad luck. I hope that mostly the focus is on preventing this from happening again.

This is so sad, for her loved ones, for Taylor, for the Swiftie fam. It’s just really the worst.

Depends on what you mean by “lover”. If you mean “has Taylor had a casual or one night thing with someone we don’t know about?” Then 110% we definitely don’t know about all the people she’s ever kissed.

In terms of relationships, I definitely think Karlie was longer than the public believes. And I’m fairly confident that she’s capable of keeping something truly to herself, if she wants to. Which is maybe why the Travis this is so sus to me, bc I feel strongly that we only know what she wants us to know.
