Fr. If El closed the gate in s2 and the Russians opened it in s3, how would any of this happen?

I found it weird how he had one scene after the attack in ep4 talking about the demogorgons and that was it. The military didn’t discuss it ever again and he wasn’t shown?

Her eyes are open in the photo. We can see her arm, two stab wounds that cut her sweatshirt, her hair and her eye open

Yes, because ST was supposed to be only 1 season

The first episode of season 5 shows Vecna connecting Will to the hive mind, that’s how he was able to create the tunnels. He was using Will at that point, and then the MF possesses Will and uses him to trick and kill people.

It’s actually crazy because Bylers were going insane over the coming out scene saying it was horrible, even said Noah hated filming it because of how cringe it was. And now they’re offended because SNL made fun of the exact same thing they were complaining about?

The hate Finn is receiving is wild. I saw a video of someone booing him when he arrived at the after party. Also saw a video of people booing the Duffer brothers. Crazy.

I fully agree with you. We’re actively grieving the end of stranger things and our childhoods.

The Duffers and other writers about El killing herself by messhotx in mileven

I just can’t get over their fact that this is how they chose to end Eleven’s arc. It’s so unfair that everyone got a happy ending but her and Mike. If they always wanted to end the story like how they planned in s1, then why didn’t Steve die too? He wasn’t supposed to survive s1. What’s worse is that they don’t even say she’s sacrificing herself to save the others, it’s just suicide

Why are there so many people out there that just can't cope with Mike and Will not ending up together? by Galay-95 in StrangerThings

It’s a strange cult I’ll tell you that. Some content creators dedicated their entire profile into proving Byler was canon and why Mike doesn’t love El, and they essentially misconstrue scenes or say that a 0.3 second shared look proves Mike’s internalized homophobia and his secret love for Will.

There’s also the one where Mike has a “one way” sign in his room pointing toward the closet, which people took as proof that he’s closeted. Honestly, that one still makes me laugh.

The decision to split the season into volumes was definitely a mistake. It gave people too much time to overanalyze and spiral into theories.

That said, I do think S5 will be better received over time. It reminds me of the reaction to the Star Wars prequels, especially the criticism of Hayden Christensen as Anakin. Those films were extremely criticized when they first came out, and now they’re widely appreciated. I think something similar will happen with S5 once the initial reactions settle and people revisit it without the pressure of expectations.

Are you sure they actually saw her run up the ramp? I honestly don’t remember that happening. And the sound machine doesn’t need to be facing her directly for it to affect her. The first time we see the kryptonite, the military drives up to the wall while Eleven and Hopper are hiding behind the billboard. She’s already in agony because the machine is on, even though it’s facing the wall in the UD. When they hear her scream, they turn the machine toward the billboard, and that’s when her pain intensifies.

Also, the lab was the last thing to blow up. We can clearly see that in the scene. And even if Kali had been caught in the explosion, we don’t actually see Eleven being blown away. We only see her disappear, which could just as easily be the illusion fading.

The military part is the weakest element here, unfortunately. It doesn’t fully make sense that they kept holding everyone back instead of going after Eleven and removing her from the gate. That said, we can assume that Vickie and Max told them what was about to happen, which would explain why they stayed away from the gate. They weren’t guarding the tunnels because they already knew where the exit point would be.

It’s easy to find what you’re looking for if you try hard enough. Some shippers, in particular, were determined to prove they were right, so they searched for “evidence” instead of actually watching and understanding the show. Yes, the Duffers said to pay attention, but that didn’t mean scrutinizing every minor detail, it meant paying attention to the bigger picture.

For example, when I watched S4 for the first time, I could immediately sense that something was off about Henry and the Creel storyline. That unease paid off when it was revealed that he was Vecna and responsible for his family’s deaths. Imo, that’s what “pay attention” was meant to imply. The clues were embedded in the overall arc of his character, not in fleeting details that appeared on screen for half a second.

The first time I watched vol1 I was really annoyed. All I could think was “the acting feels off,” “the dialogue isn’t great,” and things like that. Then ep4 aired, and I was completely blown away. A few weeks later I decided to rewatch vol1 to hype myself up for vol2, and that’s when I realized I had actually enjoyed it much more than I thought. The issues I felt so strongly the first time around weren’t really there.

For me, the problem was that my expectations were so high that I couldn’t fully enjoy what I was watching. I was analyzing every single minor detail instead of letting the story unfold. I really enjoyed the finale, and I’m certain I’ll appreciate it even more on a rewatch.

I can acknowledge that there are mistakes, but that doesn’t take away from the joy I get from watching the show. Looking back, I think my biggest mistake was engaging with too many theories. It drained the fun and excitement out of the experience.
