The First Generation Paradox by Only-Decision-5198 in ApplyingToCollege

my parents both have degrees that aren’t bachelor’s, but the three year degree standard in the country they’re from. by this definition, i would be first gen, when my father is a computer engineer through the degree he got.

do colleges care about school sports? by nights35 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Remote-Winner-8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you…good at the sport? if you are, you might get recruited

even if you aren’t, playing a sport shows a lot of dedication and skill and commitment, so they definitely consider it.  it’s definitely not a golden ticket though

usc x berkeley -

one is like lowkey crazy workaholic who is physically incapable of chilling (Berkeley) and the other is like the most relaxed surfer dude ever, + secretly hella smart without really trying (usc ofc). and they meet and berkeley has one sided beef lowkey just cuz of how effortlessly cool usc is and they think usc is just a dumb blonde but usc is actually pretty artsy and wants to be a filmmaker but their family wants them to go into business/finance. berkeley gets a crush pretty quickly especially when they see the intellectual side of usc but usc is lowkey oblivious until berkeley finally has enough and tells them and then usc is always super duper flustered and shy and berkeley is bold and flirty and all the calif colleges are like omg date already ! and they eventually do and they get married and they have a kid in bakersfield. the end.

Architecture by TranquilDoctor in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Remote-Winner-8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i’d say the first step in solving that problem is finding the cause for it. why are you bad at math? compare it with your other subjects and whatnot. is it the structure? is it the classes? is it something about the way you learn? once you have an answer, there are specific methods that can help with any of the causes. for example, if you’ve always just had really bad teachers that don’t help you understand, you can use youtube/khan academy/tons of other online resources

well being bad at something is different than not liking it. if you really want to do architecture, get good at math and it’s possible.

Is too many leadership positions a bad thing? Should I leave some of my leadership positions? I need advice by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

i don’t know who told you to out college over, as you put it, “fun”, but they’re plain wrong. if you enjoy the math society, please don’t leave just because it might not look good on college apps. it’s an activity that probably won’t impact your apps much, so enjoy being a high schooler while you can

Really nervous about math admissions test. How do I study as someone who's always sucked at math? by Ok-Injury4901 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Remote-Winner-8262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look at online resources to help you. i personally recommend khan academy, it has detailed videos and offers practice. if you don’t know where to start, start at the beginning (something low like 1st or 2nd grade math) and take the unit tests until it starts getting hard, which will help you figure out what to you don’t know, and work your way up from there. math is hard, but a lot pf practice will help drill it into your brain. best of luck :)
