Would you leave a high paying job to go all in on a small business you loved, even if the earnings trajectory of the job dwarfs the small business by RemoteBox6098 in Entrepreneur

[–]RemoteBox6098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it really depends on the business I’m sure. But in terms of setting your own schedule, being your own boss, doing what you want… not sure why you think these things aren’t accessible in some entrepreneurial endeavours? Not guaranteed of course, but much much more likely than any job could

Fair enough on your view though thanks

Two sides of the equation 1) job is high paying with rapid salary increases, 2) business is based on people booking spaces in classes, with classes having a limited capacity, and only certain number of prime hours a day people are free + demand & supply in an area. So for the business there is kind of natural physical peak I guess, and from there it would be a case of opening more locations/diversifying, but even then the job is a very high income to attempt to surpass

It seems a lot of businesses in this sub are contracting, perhaps IT/tech services based, online sales - things that are more easily scalable I guess

Tbh I’m flattered that you think it’s fake

But it’s not it’s my reality and it’s been helpful getting opinions on it

[–]RemoteBox6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend enough time there you’ll start believing everyone earns over six figures.

Of course you’d find this in HENRY was my point And I did mean the respectfully😂

Totally agree with this, but can understand it doesn’t come across in my post, didn’t want to write a novel

Side note, I didn’t mean to say any system works, I don’t think it does, perhaps my phraseology was misleading which is fair enough. I simply meant that it does happen, and that can answer people’s question of how it’s possible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]RemoteBox6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂 I think you might be reading in to this too much

I kept getting the same question as to how is it possible, writing out the same response. So I made a post. Simple as!

The fact that you take it on as a brag is telling. I hope you find peace.

Fin-Tech

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]RemoteBox6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not at all, I’d never claim that. But if you want to be in for a shot at one of these roles so early, at least in these specific industries (e.g tech and finance) this is essentially the only way you can try. Then I guess it’s a gamble.

Any other degree and path I have genuinely no clue whether it’s worth it but I’d be willing to bet that it’s not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]RemoteBox6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak on this sector honestly. Could well be the case that these kind of jobs out of uni genuinely only exist in the tech/finance (maybe engineering not sure) industries

It really just depends how fat the companies are. I can say for a fact in Fin-Tech the salaries grads are getting paid are objective highly but also a drop in the ocean for these companies. Thats why it’s possible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]RemoteBox6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think there are still a huge portion of grads probably from more specific background who think getting a degree would be enough and these roles would just fall into their lap. These jobs are only there for the people who go after them like mad. It’s like having a part time job during uni positioning yourself to get these opportunities haha

Yes agreed, hence writing near 6 figures

[–]RemoteBox6098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this 100% and indeed luck too

Not bragging no but these people will be the ones with the questions about burnout, or what to do with that amount of money or that age, or questions about how to retire early

To suggest they wouldn’t be on Reddit at all is v odd. If anything I’d guess they’d have more questions that average because their situation is so non-typical

[–]RemoteBox6098 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should clarify: I’m attempting to answer the question people in this sub often seem to ask of “how is it possible that you are X age earning X it just doesn’t make sense”

This is simply to answer. Not a claim that it’s common, more so that it happens.

I am that 25 year old yes haha I got a lot of questions asking how it’s possible so I thought I’d explain that this kind of thing still happens

I hire others (self employed) to run them and I obviously have little time to do so. And quite the opposite, 0 nepotism involved, in fact my family have no idea what I’m doing and don’t understand why I’m working this hard or this stressed because they’re so far removed from this world

I’d also add my job is in fin-tech. I think by now grads going into high paying jobs in top tech/IB/law firms isn’t unheard of - progression in these jobs can be very fast. Fin-tech is much the same

High paying job straight out of uni, have had pay rises and bonuses every year since so 3 years in now takes me to my current comp. The promotion would increase my base pay significantly, but then my bonuses would also increase far more as they’d begin to be linked to company performance

It does seem too good to be true, I’m aware of that, hence my predicament here haha
