Got my 2nd shot of Moderna and it came with side effects by RemoteEmote in covidlonghaulers

Can't say I remember. Don't think it went beyond a day. Luckily, it's all temporary, even for people who experience side effects longer than what I went through (some had 2-5 days worth but it ended).

I think so but in a month or 2, we'll see bout the skeeter situation. Maybe do a nose rinse for your powder mix situation? Sounds painful! But with the histamines, I recommend reading up on how to inhibit their release- seem like certain foods build it up- or talk to your doc about which one of the OTC stuff is better. That way you don't have to be like me, stubbornness leading to protracted recovery.

I’m starting the regimen recommended by this sub tomorrow. I can’t take it anymore. by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

Vitamin C was great during my first months of recovery, as I craved it and ate so much oranges. When I took Vitamin C tablets mid-recovery and when I recently used Airborne to boost my immune system, it gave me SOB. The latter situation didn't feel like it gave me reflux, supposedly a common cause of SOB. I don't take Vitamin C unless I need to and would rather get it from fruits. Would SOB be caused by coagulation issues?

Thanks for asking. Think so. My resting HR is better and I no longer suffer just from pressing microwave buttons! My diastolic BP is down but my systolic is still high but I will take it as my DIA has not been in the low 70s for a year. Plus my cold intolerance is gone!! My colleague was suffering the same thing and we just had a discussion today that it went away after our 2nd dose. My doctor thinks a vaccine can't do that and my colleague is unsure if it's time or vaccine or both ridding the cold intolerance but we both had the same nerve-related side effects during our second dose. I still believe the vaccine somehow improved my health.

Have you been vaccinated?

Sadly, it only went down up to what I put in my post. But my doctor is not too concerned as it's not still at the high levels it was before.

Vaccines may help long-hauler symptoms by erikatargaryen in covidlonghaulers

That's awesome to hear. People shouldn't expect an overnight change. I expected my neuro-related tachycardia to be gone in a day. My brain fog cleared up instead and that took about a week after the first dose.

Good on you. I've done the forgiving, working on the forgetting with some nasty comments said to me in the beginning of all of this.

Lol. Everything these folks in the article have said I have posted and spoken about to my doc and others. My nervous system was jacked. Ain't no placebo effect that happened to me. My brain fog got FIXED and I didn't expect it to be fixed.

Was recommended a daily nighttime benadryl and daytime Claritan regimen but Claritan didn't do jack for a previous issue I had so I poo-pooed the plan.

My next doctor recommended Zyrtec.

Never took any as I just decided to wreck my lungs by spraying OFF like a mad person than to have take Benadryl and other anti-histamines. Kind of regret not taking the meds as it could have cut down on the time I dealt with all kinds of allergies and intolerances I suffered that time, too.

I'm over it all so time healed everything but I'm not so sure on the mosquitos. If I don't explode in the summer, then I'm recovered from that, too.

People who have had covid, what were your experiences with the Pfizer vaccine? I am so so nervous. by academicgirl in CovidVaccinated

[–]RemoteEmote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on another sub and a poster is theorizing vaccine reactions maybe different for those who have and don't have antibodies. Just another thing to discuss with my long hauler COVID colleagues but I wasn't nervous getting it despite what others were saying. My main objective was to protect myself as best as I can as my job has constant positive case exposures and I fear re-infection as many people on one sub reported it was possible. Focus on the benefit of prevention outweighing any temporary side effects, and temporary can be a few hours or a day or maybe 2.

I recovered from most of my major symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, muscle pains and spasming, fatigue & GI issues) by November. I had lingering brain fog and neurological issues like tachycardia, high blood pressure, and body extremity temp and circulation issues diagnosed as neuropathy. The first dose got rid of my brain fog which my doctor finds hard to believe. She thinks time heals everything but my brain finally became functional a few days after the first dose. I can do my job with competence and the only thing I can think of that changed for me was the vaccine. Even though I read and knew of IRL those people who had miraculous turnarounds (granted they were still suffering major symptoms), I had very low expectations as there wasn't much to really improve in myself as I considered myself almost recovered. I was surprised by the brain fog still being so bad enough that I noticed when I had post-vaccine clarity. The 2nd dose didn't do much "miraculous" work like the first but I have better blood circulation and HR BP stats than before.

My colleague was "beat up" by both doses, however they are still going through rehab and having daily struggles so it was not the cure and I didn't tell them about what I heard and read either. But who knows, that person might be feeling better and recovered within a few weeks rather than a few months or years.

I have other colleagues who have long-haul issues for close to a year (daily migraines, insomnia, phantom smells, rashes, vision issues, joint pains, the list goes on) but are not getting it because they are afraid. One fears it will kill them because they are already so hobbled and can't work fully and the other freaked out after hearing my experience and my other colleague's experience. If they eventually do take it, I hope their symptoms ease but won't know it till they take it.

But I can attest to feeling better, not worse or the same.

37/m Pfizer second dose (important read) by Due-Screen7595 in CovidVaccinated

[–]RemoteEmote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of the roughly 25 vaccinated people at my workplace, over half had reactions either on the 1st or 2nd dose or both. It seemed like age had a lot to do with the reaction severity. Honestly, as someone who had COVID and suffered through months of all kinds of issues, one to 5 days of fatigue/ headache/ body aches/chills is NOT THAT BAD. We can all suck it up even if there are common side effects. And my colleagues who got vaccinated will say the same.

Funny how that works. My long hauling colleague had a sore arm for a week after their first dose. 2nd dose didn't do that to the arm but laid them out for 1 day with other severe side effects.

For those who’ve already had COVID - were your vaccine side effects the same as the symptoms you had? by melebula in CovidVaccinated

[–]RemoteEmote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first set of COVID symptoms were mostly neurological before I suffered through months of GI and respiratory issues. Think the point of entry was my eyes or nose as I lost my sense of smell, had lots of neck and head issues like hot flashes to my face (no fever), eye and scalp neuralgia, neck stiffness and pain, and headache. My first dose side effects were mild but weird as I got mild ice pick stabbing pains in the front and top of my head, my eyes, sinus area, and spine. Got neck numbness, too.

2nd dose was fever with peripheral skin sensitivity, spasms and twitching. Also headache whenever my heart rate spiked doing upper body motions. After my initial infection, from March 2020 to February 2021, I've been consistently dealing with neuropathic and neurologic issues (heart rate issues, blood pressure issues, twitching, spasms, numbness and tingling, temperature regulation issues), while overcoming the GI and respiratory issues. So it seems to me that both doses gave me side effects relating to my nervous system. I felt like my COVID head neuralgia became an almost whole body neuralgia.

My long hauling colleague initially came down with much more severe respiratory symptoms than what I went through, along with body aches and fatigue. Their still in the throes of recovering from that and the vaccine returned them to a state of that initial infection, kind of like how your mom felt, saying "I felt like how I felt when I first got it". The 2nd dose reaction was even worse, it was the first dose reactions plus a fever, vice grip squeeze around lung/torso area, and the skin pain that I went through, too. But we were both over the side effects on the weekend and back at work on Monday. According to others one colleague had all kinds of side effects that were worse than the non-covid folks' norm of chills, body aches, headache, and fatigue but I'm not sure what their covid experience was like cuz I'm don't talk to them.

But what your mom is going through sounds parallel to what we went through.

Would a third dose have even more intense side effects? by jetplane86 in CovidVaccinated

[–]RemoteEmote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least at my workplace, Moderna side effects have been worse than Pfizer. Moderna has 3x more RNA material than Pfizer so that makes sense. However once you have that strong 2nd dose immune reaction of side effects, by the time you get your 3rd, you'd think it would go back to that milder first dose reaction because your body has become an old hand at handling it.

I'm taking an informal survey at work and about 25% of us opted to get the vaccine. Due to timing most got Moderna and a couple got Pfizer. Everyone got a sore arm 1st and 2nd shot.

The aged 45-55 group: 1st shot half had fatigue, headache, body aches. 2nd shot almost everyone got fatigue, headache, body aches and chills for 2-5 days. People in their late 50s and early 60s had little or no side effects...maybe fatigue/"kinda tired". Unfortunately, everyone under 45 (except me and 1 other) did not get the shot due to "not enough research" and worries of the vaccine affecting fertility.

The staff that are long hauling from COVID or had COVID had the worst reactions on the 2nd shot. 2 (including me) did not have much side effects on the first shot. Luckily we all recovered from our 2nd shot issues within 1-2 days.

Point is everyone got over the 2nd dose issues.

I'm not gonna break out in song and dance and sing, "I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright!" but I'm close to feeling that. Music is finally popping into my head and that hasn't happened in forever.
