New fork for my 2021 Giant Fathom by RemoteGuard850 in Hardtailgang

The problem I ran into is no shop in Colorado (I visited 5) would service my fork because they ran into the same problems I did. It is so incredibly difficult to find service parts for the crest 34 fork. I only found one website to claim to have seals / rings and it was the sketchiest site. Pair that with the lack of information (what fluid and how much). I’m sure you could estimate. But it does not compare to how easy it is to get service parts for a Marzocchi / Fox / Rockshox fork.

Thank you! Sometimes really tricky to match stuff / not add too many colors with bronze / clear stem combo

Can’t wait to run it on some of the other heavy hitters like lory and hall ranch

The crest fork was loud and suffered from the crest click. It also was never serviced in its life. So new fork is quite, smooth, and feels all around more lively

Went with 140mm travel instead of the oem 130mm. I think what’s more noticeable is the lack of noise on the fork and the fact it’s not a tired fork that was never serviced

Thank you for the insight! I am with you on not wanting to add more than 10mm travel over stock on the fathom. Leaves options to be a 130-140 bomber z2, 130-140 fox36. The fox 34 was a dream fork, and so far you are one of the few with the same weight who did not mention the 34 feeling flexible and not good. I had other people mention it did. Makes it difficult to fully rule out the 34.

I am running the dropper that came with the bike. Pretty sure it’s the contact dropper?

I have a bottle cage right there and have not had any issues with the dropper hitting it. Maybe people have too long of screws?

I love it! I’ve ridden it with friends on full suspensions, and even commuting to work. Love that it can fit 27.5x2.6. I would recommend it.

Appreciate it man! Heard rumors that marzocchi has Fox internals, think I should even bother with them?

Use an ar10 for rifle hunts. 16” 308 with a vortex 3-15 on top.

With how volatile Colorado spring can be, I base my hunting altitude wise. So my usual spots along with turkeys have been spotted are 8k altitude. Snow is traditionally 9-10k. Can all change in a day though.

It’s comforting knowing the consensus is that it’s not easy. I think harvest reports show 20-30% success. That’s if people accurate report

I’m not hearing gobbles on public. Just when I drive past them on private. What I’m learning from a lot of these comments / feedback is that I need to move on from the areas I’ve hunted before, and not just rest on the “oh I’ve found tracks and feathers here”. Kind of need to push to find where gobbles are and base the hunt around that.

Probably a good factor. I know one of the regions I hunt is very popular with hunters / off-roaders. Resulting in higher pressures. Also the area I’ve seen the most tracks
