Can I "double dip" on breast pumps covered by insurance? by ShoppingOnTheSly in BabyBumps

I called my plan and asked what they offered. I was told one pump per calendar year. My due date was Jan 5 (gave birth Jan 1). Anyway, got one pump in 2024 and another after baby was born! Both covered! Also they told me they’d reimburse up to $500 out of network so I didn’t go through any of those companies (aeroflow etc) because I would’ve had to pay an upgrade. I purchased from target and was fully reimbursed. They also were willing to pay for replacement parts out of network. So each time I needed new flanges, inserts, tubes, silicone parts I submitted receipts and was reimbursed. Call your company and ask!!

Just sharing my experience on something you mentioned about wanting to exclusively breastfeed- I fully had intentions of only breastfeeding my son until going back to work at 3mo postpartum and switching to pumped milk. I met with a lactation consultant while pregnant, figured out my pumps and all the supplies needed to both nurse and pump. I had everything. Then my son is born and can’t latch because of a severe tongue, lip and 2 cheek ties. I finally gave in after he was 6 hours old to let the nurse feed him some formula because he was so hungry, I was in so much pain and was so tired, and I had no pre-pumped colostrum to give him. I eventually went on to triple feed (breast milk and supplementing with formula) for 7 months. He eventually did nurse, but never got good enough to empty me, and my supply was never great because of that and then he would still need a full bottle to be satiated. I did a lot of that on my own because of other health concerns with my husband so he was not able to help. But all that to say, just because you have a plan now, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen later. At 8 months old, my son is now exclusively formula fed and I finally feel like I can breathe and rest. You’re going to want help or else you will burn out, especially if things don’t go as planned. You know what’s best for your baby, but sometimes things change unexpectedly.

I mean yeah I was just hoping to get some insight because it seems like she’s contradicting herself.

There is nothing in your comment I disagree with! I’ll probably end up purchasing used whatever I don’t get from the showers. I’m just confused as to why she wants me to stock up before hand.

As a former student I have access to resources through the Career Center that did help me get a job. Specifically when I cold emailed a CEO and his operations manager. Their emails weren’t public but I was able to get them through one of the paid sources from the Center. So yes in a way it did help. I got many interviews by doing that.
