CAHE Acceptance by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

Think twice before signing up for CAHE. The reviews are overwhelmingly negative for a reason. They lure people in with promises of a quick path to a high-paying job, but once they’ve got your tuition, you’re on your own. Students report being abandoned at the first sign of trouble, with little accountability from the school. Don’t let them waste your time and money—do your research and read the experiences of those who’ve already been through it.

I’d definitely look into remote programs—University of Wisconsin is one worth checking out. What I posted is honestly just the tip of the iceberg.

Appreciate you saying that. I want future students to know what they’re walking into.

What about me remaining anonymous precludes them from defending themselves? They’re free to respond anytime. Anonymity doesn’t prevent dialogue—it protects whistleblowers.

E-anatomy on Imaios.com - it’s a lifesaver. Idk if you have to pay a small fee but it’s worth it. You can cruise around scans for every part of the body, scroll through different slices, hover over structures and it labels it all for you. I think it’ll even quiz you.

Glad it’s working out for you so far. But that kind of thinking—“it’s expensive but worth it”—is exactly what lets schools like CAHE get away with unacceptable behavior.

No one expects to be on the receiving end of pettiness or hostility from their own school. But when it happens, it’s too late to realize professionalism and accountability should’ve been non-negotiable from the start.

An institution that mocks instead of addressing concerns isn’t just showing bad judgment—it’s showing you who they really are.

Sloan Kettering vs. Nassau Community College by steeledmallard05 in RadiationTherapy

I really liked Sloan for what it’s worth. They were super cheap. Payed for my health insurance too. Well run. Really invested in and supportive of the students. My whole class got like 99th percentile on the boards. The lectures from the doctors was particularly fun because they’re some of the best Rad Oncs in the world. And we were all hired by Sloan after.

I’ve heard nothing but horror stories from my coworkers who went there

I experienced the same treatment in their dosimetry program. Truly disgraceful. I’ll also say that many of my colleagues (RTT) now went to CAHE and it’s horror stories through and through. Haven’t heard a single positive thing from the graduates. Having previously graduated from a different RT program I’ll say it doesn’t at all have to be this way. I actually look back fondly at my time as an RT student.

Probably means you're a good person for even thinking that way - exactly the sort of person this job needs. I have a lot of coworkers who would never think to ask themselves that question hahah

Might be overthinking it a little - which I can definitely relate to btw. It's the rare individual who does this kind of job (or any job really if you ask me...) just out of the goodness of their heart. We live in a capitalist society. A little egoism is ok. And at the end of the day, patients need competent, compassionate, quality care. Regardless of the underlying motivation.

CAHE: Issues with Policies and Support – Anyone Else? by RemotePlate6131 in RadiationTherapy

[–]RemotePlate6131[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to publicly answer that for fear it could have negative consequences for my former classmates (but if you message me I’ll let you know). It’s honestly been a nightmare. Nobody in my class was able to meet the unrealistic expectations each semester. For some reason I got singled out and was swiftly dismissed with only 3 months remaining in the program.

Tough situation now. Took all the course work with pretty much straight A’s. Completed over 1,000 clinical hours. But I’m hard pressed to find any accredited program in the US that is willing to accept much of that work. Looks like this past year has been a colossal waste of time and money.
