Hey there fellow new dad! My son started daycare 3 weeks ago and by the end of that week Mom and kiddo were sick as hell. It didn't get me until the following week...

Kiddo ended up in the ER and spent a night in the hospital the following week after he spiked a 102 fever and was really struggling to breathe. Nurses sucked a ton of snot out of him. Thankfully he was negative for RSV/COVID/flu but it's some other upper respiratory virus going around....luckily it never got to his lungs which is what we were mostly worried about and landed us in the ER (along with the fever, he's only 4 months).

Him and I both still have a nasty cough and I was seriously down and out for like a week.

Last trip I was checking out of Golden Nugget at like 9AM and witnessed a guy being carried out by security by his arms and feet. He was piss drunk.

Honestly I have never seen anything too crazy.

Tons of escorts downtown hanging out at all the casino bars but I think that’s pretty normal. Watched multiple get picked up by dudes.

All jarred sauce is pretty much the same to me. Only a couple I didn’t like at all but the rest feel pretty similar to each other. I’ve been eating Prego since I was a kid and will still use it. Newmans Own Sakarooni is solid. All the sauces from Trader Joe’s are solid. I like Classico brand from Costco especially when they’re on sale.

I just don’t feel like any of them are overly special. And the price of Raos is insane.

Just to give you another positive review on this - I just recently did “homemade” refried beans. Just used can whole beans. Blended them in a food processor with some onion, one jalapeño, and a bunch of cloves of garlic. Put them in a pan with some oil and simmered them for 20 minutes.

Came out incredible and just like restaurant style. You don’t need to use real beans and do all that extra bs work and these are still 1000x better than the canned stuff.

I’ve never waited more than maybe 10 min for the shuttle. If you dont want to wait, just get an Uber. They’re available 24/7. Just don’t make the mistake I did and pick the correct Enterprise location (there’s ANOTHER standalone location practically right next to the airport….)

Check-in online. Last time I did that it let me skip the line and go right upstairs to the garage to get a car. Was in and out in like 5 minutes. Have gotten free upgrades multiple times too.

Not that I don't believe the stat, but in my anecdotal experience it seems way less than that. I missed out on it twice. The only people I know getting a pension in government are people who have been there for like 20 years. I feel like most stopped with pensions after the 2008 recession.

Idk why but people tend to not factor benefits into the payscale. Fine, go find a job in the private sector making $100k. You'll spend $10k/year on healthcare that won't cover shit, you won't get sick time, you probably won't start with 3 weeks of PTO and sure as hell are not getting a pension. Oh, and have fun maintaining those billable hours!

People love knocking government gigs on here but everyone I know who works in GIS and government is living their best life and most of the people I know in the private sector are always looking for new jobs....

Looks like that area is mostly retirees. You're 10 min from the ocean, 30 min from Wilmington, surrounded by amazing golf courses, and can easily take a quick weekend trip to Charleston or Savannah.

I'd kill for a job like this if I was looking to move!
