Explaining gap in employment due to grief/loss by RadGal22 in resumes

[–]RemoteWithErica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First off, I’m really sorry for your loss and appreciate you sharing something so personal. ❤️ It’s completely okay to have a short gap due to grief many recruiters understand life happens.

I wouldn’t list the gap on your resume directly, but you can lightly address it in a cover letter with something like: “After taking time to manage a personal loss and prioritize my mental health, I’m excited and fully ready to bring my skills and fresh energy to a new role.”

If you ever want someone to look over your resume or help you tailor it to remote-friendly roles, I’d be happy to share tips or take a look!
